CHRIS HAD HIS usual post-session conference with Lydia, and they discussed the things he’d learned in Arkansas.
“Was that the thing Ted was holding back?” he said.
“It certainly was. I knew he was getting close to bringing it to the surface, and I’m not really surprised at the trigger. I honestly wouldn’t advise taking him back there for any reason.”
“That’s what I thought,” Chris said. “And I have no intention of doing so. Much as I hate to let so many people get away with what they’ve done to my brother, I decided some time ago that I wouldn’t press charges. And to be honest, I’ve been told that an aggressive defense attorney might go after my adoption of Ted merely to create a diversion. He definitely doesn’t need that kind of disruption in his life.”
“No, he doesn’t,” she said.
“Do you think Ted has any more secrets to reveal?”
