Chapter 15: I DO NOT HAVE ANY MONEY
The cab drove off smoothly and she had managed to escape from Alex and was already far away from the pack.
"Uh, Mr, please drop me here." She said hiding the hint of worry in her tone. The taxi driver stopped as instructed by his hands asking for a transportation fee.
"I'll pull them from my trousers, let me maintain a more comfortable position." She said opening the door and standing to remove the cash that she didn't have.
Eva prayed for good luck to locate her but if it was all about good luck then she was out of it. Luck had never been with her and that is why she was an Omega with a crippled wolf.
She turned summoning all the energy left in her body and ran as far as she could. "Thief, help me catch her," The cab driver screamed at the top of his voice and everyone who heard his words signaled the rest with screams that revolved all over the market center.
Eva regretted her decision, this was a town in X City, a place known as Vision Hybrid. There were not only werewolves but also vampires and other creatures alongside normal human beings.
Her eyes grew the calculative measure on which sides not to take as she kept forcing her already weak body. She was about to jump over the fence that safeguarded the Monster Killer Pack from other packs when her back was hit with a huge rod on her back.
With a long painful moan, her body landed on the ground as she angrily and miserably turned to look at the crowd of onlookers plus those ready to end her life.
"I swear I didn't steal anything from him, I just didn't have some dollars to offer as fair and he accused me of Stealing." She tried to defend herself.
"Are you sure about that?" Asked one of the men ready to rip her soul over her body. Eva who had always been at the verge of breaking down and trying hard to protect herself using her own ability raised her head looking at the man who moved two steps backward right away.
"Do I look like a thief to you?" She asked the man who was long lost in her beauty. Eva afraid that her her eyes would glow red in this place small town looked away immediately to avoid direct eye contact with the crowd.
Luckily for Eva, the high and mighty well-known and respected Prince Jayson Voltron was affected by the endless screams of, "Just kill her already what are you still waiting for?"
The sounds of angry women grew even louder as they claimed that she was such a disappointment to all ladies.
"Take me there," Jayson ordered his chauffeur who immediately took off towards that direction without questioning his boss.
"And what the heck is happening here?" His voice disrupted the noisy crowd and they all bowed their heads low to honor the uninvited guest at the crime scene.
With his werewolf ability, Jayson could already detect the scent from Eva's body, a rouge, and they just accused her of stealing, it might be true.
He scoffed and turned to his chauffeur. "I can't believe I just wasted my precious time for nothing, come on let's go." He ordered turning to leave but Eva grabbed his leg so tightly that he couldn't make any move.
"Mr, please don't leave me with these heartless people, I swear I didn't steal anything." She said and Jayson realized that he didn't even give her the chance to explain herself. What if she was innocent as she claimed?
"Okay, tell me what happened." He said asking one of his men watching from a short distance to get her off his luxurious suit. A single gesture from the prince and the man was down grabbing Eva's hands from Jayson's leg.
"I didn't have any money on me and I desperately wanted to avoid someone but he accused me of stealing." She paused pointing at the taxi driver. "Take a good look at me Mr stranger, do I have anything with me? Anything apart from my good-for-nothing clothes?" She asked not hiding her disdain for the heartless crowd.
Jayson was stunned for a moment before looking at the taxi driver. "Is she telling the truth?" He asked his face darkening as he gave him a threatening glare.
The taxi driver being a novel die-hard fan had read such a scene and he knew that this lucky lady had charmed a billionaire to herself so instead of destroying her, he could well use her to earn huge returns.
"Yes, sir she is telling the truth." He answered as a matter of fact as the foolish onlookers dropped their weapons one by one the air filled with the noise of salvation. An innocent life had just been saved.
"So you had the nerves to stand there and watch as an innocent woman, someone's daughter, and probably fiancee loses her life when all she did was try to save herself?" Jayson's voice grew even darker as for the first time in his life, he took matters into his own hands.
He held the driver's neck in between his hands and squeezed tightly. "How could you have the heart to watch such a scene? Tell me, how many have died innocently due to your cruel schemes?" His hands grew even tighter.
The driver's face grew paler but no one dared interrupt the prince. "I just want to know one thing, would you have the courage to watch until there was no life out of her?" He asked pressing harder and harder.
Eva's eyes were filled with tears as she watched someone stand up for her. Apart from Alex who had tried countless times to save her, this was the first man to go to such an extent just to repay evil to evil for her sake.
Afraid that the stranger's hands would get dirty of blood, she moved forward and held his hands.
"Let him go, sir, he does not qualify to get your hands dirty of blood." She said her eyes pleading with him and it came as a shock to his subordinates, those who knew him in and out.
Jayson's hands slightly loosened and eventually let go of the taxi driver who fell on the ground struggling to control his breath.
"Transfer the money he owes this lady and follow me to the vehicle." He said to his assistant and turned to leave. Just as he was about to leave, Eva's eyes landed on Alex, it turns out that he was also at the scene and Jayson's body like a shield prevented him from seeing her.
"Please don't move," She said pulling herself closer to his body.
