Chapter One : Just Pick up the Phone

** Sa Jiao 撒娇: means childish or to act spoiled. Usually used towards your parents, older family members and lover. Not common in western relationships.

Sheng Mo Ying has been staring at Lan Jun Yi 's WeChat Page for about three days in a row. Every single time she found an ounce of courage to begin typing, someone or something distracts her, causing the bracing period to restart.

In her brain, she has already came up with one thousand and fifty ways to begin the conversation, but for some reason, she is still terrified of taking the first step beyond staring at his page.

Come on, Mo Ying, it's not like you're confessing your feelings to him.

Sheng Mo Ying looks at the time on her phone : 8:15pm. Mo Ying you have to get this done tonight.

Sheng Mo Ying bites her index finger as she use her spare hand to finally tap on the screen, causing the keyboard to pop up. The blue cursor begins to flash. There is no turning back. Mo Ying begins to type her message using the Chinese simplified Pinyin keyboard.

'Hey, Jun Yi. I'm planning to move to Hai City from Nan Fu. Do you think you could help me find an apartment?'

Message sent @ 8:16pm.

Sheng Mo Ying can already feel her blood pressure rising and her cheek heating up. She tries to fan herself like Sharpie from the High School Musical at the beginning of bop to the top without the smile.

Message seen @ 8:16pm.

Replying ....

Sheng Mo Ying's eyes widen as she realize that Lan Jun Yi has already seen her message, and is already replying.

Sheng Mo Ying braces herself for the message when the typing stopped. Sheng Mo Ying tries to refresh her WeChat, only for Lan Jun Yi to begin calling her.

Sheng Mo Ying stares at the red decline button and green accept button in a trench. It wasn't until the call ended did Sheng Mo Ying realized that her palms were sweating.

'Momo, are you scared to talk to me on the phone? I can't bite you over the phone.' Lan Jun Yi sends.

Why do you have to put it like that? She blushes, I'm not scared...I'm not scared of you. I'm just...I'm just nervous, okay? I'm nervous because I have an undeniable crush on you and I won't be able to hide under my blanket and contemplate about the present and future while cringing at myself before replying to you.

'No, I just walked away for a second.' Sheng Mo Ying sends. God damit, I don't even believe in this bullshit, he's not going to be me either.

Right as Sheng Mo Ying is about to explain her lie, Lan Jun Yi calls Sheng Mo Ying again.

Mo Ying Conscious 1 : I truly wish the ground beneath me would open up and swallow me whole.

Mo Ying Conscious 2 : Come On, Sheng Mo Ying, just pick up the phone. What's the worst thing that can happen?

Mo Ying Conscious 1 : Everything!

Mo Ying Conscious 2 : He literally answered your message as soon as he saw it. That has to mean something. He's Lan Jun Yi, you know his true background now, the third young master of the Lan Family. The new ceo of the Lan Inc. He's a busy man, and he's making time for you.

Mo Ying Conscious 1 : he made time to take us to Hawaii for Christmas break, and the next day he told me he has a girlfriend named Chu Xiao Wan. I'm sure he's just on his phone playing games. His company has a video game Department.

Mo Ying Conscious 3 : stop talking to yourself and pick up the damn phone!

Mo Ying Conscious 1 & 2 : don't tell us what to do!

And of course, the phone call expired.

'Mo-mo. I'll give you one more chance to pick up my phone call. If you don't pick up this time, I'm going to video call you. Then you'll Not only be forced to talk to me, but also see me.' Lan Jun Yi sends.

Sheng Mo Ying gulps as she looks down at her bunny onesie, she can only imagine his reaction along with her embarrassment.

Lan Jun Yi calls. Sheng Mo Ying picks up the phone. ~ 9:00pm.

"I was really hoping that this call expired so I could see your face, but I guess you don't want to see me," Lan Jun Yi says in a teasing tone.

"Why can't we just text each other," Sheng Mo Ying pouts. Her voice is filled with enough Sa Jiao to make Lan Jun Yi chuckle.

"Because I want to hear your voice." Lan Jun Yi says in the same tone, before switching back to his normal voice, "I also don't want to wait one hour before you send me your next message."

"It wouldn't take me one hour!" Sheng Mo Ying denies. It would take way longer!

"You're correct. It'll take you about one day. Remember when I asked you to order pizza on my phone while I was taking a shower? Yeah, I ended up ordering the pizza." Lan Jun Yi replies, "anyways, how do you have guts to move away from your family and friends when you can even pick up a phone?"

"Well, I'm going to Hai City because a famous donghua company called Tang Yuan. They have decided to take a few of my dongman and turn them into donghua. They allowed me to direct and have 100% say in the production. So I took up the ofter." Sheng Mo Ying says. "I looked up a few apartments, could you or one of your assistances/secretaries go and checked them out for me?"

"You have two options," Lan Jun Yi says, "You can move in with me or you can move into an apartment across from me with my little cousin."

"What?" Sheng Mo Ying questions, "that wasn't what I asked for?!"

"I'll give you one day to think about it. My cousin is a girl, she's a year older than you, currently interning under her sister at their family Lawfirm." Lan Jun Yi says. "There is enough room in either apartments for you to get a bedroom and an office room."

"Did you even ask your cousin for her opinion in this matter?" Sheng Mo Ying asks.

"She's not allowed to move out alone, because doesn't have enough independent skills. We are trying to find her a couple of roommate." Lan Jun Yi says. "It'll help you make friends in Hai City."

"And how does putting two dependent girls in the same apartment going to help?" Sheng Mo Ying asks.

"You'll be living in the same place, if anything happens, it's literally three steps from my front door." Lan Jun Yi says.

"Can you give me her WeChat? I want to talk to her before intruding into her private space." Sheng Mo Ying says.

> Mo means ink for Chinese calligraphy.

> Ying means Sakura or cherry blossoms

> Jiu Er means ninth child, it is her nickname since birth, only some of her family members call her this. Mo-mo and Xiao Ying are nicknames created to shorten her name by friends.
