55 The strongest team

"Are you serious? That fucker came into our own training ground and said what?" Yanagi furiously stood up.

"Sit down, there's nothing we can do about it anyway." Miyata sighed as he looked back at Jude. "Was he really that strong?"

"No way—"

Akira jumped up on the occasion to degrade Karasu but Jude stopped him once again. "He is. He's by far the strongest player we will have to face in the first selection. His dribbles and his defence are what we should be the most careful of."

"Even so, I don't think they're stronger than us." Ichikawa joined in on the conversation, alongside his little brother. "We already won against Team W, and nearly won against Team Z even back when our formation was based on nothing other than a rock paper Scissor game."

"I never said we're weak." Jude corrected.

"Our team might be one of the strongest, but as of right now, we're still lacking. I don't know the whole lineup of Team V, but the two players we met are bad news." He added.

"Well, we can always check their last game against Team Y, our next opponent. I remember they won 6-0 so I can understand Jude's worry."

After hearing Miyata's words, everyone agreed to meet up the next day and watch the replay of the game between Team V and Team Y. Both of which are going to be their next opponents.

"So those are the last opponents we'll have to defeat...?" Michio asked in a shaky voice at the end of the replay.

6-0.

The score really did reflect how the match went.

Jude gained a lot of information from this simple replay which relieved him a lot. His biggest worry was that perhaps another monster was lurking in Team V or Team Y.

Luckily, that wasn't the case, the only other player whose appearance was notable was the striker of Team Y who's known to have reached the third selection — as well as another character from Team V who also made it to the third selection.

Jude's memories were too blurry for him to remember their names, but one thing was sure. They both were around Akira's level.

'It's better than them having 3 monsters, but that's still one more headache I have to worry about.' Jude thought to himself as he watched the players of Team V celebrate on the recording.

4 of the 6 goals were scored by none other than Karasu himself.

The other 2 goals were scored by the snake-looking man, thanks to the information provided to Jude by ego, he was able to find the name of that player — Aiki Himizu.

The worst thing was that 5 out of those 6 goals were scored in the second half, once the players finally learned how to play together. Everyone knew that the score could've been even worse.

"I can't even tell if that can be called a humiliation. Team Y is strong... But Team V is just at another level, it's as you said Jude, those two are real monsters." Yanagi commented as he unconsciously clutched his fists.

"We will need to train as hard as we can if we want to have a chance to win against those monsters," Miyata added as he looked through the recordings one more time.

"Damnit! I can't stay here after seeing that. I'm going to the training ground." Yanagi stood up in a fit, and soon enough most of the players followed after him and exited the monitoring room.

Only Jude and Miyata remained seated.

"I expected you to go join them." Miyata blurted out.

"I really want to. If I'm being honest, I'm doing my best to hold back right now."

"Why wouldn't you join them?"

"I just think that I have a lot more to gain from watching the next few games of the day," Jude answered with an excited smile.

"So you're also here for that, huh." Miyata took one last look at Jude before taking the remote for the big TV and switching up from the recording of the match between Team V and Team Y to the current live match between Team Z and Team Y.

Today, two matches were planned, with Team X getting to rest longer than usual.

The first game was Team Z against Team Y. Although both Miyata and Jude didn't hold much interest in it, they still believed that it would be a nice opportunity to learn more about their next opponents.

With that in mind, they watched as Team Z dominated the first half.

With a team that was now centered around Yukimiya and a lot more organized, their offensive prowess was impressive, to say the least.

They scored three goals in the first half. Earning themselves a comfortable advantage.

Surprisingly, the second half was under Team Y's control, the player known as Kairu Saramadara somehow changed his position from striker to midfielder and began coordinating all of their attacks as well as their defence.

Thanks to that, they scored a miracle goal. This shocked both of the strategic masterminds of Team X.

Unfortunately, miracles only happen once. Shortly after, reality caught up to them as Yukimiya scored one more goal.

"4-1 against the new Team Z. They're not bad, but far from being able to win against us," Jude commented.

"We still need to be careful," Miyata advised as he took the remote and switched to Team V's game against Team W.

This was the match both of them were initially interested in. Two of the strongest teams were about to go against each other, this would be the best opportunity for them to figure out a potential counterplay against Team V.

Both Jude and Miyata completely forgot about the outside world as they immersed themselves in the screen in front of them.

They made sure to watch as attentively as they could, hoping to find out any weakness they could exploit.

They both got so engrossing in it, that they forgot to eat anything and instead kept their eyes glued to the screen for the next hour and a half.

"That's just crazy..."
