12 Battle Training (2/2)
The teams ended up being as follows

Team D: Katsumi Bakugo and Ibara Shiozaki
Team E: Mina Ashido and Yuna Aoyama
Team F: Kozue Koda and Ruriko Sato
Team G: Daiki Kaminari and Jyoka Jiro
Team H: Fumiko Tokoyami and Tsuyu Asui
Team I: Mashiromi Ojiro and Toru Hagakure
Team J: Hana Sero and Eriko Kirishima
Izuku:'Hm, I really should learn who all these people are, I guess I'll just observe them when they battle, But I have a question'
Izuku:"Excuse me Gal-Might-sensei, why do I not have a partner?"
Izuku was told prior to not pull a lot with everyone else and seeing the pairings he was still confused.
Gal-Might:"Well that answer has a simple answer, since Shoka pulled a student 1-A has 19 student now, and you scored top in the assessment, so you have to go solo for now"
Nana seemed kind of embarrassed on behalf of Shoka.

Before Izuku could respond a new box popped up in front of him

Izuku:'And once more another quest, this is the second quest since I got here already, and what is that skill? 'Soul of Unabated Rage' What would that even entail? I don't have a choice to reject the quest nor is there particularly a reason I should, but hoh boy here we go again no time to relax ever.'
Izuku clicked the accept button and nodded his head at Nana that he understood.
Gal-Might:"Ok, Then now that you are all in teams I'll Pull balls labeled A-J out of these two boxes, white balls are the heroes team and black balls are the villains team"
Nana gestured to two boxes behind her.
Izuku:'I could've sworn 10 seconds ago those boxes weren't there.'
Nana pulled two balls out of the box, a white D and a black A.
Gal-Might:"Team D are the heroes! Team A is the villain! Everyone else head to the monitoring room to watch!"
The other students headed off to the room while Nana stood back to speak to Izuku.
Gal-Might:"Midoriya, the key to this exercise is to embody villainy! Think from the perspective of a villain, if things go too far I will step in, and good luck kiddo."
Nana smiled at Izuku as she finished and went off to join the students in the monitoring room. Meanwhile Izuku went into the building.
Izuku:'I'll have to figure out where to hide the weapon, Katsumi probably will go straight for me ignoring the weapon but I don't know about the other girl Ibara so I have to be careful, best bet is to go high and distract them as long as possible if I can't capture them'
Izuku picked up the fake bomb and took it to the top floor of the building away from the stairwell and went back down to the second floor to wait for the heroes to come.
*With Katsumi and Ibara*
Outside the building waiting Katsumi was leaning against a railing and Ibara had her eyes closed in prayer.
Katsumi:"Hey vine hair, I don't care what you do, just don't get in my way."
Katsumi:'This is my moment, my opportunity to finally prove that he's still the same damn deku!'
Katsumi was getting fired up waiting for their starting signal, which after a few minutes came.
Gal-Might:"Heroes, you may enter the building! Your time starts now!"
Katsumi and Ibara ran into the building quickly examining the first floor and moving up to the second floor.
*meanwhile with Izuku*
Izuku:'So how should I do this? I'm not terribly worried about Katsumi, she's gotten stronger since the last time I saw her but I've gotten exponentially stronger, so the wildcard is the Vine girl Ibara, although my fire might be able to cause her vines to wither, I'm not entirely sure, I'll have to test it when they arrive, if I can separate them and take one out first the fight will be far easier. I guess for now I should take stock of what I can do, Status'

