Jail break (part 6)

Riley stares forward uncertain of how he feels. Partly because he has no idea what is going on and partly because people were touching him. "Okay Riley, turn around." Rat and Tank say happily. Riley slowly turns around and his jaw drops. Sitting in the middle of the workshop is a black 1996 yamaha v-star. Riley moves through the crowd and touches the bike. "So I found a bike shop and they all looked like they were ok so I kinda moved it closer everyday you were gone, do you like it?" Rat asks. "This is mine?" Riley asks. "Yup all yours." Tank says beaming. Riley then does something neither boy ever expected. He embraces them. "Thank you guys so much!" Riley says not even trying to hide his tears of joy. "No problem Ri, we just wanted to thank you for always taking care of us." Rat says. "Plus you get us presents all the time." Tank adds. Riley sits on the bike and lays across the large gas tank. "So I don't really know much if anything about bikes but did I pick a good one?" Rat asks. "Drive shaft so limited maintenance and offset rockers that give it a mean sound plus my first bike I ever had was one of these." Riley says stroking the tank still laying on it. "Are you going to try it out?" Rat asks. "Need the keys first." Riley laughs. Rats face falls. "Keys?" He asks defeated. "Yup but that is easy to do they usually have them in the back offices." Riley says sitting up. Climbing off Riley limps over to his shirt and jacket tossing them back on. "So does anybody need anything while I'm out?" Riley asks. "You're going right now?" Alex asks. "Dude you just passed out, you need rest." Alex adds. "I passed out so I got some rest besides I don't sleep much anyways." Riley says, slipping his backpack on. "I'll come with you." Rat says. Riley shrugs. "I'm going to see if Jason needs anything you get ready while I'm doing that." Riley says. Up the stairs and into the market room Riley finds Jason working away taking stock of the guns Riley had brought. "Busted the safe open I see." Riley says. "Take a few of these guns before they are gone Riley." Jason says still working. "I'll just keep the guns I have." Riley says. A revolver catches his attention. "On second thought I'm gonna swap this 380. For the 357." Riley says holding the gun up. "Take ammo as well. Your best shot here might as well insure you get a good stock of bullets." Jason says. "How many points do I have?" Riley asks. Jason waves his hand. "You could buy everything twice over with more to spare don't worry about it." The younger boy says. Riley grabs all of the 357. Bullets and sticks them in the backpack as well as 6 of the 12 boxes of 9mm. "Sign here." Jason says passing a log book to Riley. "Someone likes their chocolate." Riley chuckles seeing Marie has consistently bought only the scavenged candy. "Who is Marie?" Riley asks. "Blonde girl attached at the hip to Jessica." Jason says taking the log book back. "Have you eaten?" Jason asks, looking at Riley at last. "Not for 3 days." Riley says shrugging. "Go eat with the others before you leave. We need you strong. When did you last sleep?" Jason asks, studying his brother. "I just passed out." Riley says checking a rifle. "That doesn't count Riley." Jason says. "How long have I been gone?" Riley asks, popping his neck. "2 weeks." Jason answers. "Ah, then 2 weeks." Riley answers. "Your going to kill yourself Riley get rest recuperate then you can go about your business this isn't a suggestion." Jason says firmly. "Rule 4 no one stands above, no leaders, no council, we stand together as one side by side beneath the book." Riley recites. Jason nods "Well played." The younger boy says impressed. "Clan 13 lock down the gate and vehicles. Keep an eye on Riley. He is not to leave until he eats, and gets some rest. He hasn't eaten in 3 days and hasn't slept for 2 weeks as his equals we must ensure his health." Jason says into his radio before smiling at Riley. "I am better at this Riley." Jason says. "Well I guess it is good I have a project to hold me for a minute." Riley says. "Try teaching others while you are here." Jason says returning to his numbers and logs. "Depends on them for that." Riley says leaving the room. Heading to his collection of parts Riley starts moving them into the workshop. "Rat!" Riley roars. "What's up and by the way I am on board with the lock down." Rat says nervously. "Wanna build a motorcycle that might explode?" Riley asks. "Don't like the one I got you?" Rat asks. "It's not for me it's for you." Riley says. "Then hell yes." Rat says

Rat stares in wonder as Riley cleans the parts. "Okay Rat lesson one in auto mechanics of the apocalypse, do you know how to know if you should even bother with a vehicle?" Riley asks. "It doesn't have holes or guts in it?" Rat answers genuinely. "Good start but no. If it will ever run it needs compression, fuel, and spark. Without those 3 you never will get it running." Riley says holding an engine piece up. "If the block leaks it wont give motion if it has no fuel it can't combust and move the piston, and if it has no spark it wont light the fuel." Riley says. "Why are you telling me these things Ri?" Rat asks. "You aren't afraid of me and they aren't afraid of you. You can teach them and they will accept it." Riley says laying parts out. "Jason isn't the only one that can manipulate others." Riley says under his breath. "Grab the tools Rat. It's time to make a frankenbike." Riley says putting pieces together. "These aren't all the same bike so we will have to modify some and hopefully that doesn't screw us." Riley says as he starts gently forcing bolts in and tightening them. "Do we have all the parts we need to build this?" Rat asks, handing parts to Riley as he works. "No but what we don't have is easily found if not made." Riley says. Thomas passes by the garage and stops to watch and listen to Riley as he explains what he is doing. Taking a breath Thomas enters and sits behind the pair. "Hand me the sealant." Riley says. Rat looks around the parts. "Thomas the sealant." Riley says again. "Oh I-" The boy stammers. "If you want to learn you have to get your hands dirty." Riley says grabbing the sealant and returning to his spot on the cool cement floor. "What does that tube do?" Thomas asks. "Come here and you'll see." Riley says, turning so the boy can see. Carefully applying a hearty amount Riley presses 2 engine pieces together. "It will harden and hold, creating our seal to aid in compression." Riley says handing the engine to Thomas. "Press hard and count to 200" Riley says. "Probably doesn't need that long but better to over prepare than under prepare." Riley says. "Apply that to adventuring outside the wall as well shit is usually being sprayed at the fan out there best to have an umbrella." Riley says. Rat smiles as he notices more people gathering. 'Looks like the Riley lessons wont need me. Brother, have more faith in yourself.' "Um Riley, can I ask you a few Questions?" Jessica asks. "About engines?" Riley asks. "No, about killing zombies." Jessica says nervously. Riley looks at the other people who had gathered and their expectant faces. "Fuck it, why not?" Riley says
