A Deal

Upon exchanging greetings, Darius Frost took Ki to a nearby place to sit down where they were able to talk more comfortably without being disturbed.

He sat back in his chair studying her young appearance trying to gain as much information from the meeting as possible.

He may have had some suspicions on how she and the others may have survived on the mountain but he had nothing to confirm it.

What was even more surprising was that Ki had chosen to reach out to him afterwards.

He coughed to clear his throat before speaking. "So what is this all about?"

Ki looked at the man opposite her and smiled. "I wish to make a deal with the Frost family in order to better secure the future transactions."

Darius knit his brows. "I thought that everything had been settled for your family?"

He knew of the details about the Bombyx families activities in the outer parts of the Capital and how smoothly the Bombyx family had been able to secure working relationships with several businesses and families.

Among them were some smaller and less influential groups that would be able to rise up with the support of the Bombyx family.

Others were more well known groups who handled a lot of business that got put through to the inner parts of the Capital.

Among them were some that were independent forces while some were linked to some families from the inner parts of the Capital.

Ki may have secured many potential trading opportunities with some groups but it was not guaranteed to be fully successful in the long term.

The decisions of those she was dealing with could easily change with a little bit of persuasion or coercion from someone with much more power and influence.

That was not the only thing that needed to be worried about when trying to maintain the businesses and relationships.

There were always middlemen that could interfere with the transported goods for their own selfish reasons whether it be stealing or implanting something harmful into it.

If those expecting goods had less than agreed open then that would cause disruptions towards the business relationship especially when one side said they sent everything as stated and the other side said they did not receive that amount.

The internal matters could become a major obstacle for both parties while outside factors could play a major role too.

Anyone dissatisfied with the Bombyx family or some rising families and businesses could easily use malicious methods to disrupt the businesses simply out of jealousy or for other reasons.

Even if the Bombyx family could send groups to escort goods across the Northern Lands, there was a limit to how much could be achieved especially if there were obstacles put in place or others attacked those doing the transporting.

Ki trusted in the abilities of those she assigned to such tasks but when bigger forces started to make moves of their own, even her best picked out people would start to sustain some losses whether it be the lives of them or the goods they were supposed to safely transport to the Capital.

Ki stated what she wished for. "I request that the Frost family act as mediators in the future transactions and assign someone trustworthy to act as an inspector or representative. In return… I believe I have something that will be greatly beneficial towards your family."

What she needed was someone that could be used as a shield with enough trust and influence.

The Frost family had a lot of influence and was one of the families supporting the next ruler of the Northern Lands.

There was none more useful than them and they could play a major role towards mediating any future deals and prevent any chances of there being anything happening in the background.

What she needed was someone trustworthy within the family or someone trusted by the family that could come out to check over the goods being traded and ensure that nothing was wrong with it before it was handed over.

That way there could be no interference done by others that could be used against the Bombyx family.

It was very easy to set up some kind of scheme to incriminate the Bombyx family just by tampering with the goods being traded in order to make it look like the Bombyx family was involved in a major conspiracy to plot against the Northern Lands.

Since the Bombyx family were a foreign family, it would be something that could be easily done without others ever doubting if they were really behind such an act.

Darius knit his brows and coldly said. "This is a big ask of you. There must be something of equal value if you want this?"

Ki was not deterred by his attitude and kept eye contact with him. "I believe that this piece of information will be a great help to the Northern Lands. Any influence in the Northern Lands may want to get their hands on this piece of information.

I can hand it over and swear never to tell another or sell it on to another so long as our agreement is fully secured. Of course.. by telling you this piece of information, this is my families intention to cooperate in this future venture.

If anyone should gain rights to that resource as the main trader then please look to the Bombyx family first. Of course you may prioritise other groups as your main way of selling or supplying those who require it. All the Bombyx family want is trading rights."

She did not wish to reveal so much information so she could only drop some hints that it was a valuable resource and that she had information about it.

It would be something many would covet and there were many others that could be considered to purchase the information if the Frost family did not agree.

If it was a resource highly coveted and treasured then it would be prioritised to be used or sent to the right places but there would be some that could be made accessible to the general public and made available through traders.

What Ki wanted from the deal was to have the Bombyx family as the first family who would have access to those resources before other traders.
