Chapter 3- The Invasion

Laser guns were fired from seemingly everywhere. There were suddenly spaceships in the air and weird-looking humanoid creatures clad in silver armor-like clothing that was definitely not from earth. Aliens had invaded Earth, and what better time to do it than when the whole world was more or less in a relaxed excited mood.

Wolfe looked around at the spaceships, the soldiers firing lasers from scaly guns displaying their advanced technological level. People were screaming in fear, running for their dear lives towards the various exits, some hiding under their seats in an attempt to avoid the laser shots. The entire stadium was shaken to the core and was beginning to fall apart. Wolfe was frustrated by the sudden change of events. It was supposed to be his complete victory; Boxer was about to admit defeat. Then, he was infuriated. How dare these ugly creatures from god-knows-where suddenly show up and steal the limelight. And what's more? They were not just killing people, some soldiers began feeding on body parts while on duty like they were snacks. Some were taking hostages regardless of their age, looks or gender. It did not matter if they were young or old, male or female. As long as they were not dead or dying, and were unfortunate enough to run into these soldiers' hands, they were taken.

Wolfe looked around him to observe his environment and what he saw sickened him and at the same time infuriated him in a way he didn't think possible. He looked down at his opponent to discover that he was already on his feet with an equally angry face.

"Go and help the people stuck in here. I will try to rescue those that were kidnapped. Oh, and in the mean time, kill as many of those aliens as you can!" Wolfe said, and without waiting for a reply, he was gone, running towards the largest ship where he saw the kidnapped ones being transported to.

Boxer watched the back of his opponent-turned-ally running towards the enemy's ship. He then turned to look around and ran towards a group of people hiding under a set of overturned seats. He was shot at and he lowered his head without thinking or stopping. He could feel the burns of the lasers on his flesh. His body was soon riddled with fresh blood and the smell of burnt flesh, but he would not slow down. Literally running through those soldiers in his way, he trudged on at full speed until he got to the group of people he sighted. Without putting much thought into what he was doing, he helped the group of about seventeen out of the 'chair-fortress' towards the exit. Not hesitating to take a few shots on their behalf. As those people passed through the exit, he knew his job was done. It was left to them how quickly they could run further away from the stadium. Luckily for them, these alien soldiers were only targeting the stadium.

He ran back into the stadium to help another batch of people stuck in between a group of soldiers and an exit that had been blocked by a large piece of metal dropped from the stadium ceiling by a smaller-sized spaceship. He could see fear clearly written on their faces. The soldiers' backs were facing him. They looked amused, grinning and slowly advancing towards their victims. He rushed at the soldiers in anger, grabbed the two soldiers closest to him and aggressively bumped their heads into each other with such force that there was nothing left on their shoulders due to the impact. The other five soldiers looked back to see a human and two headless co-soldiers. At first, they were too shocked to move. By the time they regained their senses, they had already been shot at by earthling soldiers.

Meanwhile, in the largest ship, where the hostages were kept, Wolfe was dashing in and out of various passageways searching for the hostages while being closely followed by nearly a hundred alien soldiers shooting at him. Most of the shots missed and some hit their target. Although not fatal, quantity still had its role to play and Wolfe was beginning to wear out.

'I have to save those people. They came to watch me fight anyway.' Wolfe thought to himself.

'It does not matter whether I die or not. It is going to be one or all. And I intend to make it one, not all!'

Wolfe was bleeding profusely from his many cuts, but he kept running in and out of the many rooms.

He entered a room larger than any he had seen so far. There were several of these alien creatures in the room. It was filled with crystals providing the energy used to power the entire ship. He looked to his left and saw several thousand people in individual capsules interconnected by what he recognized to be cables. These cables were numbered one for each capsule and looked like thin, glowing tree fibres which extended from the individual capsules to a large crystal on an elevated podium in the centre of the room. The room contained moving arms without a body, controlled like robots.

'These bastards are using human parts like they are some type of robots!' Wolfe said internally with a disgusted look.

He noticed a podium well hidden behind the door, capable of hiding a ten-feet giant. He quickly and stealthily moved to hide there while carefully planning out his next move. Wolfe did not have much time to think before he could hear rushing footsteps approaching the room he was in. Those soldiers were still on his tail. Then, he could feel the vibration of the spaceship.

'Are these bastards taking off?' He thought in a panic. He had to do something. And he had to do it now if there was going to be a chance to save all these innocent people. He decided to take a peek. His head had barely appeared outside the safety of the shadow provided by the podium than he was sighted by an eight feet tall alien who looked so ugly, Wolfe's stomach churned from looking at him. It spoke, or at least seemed to speak, muttering loud incomprehensible tittering sounds that made birds sound like beginners. Wolfe could only guess that he was angry because it seemed to be glaring at him.

Immediately it stopped making those annoying sounds, every alien in the room pounced on him. In a blurry set of movement skills, Wolfe dodged a few while attacking some others. They were too many for him to even think of standing a chance, so without wasting a moment, he made use of whatever energy he had left in him to dash at the supposed leader. He threw the strongest punch he could muster at it.