Izuku:'Hm, I'm a bit of a glass cannon still, even if I can defend myself from most punches I still should be careful about traps, a few good punches that I can't defend could still take me down. Gameplan for now is to test vine girl and see if I can take them out one at a time'
As Izuku was thinking he noticed a small commotion at the bottom of the stairs he was waiting on and stood up, taking a fighting stance.
Katsumi and Ibara came running around the corner into the stairs before halting at seeing Izuku waiting there.
Katsumi:"Finally found you damn Deku! Now fight me!"
After saying her claim she rushed Izuku while Ibara stayed back and was preparing for what's to come.
Izuku:'She's still reckless as ever, this feels almost verbatim of the training fight I had with her in the dojo, time to make her take this seriously'
Izuku lit aflame sprouting wings of fire behind him and shot off a few bolts of fire at Katsumi making her retreat back down the stairs, while one of the fire bolts flew past her and was aimed at Ibara who while surprised dodged it before it landed only becoming a little singed because of the heat it gave off.
Izuku:'hm, she dodged it instead of using her vines and looking at them they are a little less vibrant where I almost hit her, new plan take her out first and deal with Katsumi after, easy.'
As Katsumi was preparing to rush Izuku once more he flew down the stairs a firewave pushing her back as he flew past her.
Rushing toward Ibara she had no time to dodge and was forced to use her vines to defend from a blast of fire shot at her which quickly wilted the vines and Izuku was able to easily punch through the makeshift shield and pull Ibara from it and wrap a piece of capture tape around her.
Izuku:'That was way easier than I thought it would be, am I this strong compared to her? It feels like I'm a final boss fighting a level 1 players'
Izuku started thinking back to all the times he felt weak and unable to do anything during his childhood, being bullied for his dreams, his quirk not coming and lastly on how far he had come since then.
Izuku:'I've changed so much in one short year since getting this quirk, my entire life outlook changed, I've become so much stronger and more confident.'
Izuku now with a small smile on his face turned back to Katsumi who was fuming.
Katsumi:"You! How dare you! Don't ignore me you damn Deku!"
Izuku:"Then come at me!"
They ran at one another engaging in melee combat, throwing punches, Katsumi using explosions and Izuku using his fire, neither gaining any ground on the other til Izuku separated at the top of the stairs once more.
Izuku:"Come on Katsumi! You gotta do better than that to defeat me!"
Katsumi:'Grrrr.' "I'll show you Deku! I'm not done yet!"
She rushed Izuku down once more attempting to close the gap and knock him away from the stairs
While she was rushing him Izuku was not idle, taking aim he prepared to launch off several flame bullets when Katsumi got close enough.
When they got in range Izuku started his rain of fire on Katsumi which she used a mid air blast to avoid and close the remaining gap to Izuku and sent him launching backwards into the hall with a charged blast from her other hand.
Izuku bounced across the ground a few times before stopping
Izuku:'ow, ow, ow. That kinda hurt, though not nearly as bad as taking a charged blast to the chest should, what health am I now?'

