Slowly opening my eyes, I looked up at the wooden ceiling. Everything was dark and hazy for a few minutes before everything cleared up, though the surroundings were still dark. Must be late in the evening.
I got up and looked around the room I was in. It seemed to be a traditional japanese style room with a kotatsu in the center of the room, a flat-screen tv on the wall opposite my tatami mat, and a desk with a pc slightly beside the tatami mat I had gotten up from.
Making my way over to a sliding door near the foot of my tatami mat, I slid it open and entered a small bathroom with a shower and a full body-length mirror. Standing before it I looked at my new body.
Wearing a white robe and with an average height of a 14-year-old was a young Akutagawa. He had a thin body frame, his skin as pale as the moonlight that filtered through the window. Looking at his face, he had slightly above the shoulder-length black hair with frosted tips and sharp dull grey eyes with visible bags that made him look sickly.
Slowly the memories of the previous owner of this body came in. I saw numerous scenes in the first-person perspective in a hospital room, my parents of this world accompanying me through the gardens among other things.
I am Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, a boy with a mutated version of pleurisy that made me incapable of going to school without being monitored, thus being homeschooled by my mother. My parents, Iwao Akutagawa and Natsuko Akutagawa are owners of a reputable tea house and spend most of their days with Ryūnosuke, or well, me now I guess. Their quirks are Rock Fortress, which allows Iwao to manipulate any surrounding rock to create a solid defense, and Solar Panel, which allows Natsuko to absorb sunlight and convert it into a dischargeable beam of energy.
My body has been getting much better over time so last night my parents had been discussing with the previous owner of my body what high school he would like to attend. Obviously, his choice was UA, being inspired by bunny ears blondie and all that.
While I was doing a recap I suddenly coughed up a large amount of blood into my hand. Choking, I spat the rest of the blood in my mouth into the sink, the dark crimson liquid staining the pearl white porcelain.
That ROB, he could've at least cut me some slack and cured this illness. What a dick. Screw you ROB.
As I said that I heard a pat on the window and looked over to see pigeon crap and an indignant squawk followed.
"Oh screw you" I pointed a middle finger at what I assumed was the ROB taking over the mind of the bird. I hope it's not, cause if it is then he could potentially screw me over by getting OP villains to storm my house right now. Oh Venerable ROB, show mercy.
Washing the metallic blood out my mouth I took in a deep breath and released it, a smile forming on my face. A new life and a badass edgy quirk. I'm gonna reach the top and become the strongest, this world has no place for the weak!
Huh? Since when have I ever wanted to be the strongest? Ah! Didn't ROB tell me I'd get everything from Akutagawa, including his personality? This is gonna be a bit of an issue but I'll deal with it later. I don't mind becoming the strongest. I don't have much goals besides just living quietly along with hero work or starting a family of my own in the future. With power, I don't have to worry about another bald faceless loser. I'm talking about you All-For-One.
Laying back down in my tatami mat, I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. I can't wait to take these powers on a test drive.
<<<<<The Next Morning>>>>>
Yawning, I stood up from my tatami mat and made my way to the bathroom, doing the usual routine of my past self. Finishing up I pulled on a black haori and slid into some geta, making my way to the dining room, where a lovely smell wafted into my nose.
Pulling open the sliding door gently, I saw a muscular but gentle faced man with stone grey hair that was spiked up sipping tea and a woman with pitch black hair, pale skin and shining grey eyes.
Upon noticing me enter she greeted me with a beaming smile. "Ryu, you're up at the perfect time. I just made breakfast" she said warmly as the man nodded his head towards me. These were my parents.
"Morning mom, dad" I greet them and take my seat opposite my mother and to the left of my father at the head. Clasping my hands I eat my breakfast till my mother breaks the silence.
"Ryu, we'll be taking you to the hospital for a check-up today and if the doctor says you're in good condition...you can go to UA!" she says excitedly, pumping her fist in the air.
I nod at her with a smile and we continue to talk about minor things for a while before leaving for the hospital. Along the way I look out of the car at the passing pedestrians. People with different mutations like beaks and horns and flowers sprouting from their bodies and people in colorful outfits hopping from roof to roof. I really am in a world where superpowers exist.
Arriving at the hospital we wait in the doctors office. My doctor is a short old man with a bushy mustache and dark goggles over his eyes. Doctor Kyudai. He's been doing the regular check-ups on me whenever I come to the hospital with my parents and he's a pretty decent guy.
Or well, that's what the previous owner of this body thought. I, on the other hand, know that he's a pretty suspicious character. Working with All-For-One and creating the Nomus.
I don't remember too much but I do know he's not to be trusted and eventually I'm gonna have to do something about him. But that's for the future.
The door opens and in comes Doctor Kyudai. I should probably be on edge but I'm not. There's no way that All-For-One would try to take my quirk because I haven't been capable of displaying it's full potential in the past. So I'm pretty safe for now.
After a few tests I was given the approval to do the UA entrance exams. I was pretty worried for a bit.
Arriving back home, my father took me to the gardens. As we walked over the bridge built over our artificial river, he suddenly span around and charged at me. It was so fast that I didn't even have the chance to blink.
His hand came down in a chop towards my head, the wind whistling from its speed. I shut my eyes and put up my arms in a weak attempt at blocking his strike...But it never came. I felt my hair swaying wildly but I didn't feel the eventual impact.
Opening my eyes I looked up to see my father shaking his head with a smile on his face.
"As you are now, you are weak. You have no combat experience and you didn't even use your quirk to defend yourself. If you want to pass the entrance exam, you'll need training, and that's exactly what we're gonna be doing for these few months till you need to go. Are you prepared?" He asked me stone-faced, his eyes radiating a formless pressure.
Clenching my fist, I looked him straight in the eyes and said, "I'll do it. After all, I need to be strong to survive".
We stood staring at each other for a while as a soft breeze made our robes flutter. Eventually, a burst of laughter was heard from my father who wiped a tear from his eye.
"Now that's the spirit. Let's get started then, this isn't going to be easy" He said. And so began my hellish training with my father.
