Chapter 2

||Jacob's Pov||

"Samuel, I'm off to school." I took my new bag and put my phone into it. I went to the backyard to take out my bicycle.

"...Damn, Who knew, All the planes we flew..." I took out my ringing phone from my bag.

"Hey Jare, Are you at the school already?" I said as I picked up.

"I'm at the front of your house door with my Hyundai, let's have a race." She said.

I laughed at what she said, Jare was a girl who love to have fun no matter what. I'm so glad we came to the new city together. "Race ke? Car and bicycle." I laughed. "I'm not racing o, I can't have an accident on my first day in the new school."

"Uhm, I've heard you. fear fear."

I moved the bicycle outside and saw Jare resting on her car outside my dad's new house which he kind of rented of course. "Good morning." I hugged her and got on my bicycle.

"Let's start," She said and entered her car. "...3...2...Go!"

"I said I'm not..." But the mad girl has started her car already.

We started the race through the not so busy road. Thankfully, only school students walking were the ones on that road. I rode faster even as I already know she'll get to school before me.

She entered the school before I did and parked not too far from a tree.

I parked close to the tree and beside her and I took off my small helmet. "Nice cheating girl." I said as she came out of her car.

I noticed a big inscription on the wall of the high building showing 'Welcome to Royal Lake College'.

"I didn't cheat and you know that, I didn't even drive fast."She smiled widely and walked towards me.

"Okay, let's go to the principal to know the class we'll be at. I hope I'll love this school." I said as we looked around. "The school is even more better than when we came with our parents."

"Yeah."

I'm Jacob Sanwo, 17, first male child of the Sanwo's family. I'm a Lagos indigene from Ikorodu, I live with my father and brother, Samuel. My mother passed away when I was 14, just few days after I finished my Junior Secondary school.

My father moved us to Abuja because of his new job and also because of what I had done some time after my mother's death.

My favorite color is red, I love Music. I am actually a singer, I was a member of the band in my old school.

My favorite food is beans and bread. We moved to Abuja since Sunday and today is Wednesday, now I'm on my way to the principal's office in my new school.

We went to the principal's office and he called the SS3 Arts class teacher. "Miss Jadeola, Good morning." The principal said as she came inside.

"Good morning Mr Joel." The teacher responded, smiling at us.

"Here are the two new students I said they were joining your class. They'll give you their cards, they are both in Arts department." Mr Joel said.

"Hello Students, Where did you transfer from?"

"We transferred from Bells College." I responded.

"Oh, that's good. It's actually the school I finished my senior school certificate. Welcome to Royal Lake, Give me your cards." Miss Jadeola collected our cards.

"Follow me, you're staying at the class I have now." The teacher walked and we followed.

We got to the class and did our introduction, I looked around the class and noticed a girl, A brown eyed beauty. A very light one at that.

I'm sure she wasn't the only one with brown eyes but something made me feel like I know her from somewhere. And unable to remember it is making me sick.

The teacher told us to have our seats and I walked towards the girl's seat, as I got closer she put her bag on the chair beside her. I smiled and sat on the chair behind her.

Class started but we didn't do much because it was time for PHE. It wasn't compulsory at my old school, I wondered why we had to do it as a trade course here.

Well, this is Abuja and there is Lagos.

I went to Jare and we went out together, I remembered the brown eyed girl but I didn't see her around.

"What are you looking for?" Jare asked.

"Nothing," I said. We took our sports clothes from the locker and went to change at our separate rooms.

I came outside and saw Jare standing outside the girl's changing room. "What happened? Why are you not changing your clothes?"

Jare looked at me raising her brows. "They are a lot of people in there, I can't."

"Oh," I mouthed. "Let's wait till they are all gone." I smiled at her.

"I don't know how the girls here will be, I don't want any bullying just like the new girls at our old school were bullied." She mumbled. "Have you found the music club?"

"We got here together remember?"

"Oh yeah." Soon, all the girls in the changing room came out and Jare went inside to change her clothes. "Let's go."

*

I got into the class alone as Jare said she was going to find out if they are dancing groups in the school. My best female friend is a dancer.

I looked at my seat, Michael wasn't there. It was only the brown eyed girl in the colomn of chairs. She almost looks like she wasn't African. But she is, I guess.

I walked towards her and saw that she was playing a game on her phone. It's like she doesn't even have friends.

"Hi," I said. Here goes nothing.

She looked up at me and said "Hi" then she faced her game. Her voice made me almost losing control.

I breathed in, "I'm Jacob, what's your name?" I tried to act cool, even though I know I'm failing woefully at it.

She frowned at me "I'm Blue, I don't mean to be rude but I'm busy right now."

Blue?, I thought to myself. "Ok but-" I was cut short by the ringing of the school bell.

The girl took her bag and left the class. I looked at her as she left not knowing that some of my new classmates too were looking at her. Or maybe she knows that she draws too much attention with a massive backside and hips.

Jare came inside with a smile on her face, "Why are you staring at the door?"

"I'm not, shut up. What's up?"

"I found the group, they have a lot of members too. I even met some of our new classmates there. Even the guy who sits beside me is a member."

"Wow, that's good." I said. "I'm hungry let's go for lunch."

"And probably make friends too."

As I walked I kept on wondering how the heck a Nigerian girl would be named 'Blue'.

*

We got to the parking lot where we parked. "I'll see you in school tomorrow. I'm not coming to your house tomorrow."

"I know, you've told me before." I got on my bicycle and tried to move it but it was locked.

"What's wrong with your bicycle?" Jare rested her back on her car.

"I don't know, it's locked and I can't unlock it." I said still trying it.

"The person is not only new but also stupid" I heard a voice that sounds so insanely familiar. I looked up and saw Blue coming towards us.

"What are you doing on my bicycle?" she asked. Her voice almost made me lose my mind again.

"Your bicycle? Sorry it's mine." I said. "Maybe you parked somewhere else."

She looked at me, shaking her head "You parked in my space and I moved your bicycle somewhere else. Don't you see the registered number of the bicycle?"

I got down and looked at the bicycle, it was not mine. "Where's my bicycle?"

"At the other side of the Hyundai." she said and got on her bicycle and rode off.

I watched as she left, "I like her." I commented. "Blue."

"There's something about her that seem so familiar." Jare said.

I furrowed my brows at her.

"I just can't place it." She paused like she had remembered something. "It's Maria."

"Wait..." I paused. "Yes, that's it. I've been trying to place it but I couldn't."

"They look so much alike except that Blue has more like an American girl face." Jare paused to look at me "Jacob, Are..."

"I'm fine, I'm serious. Let's go."

I went to the other side and took my bicycle. Jare got into her car and we went home.

"We're here Sir," I said as I got outside with Samuel.

My Dad looked at us, "I don't have much to say, we're having breakfast with the neighbors tomorrow."

"Oh, your business partner right?" Samuel asked. He was the only one free with our dad, I was close to my mum only but she left early. I didn't have this strong relationship with my dad, he always blames me for almost everything. Well I'm not a good kid either.

"Yes."

"Okay Sir." I said and we went into our room. You would have noticed, it's been a long time I called him Dad and I don't think I'm doing that soon.

"I will be with Stacy tomorrow." Samuel said.

"You said she's in your class right?"

"Yes, maybe we'll meet her elder sister tomorrow. The elder sister she's always talking about."

"Maybe," I shrugged and fell on the bed. "I'm tired abeg."

"Come and play the guitar tonight naw." Samuel whined.

"Wo, see. I'm tired as hell right now."

**

'Wo' means 'Look' in Yoruba Language of Nigeria

Abeg means Please

Naw also means Please but in a not very respectful way.