Izuku:'I'm barely even injured off that? Is she holding back against me? I didn't notice earlier because I was caught up in the fight, but she's far more experienced in melee combat than me, even with me having the cqc skill she should be able to force me back, but she didn't.'
While contemplating Katsumi's apparent reluctance to hurt him Izuku healed himself and stood up in the center of the hallway he was launched into.
Izuku:"I'm not the same as I used to be Katsumi! I'm not the defenseless quirkless kid anymore! So stop treating me like I'm less than you and holding back!"
Saying so Izuku rushed back at Katsumi fists alight in flames and struck her in the stomach launching her back into the wall followed by a firewave.
*Meanwhile with Katsumi after blasting Izuku down the hallway*
Katsumi:'Ha, that'll teach him!'
Izuku stood back up flames flaring briefly before going out and spoke back to Katsumi before rushing her.
Katsumi:'Shit! I can't dodge that!'
She was hit and launched back into the wall behind her cracking it and before she could get back up a firewave pushed her back into the wall singeing her and melting the wall behind her slightly.
Izuku:"Now get up and take me seriously!"
Katsumi was upset at his words, confused and upset and she didn't know why, so in classic fashion she responded with anger. He knew and her self built facade was breaking.
Katsumi:"GRRR, FINE THEN YOU WANT ME TO TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY? I WILL!"
She rushed back toward Izuku tanking the firewave he launched at her and used her explosions to push through it to get in melee range of a surprised Izuku and punched out at him with an explosion in her palm knocking Izuku back
Katsumi:"It's not over yet Deku!"
She launched herself forward to keep up with Izuku and struck him down into the ground with an explosion to the chest before trying to grab his arm and fling him back down the hallway only to be stopped by a flame igniting on the hand she was trying to grab.
Izuku taking the moment of distraction his flames provided kicked Katsumi back down the hallway giving himself breathing room but Katsumi wasn't giving in that easily.
Katsumi:"You think I'd just give you time to recover Deku! You wanted me to take you seriously SO I WILL!!"
Katsumi pulled on her gauntlet revealing a pin and then proceeded to pull on her other gauntlet revealing a second pin on her opposite gauntlets.
Katsumi:"AS YOU'VE PROBABLY ALREADY GUESSED THESE GAUNTLETS STORE MY SWEAT FOR ONE MEGA BLAST!"
Katsumi grabbed both pins with opposite arms and pulled.
*In the monitoring room*
Ochaco:"She's going to kill him with there!"
Eriko:"There's no way for him to survive a blast that large! Ma'am you've gotta do something!"
Nana picked up the mic and quickly spoke into it.
Gal-Might:"Bakugo stop this at once! If you unleash that blast it will kill him!"
But her voice was far too late to stop her.
*Back with Izuku*
Katsumi was blinded in her confused anger and prepared to launch the blast at Izuku.
Izuku:'Rebirth of the Phoenix still hasn't evolved even though I can control it much easier than before,
I'm sure it can't block something like this!'
Izuku was trying to figure out a way to block the oncoming explosion and was having very little luck.
Izuku:'Her twin explosions will blow right through my flames, and I don't have enough mana for a barrier strong enough to stop that! What can I do to stop her! Think Izuku! quickly!'
Izuku thought back to the shadow attack once more and how he unleashed everything at once.
Izuku:'If I can funnel that into one direction instead of all around me it should be more than enough to block it, now focus! I can already use OFA and Phoenix together so forcing all three shouldn't be much more difficult'
Izuku pushed his right arm out in front of him and pulled his flames powered by OFA into his hand causing it to glow a virescent green-orange.
Izuku then pushed mana into the mix causing a blue sheen to glow around the flames.
Izuku:'No this isn't right. They're working in tandem not combining, I need to force them to come together!'
Izuku forced everything in his hand to compress until it coagulated in one unstable white flame.
Izuku:"Now go!"
Izuku unleashed the flames causing a white blaze to dash down the hallway just as Katsumi got the pins out causing her own twin explosions to race down to meet it.
The explosions and flame clashed spreading outwards breaking apart the hallway they were in and blinding the two with the light generated.
The struggle continued for a moment before the explosions weakend getting consumed by the flame as it rushed forward and crashed into Katsumi consuming her for a moment.
As the flames dissipated she was barely standing up covered in burns.

Katsumi spoke in a barely audible whisper.
Katsumi:"You beat me, even at my strongest using my strongest attacks you blew past the like they were nothing"
Izuku slowly walked over to Katsumi as she was speaking.
Katsumi:"For so many years I tried to dissuade you from being a hero."
She was tearing up at this point and fell onto her knee unable to continue standing.
Katsumi:"When it seemed like you were quirkless, hoping you wouldn't throw your life away in a hopeless pursuit, and as you kept going and wanting to be one, I continued to escalate my efforts."
Katsumi was crying with her head looking down covering her eyes.
Katsumi:"Eventually although I can't say exactly when it went from dissuading to bullying and it kept getting worse and I kept trying but you wouldn't ever stop, and, and now you've got your quirk and you can take me down at my strongest and- a-and I'M SORRY"
Katsumi was bawling as Izuku bent down and hugged her.
Izuku:"Its ok I know you meant well, I forgive you"
Katsumi continued crying into his shoulder for a few more moments before the stress of her emotions and injuries overwhelmed her and she passed out.
Gal-Might and the others in the monitoring room were speechless for a moment before she pulled herself back together and spoke into the mic
Gal-Might:"Villain team wins!"
Izuku picked up the now adorably sleeping Katsumi in his arms and tried to stand up only to have his legs immediately give out and him to pass out on the ground.