Just when it seemed to have been hit by his fist, he felt something incredibly cold grip his wrist. It was so cold, he instantly felt cold shivers run down his spine. The temperature, in those few moments seemed to decrease to only a few degrees before freezing point. The hand didn't grip his wrist for long though as it utilized his own momentum against him, throwing him over the leader's head with a look that such hideous things could only define as a smile.

As soon as he landed, he felt all his energy evade him in the face of absolute fear. But no, he couldn't give up now. Many thousand victims needed his help. He definitely could NOT give up. NOT YET!! So, by sheer willpower, he moved his hands upwards to grab something he could use to pull himself up.

Wolfe grabbed a podium and attempted to stand. He heard a small BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Sound, but did not pay much attention to it. He forcefully stood up and faced the leader. He was half expecting to see it smiling with confidence and amusement, but instead its face was tightening very painfully in a scowl-like expression. He was confused and that was when he heard a sliding sound like a door opening as well as other sounds that seemed to him like doors unlocking. He, out of curiosity, glanced at the direction of the sound and saw the capsules loosening and slowly sliding down in an orderly manner towards a door slowly opening to show the large stadium far, far below. The leader looked anxious and shouted out its mumbo-jumbo in a hurry, followed by the rushing, equally anxious-looking soldiers moving towards Wolfe at an impressive speed much faster than before.

"Wait! Were these bastards toying with me earlier?" Wolfe could not help but ask loudly as if requesting a response.

At this point, Wolfe finally realized what was going on. He had accidentally released the hostages. Although, this was a mistake he could live with. It didn't matter if they died from falling from such height. Anything was better than being turned to experimental guinea pigs for these aliens. And so, with that in mind, he awaited the alien soldiers with a smile on his face. They pounced at him again, but instead of dodging, he went at them as well. Punching, kicking, grabbing, tossing. He utilized every bit of adrenaline left in him and fought them tooth and nail. He was cut and brutally bruised by the many, many soldiers but he refused to budge. As he watched the last capsule slide out, he was gripped by that ice-cold hand again and tossed overhead, crashing into the floor near the elevated platform holding the largest crystal. He angrily looked at the crystal like it was the cause of all his woes. He coughed out mouthful after mouthful of blood. He could feel his life-force depleting rapidly. He saw the leader advancing towards him slowly with anger literally steaming out of his face. Wolfe began to reminisce on his short twenty-five years on earth. He thought about his parents that died when he was only ten. He could not even remember their faces. He thought about the beautiful memories he had together with them, his short time at the orphanage, his foster parents who ended up dying in a car accident during their wedding anniversary, his second time in the orphanage where he met his first love, her last words before her death in the hospital. He thought about his married wrestling teachers who taught him everything he knew about wrestling and encouraged him to become a pro, his second love and the circumstances surrounding their meeting each other, his wedding ceremony that only had ten people in attendance, his short five years as a pro wrestler, his recent fight against Boxer, the people he just saved. And finally, he thought about his wife's voice before he arrived at the arena telling him to not do anything too extreme and to think of his family first and career second. Tears began to flow down his face as he thought about all these and how he was going to die before having the chance to see his first child. He regretted not having said goodbye like his instincts told him to early that morning. And finally, he regretted not being able to kill all these ugly invaders for messing with planet Earth and ruining the ending of his short life. He really wanted them to pay for all the trouble they had caused him in less than five hours. Crazy, Ugly Alien Bastards.

The leader had finally stopped, standing tall and mighty above him. Wolfe looked at the scowling face of the leader and began fantasizing about blowing up his face.

'Of course' Wolfe thought to himself and a bright pain-filled smile appeared on his face once again for the last time. It was painful keeping the smile on his face, but he did anyway. The leader of the alien soldiers became confused by the sudden change in expression of the human. Was this how all humans looked like when they were dying? Do they find death a pleasant thing? Why did they think death was a good thing? Death is bad! Or is it not? Could it be possible that humans knew something about death that they didn't?

All it could think about was that humans were happy to die. He could not think of any other possible theory as to why a puny human could be smiling. It took a few steps backwards to further look at his face and try to comprehend the reasons behind his expression. Wolfe immediately made use of that opportunity and with everything he had in him, he dove at a gun that was nearby and instead of pointing it at the soldiers, pointed it at that energy crystal he could only assume to be the energy core and shot every single charge left in the gun into the core.

The core instantly became unstable. It sparkled very brightly and just as the ship was leaving the earth's atmosphere, it blew up, thereby causing a chain reaction with the other crystals causing them to become unstable as well before collectively exploding, destroying the ship and every single thing in it into oblivion amidst Wolfe's hysterical laughter.

*****************

When the spaceship exploded, its shockwave blew the other ships up as well, and all the people on earth could only see was a small spark and nothing more. Perhaps, Boxer might have been able to guess if he had seen it but he was long unconscious by then; already comatose.
