Chapter Fifty

I positioned myself to sit up comfortably on the bed.

"I am guessing you were a little confused when I acknowledged that I knew Brandon and I killed his father. The reason you do not remember is that your ass lost control once again. You actually lost control in New York and I tracked you down to Boston. This was the longest I have ever seen you not revert back to your normal self. I found you through the bodies you were leaving behind. At first, they were a trail of women between the ages 25 to 28, but when you got to Boston, your taste buds leaned towards children. I knew hunters lived there and sought out Beth. I made a deal with her to handle the situation with no interference from the hunters. Brandon`s father, Randolph did not accept that and took matters into his own hands, on hunting you down. When he found you, you were feeding on one of the missing children. He fought and wounded you but before he could finish the job, I threw you out of the way and ended his life. I saw the little brat as his father fell to the ground. I guess it was too much for him to see and passed out. Now what his ass did not see, was you getting up and charging towards him to feed with your crazy ass. I protected him and snapped your fucking neck. I returned his bitch ass to his mother and took your dead ass out that state. If I knew the brat was going to grow up and be such a problem then I should have let you eat him, but you see, you talk so much shit about me. Always making me to be the bad guy and I saved your little boyfriend`s life and do you want to know why Anastasia?"

"Why?" I sat there lost in my sorrow and thoughts.

"Because I don't kill children. So the next time you throw shit my way, make sure you have the whole correct story."

Dragan left the room, leaving me there. Once I gathered myself together, I went to go find Dragan and ran into Susanne.

"Hello Ms. Adams."

"Hey Susanne, have you seen Dragan?"

"Mr. Walters is in his study."

Before I walked away, she grabbed my attention, "he worries about you everyday miss."

"Do you really think so or are you just saying that because he compelled you to react this way?"

"I am not compelled."

"Wait, what?" I stared at her baffled.

"I am not compelled. I drink vervain everyday since out that vampires exist when I served as a mercenary in Quebec. Mr. Walters hired me due to my background as well as me knowing of your existence. I mean his methods are outrageous, but he do worry about you and especially now."

"Why did you accept the job knowing what we are?"

"Vampires pay more, but I do apologize if I stepped out of line."

"No, you are fine."

I find Dragan standing by the bookshelf reading Alexander the Great. Once he noticed my presence, he looked over to me while closing the book and placing it back onto the shelf.

"How can I help you?"

"I didn't mean to disturb you; I just want to…"

"If you are going to apologize, don't. I understand why you said what you said, but stop being so unapologetic. We are vampires not humans. Emotions are so fucking useless."

Before I could let the next words escape my lips, Dragan phone rung. I saw Brandon`s name flash across the screen before he grabbed it off the desk and answered it on speaker.

"What is it?"

"Get out of the house. Get Ana and get out now," Brandon yelled through the phone.

Dragan hung up the phone and grabbed my hand, yanking me to the front door. Before we made it to the front entrance, we heard a beeping sound on the other side. Everything came fast. Dragan shielded me from the huge explosion. We flew across to the other side of the room. I opened my eyes to dust, smoke, and fire. The ringing noise in my ears were unbearable. Dragan was unconscious on top of me. There were pellets imbedded in his back from the explosion. I can smell the vervain radiating off them.

"Dragan wake up."