Everyone was floored at the events that had unfolded in front of them. Gal-Might snapped out of it first and sent two students to deliver the passed out students to the nurses office and to retrieve Ibara.
*A few minutes later in the monitoring room*
Gal-Might:"Now can anyone tell me who the MVP for this match was?"
Momo Immediately raised her hand.
Gal-Might:"Yaoyorozu what is your take?"
Momo:"Midoriya-san is clearly the MVP here he was able to extrapolate a theory about the unknown weaknesses of Shiozaki-san's quirk and quickly test it in combat which led to it quickly becoming a 1v1 fight upon which he was able to defend himself from an illegal move from Bakugou-san of immense power with minimal injuries."
By the end of her statement everyone was gawking at her like she'd grown a second head and upon noticing the stares she looked a bit embarrassed.
Gal-Might:'She didn't even leave much for me to say...smart kid I'll give her that.'
Gal-Might:"Excellent deduction young Yaoyorozu! Does anyone else have anything they'd like to add?"
After seeing a few head shakes they moved onto the rest of the battles.
*Meanwhile in the nurse's office an hour after they arrived*
Izuku's eyes fluttered open to a new message

Izuku:'Note to self: don't antagonize Katsumi, and the new skill looks cool although the drawback seems worrying if I'm already overdrafting my stamina it means I will already passout after it ends so I'll be low hp and unable to defend myself. I'm choosing to ignore the rest of those messages'
Izuku spread out his healing flame bringing himself back up to full health before getting up and looking around and noticing he was back in the nurse's office.
Getting off the bed he was provided he pulled back the privacy curtain surrounding his bed and stepped out. Next to him he saw another curtain drawn and past that he saw Recovery Girl at her desk doing some paperwork.
Izuku:"Good afternoon Recovery girl, how long have I been out?"
Izuku walked up to her after saying this.
Chiyo at hearing him speak turned around and was still slightly startled at him being in perfect health.
Chiyo:"I swear kiddo you and your quirk are gonna give me a heart attack one of these days, you've only been out for about an hour, though I imagine your friend they brought in with you will be out for awhile longer."
Izuku:"Oh! Katsumis here? Is it alright if I use my quirk to heal her? It is kinda my fault she's in this condition in the first place."
Izuku had a sheepish look on his face as he stated this.
Chiyo:"Don't worry kiddo you've already been cleared by the school as having a medical support quirk so you can aid students on campus freely, healing quirks are quite rare so it's always nice to have a student on campus with one. I'm also very curious to see your quirk in action after reading your student file and talking to Nana."
Izuku had a shocked look on his face after hearing her.
Izuku:'They do things like that? Secondly and perhaps more importantly.'
Izuku:"You know Nana?"
Chiyo either not noticing his shocked look or ignoring it answered calmly.
Chiyo:"You aren't the only one that damaged their body when using that quirk initially you know, not everyone is lucky enough to have such a strong healing quirk at the ready to repair any damaged limbs"
Bt the end of her statement amusement was clear in her words.
Izuku:"I suppose that makes sense, so you've known Nana for a long time?"
As they were talking they moved over to Katsumi's bed so Izuku could begin healing her.
Chiyo:"Pretty much ever since I became a pro, her teacher Toshinori confided in me when he planned to take up a successor just in case any broken limbs occurred, luckily she got control of it quite fast but we still kept up with one another to this day, she talks quite a bit about you, just about as much as she talked about Toshinori whenever she had to have her bones fixed while he was still alive."
Izuku:"Nana talks about me?"
Chiyo:"She does quite a bit, after the entrance exams were over we caught up and she spoke on and on about this young man she chose to be her successor and how he gave her a new lease on life, and after looking at the status of her injury I have to agree, you really patched her up I've seen her go to experts around the world that couldn't do what you did kid."
As Chiyo finished Izuku finished healing up Katsumi and turned back to her.
Izuku:"I heard about All-Might passing when I was younger on the foreign news channel but there were no real details on it, do you know what happened?"
Chiyo:"That, you will have to ask Nana about it's not my story to tell"
Izuku:"Hm, well thank you for the information Recovery Girl, now that Katsumi is patched up I should get back to the remainder of my class"
Chiyo:"Very well, just call me Chiyo no need to be so formal I do expect you to stop by and help around the office with your quirk, and one last thing before you go, take care of Nana will you, she needs it after the things she's been through."
Izuku nodded his head and turned to head back to class with a few more things on his mind than before.

Well this took so long to write and went through about 6 re writes because character growth is hard for me to write, although because you guys have to put up with me I'm releasing a "spicy" ;) Omake of Izuku's first sparring room experience comes out shortly after this is published :). And i do apologize for how long this took to get out, i wasn't ever happy with the chap and the fight felt really unsatisfying and it was only the end of last week that I actually figured out where it was going.
