Chapter 11: Why are people from this world so arrgoant?

A young girl that wore simple clothing attacked a dummy relentlessly with a blue spear "I'll like to see that brat try to get revenge" she grumbled under her breath. A young maid watched her young lady attack the poor training dummy out of pure anger from the earlier banter with that young master Zhen Xai.

I fought the wooden dummy relentlessly, venting out all of my frustrations "Noble children these days are so arrogant!" with a final thrust of my spear I drilled a hole straight through the wooden dummy.

"My lady since when have you become this strong?" Sir Lai asked in amazement, Cheng Chin grinned at the guard captain "my lady has been practicing the arts of the spear with old Lou" she stated proudly.

I place the spearhead into the ground and leaned on it to catch my breath "Sir Lai has anyone been trying to get into the training grounds?" I asked once I have caught some breath. Sir Lai nodded his head.

"Some of the princes have tried coming in so I have shown them the badge that imperial emperor Guiying Dishi Hao had given to us" he replied calmly.

I hummed in thought "Cheng Chin can you spare with me?" I asked her out of nowhere, she furrow her brows before agreeing "Sure my lady, I won't go easy on you" Cheng Chin stated in a serious tone that's unbefitting of a girl at her age.

I smirked at her "Neither will I, Sir Lai make sure no one sneaks in" I order him before swinging my blue spear around. Cheng Chinn pulled out a Guandao which is a pole-like weapon that has a thick blade at the end.

It is similar to a spear but with many curves on top of the blade, unlike a spear the Guandao weighs a ton, making it difficult to hold onto. Usually, you would see this type of weapon being used on horseback.

Cheng Chin used both hands to hold onto the long pole and swung the blade with grace towards my head, I blocked the blade with my spears pole and sent a kick towards Cheng Chin. Unfortunately, the gods weren't in my favor, she blocked me with a kick of her own.

I pushed her guandao off of my spear and backed away from her range, Cheng Chin charged towards me not letting me recover from our earlier clash. Ding!

I blocked her attack again and thrust my spearhead towards her stomach, she blocked it with ease using her guandao pole. The fight continues till I had the guandao pointed to my throat, my hair devilish from the intense workout.

Cheng Chin put away her Guandao and lifted me to my feet, my legs and arms felt extremely sore, and not to mention I am breathing harder than the guys from horror movies.

I used Cheng Chin as a supporting pillar and gasped for air, Cheng Chin had a few cuts here and there but they looked to be very minor.

She breathe steadily as if she didn't spend the last hour whooping my ass and giving me false hope of winning against her. Sir Lai Clapped his hands "You fought well your highness, now shall I escort you back to your room to get changed into clothes that are more befitting of your status?" Sir Lai asked with a rare smile appearing on his thin lips.

I nodded my head, he came over and place a cloak onto me to help hide my horrid state, if news came out that I walked out of the training grounds looking like I got my ass beaten several times it would tarnish my reputation.

I would rather care less about my dysfunctional family, people care about-face here and filial piety. So in other words despite not being too fond of this body family I have to act like the perfect angel in front of others.

Well as perfect as trash can be anyways. I made it back to my room and went for a short power nap before changing into clothing befitting my status "Cheng Chin tomorrow is the ball correct?" I asked as she brushed out my long black hair.

She paused for a moment before resuming brushing out the knots in my hair "Yes my lady" she replied calmly. Later that night I sat in the formation under the light of the moon unlike before I slowly refined the moon essence I have taken.

As the effects of refining my essence under the moon are greater I spend the whole night refining my moon essence, when I open my eyes I felt slightly stronger and more at ease than before.

I checked the white mini-moon, it looked a bit purer than before. I slowed down my breathing and mainly focus on the essence that flowed through my body, I took the strains I have yet to purify and started removing the impurities with great care.

In my little space, I mentally weaved my hands through the strings of moon essence despite it taking much longer than working on refining the essence under the moon. Every bit is worth it. Only after I have refined a good chunk of my essence I would then proceed to moon essence refinement stage 2.

After an unknown amount of time, I open my eyes and stretched my numbed limbs. Angel stood in front of me in his normal form, his eyes brightening up upon noticing that I have come out of the meditative state.

"My child you need to be on high alert when you attend the ball in a few hours" Angel stated gently, he has that usual kind smile gracing his holy features. I raised an eyebrow at him "what or who should I be alert about?" I asked sincerely worried.

Like I don't think Guiying Xeirern or Guiying Xiang are planning to kill me anytime soon or they would've tried to kill me on that roof. Is there another death flag here or is there going to be a trigger event like in those RPG games I used to play for research?

"Just keep your eye out for anyone who is acting strange" Angel stated, for a moment he scrunched his face into disgust before switching back to that fatherly smile. I nodded my head, Cheng Chin barge into my room looking extremely flushed, I swear I can see steam coming out of her ears.

"Cheng Chin, what happens? You look so red are you sick?!" my eyes widen upon seeing her face red as a strawberry. Cheng Chin look down at the ground and tears started to slide down her cheeks.

At first, I thought she may have just been hit on but seeing her tears fall, made me feel somewhat upset. I held her small face in my hands "Cheng Chin please tell me who is bullying you?" my voice came out in a soft whisper.

"M-my lady this woman came up to me saying I stole her white jade bracelet," Cheng Chin said in-between sobs, I rubbed her back to help comfort her. "Then what happen Cheng Chin?" I asked softly. She sniffled as more tears poured out of her eyes.

"S-she got her maid to do a body search on me and found the white jade bracelet that you gave to me and claimed that the bracelet belong to her. I pleaded with her to give me back the gift you have given to me" she sobbed harder than I have ever seen her before.

I searched through the previous host memories and to my surprise she had given Cheng Chin a bracelet for her tenth birthday, on the inside of the bracelet Qaihong Gho had a sentence engraved into it.

"I'll break their bones if they dare strike you, their attacks will never reach you"

Qaihong Gho had personally written this sentence for Cheng Chin because of the loyalty she has always shown. By this alone you could tell how much the eighth princess Qaihong Gho cared for her maid.

I give her a reassuring pat on the head "Cheng Chin please help me get ready and don't worry I will get the white jade bracelet back for you" I started with a genuine smile gracing my face. Cheng Chin wiped away her tears "A-alright my lady" she stammered before she started getting my bath ready.

After my bath, I dressed in that cheongsam dress that is purple and black. Nevertheless, this dress kept me covered from any prying eyes. Unlike cheongsam for adult females, they also have some for some of the younger girls as well.
