Nelly pulled herself up, blinking hard to get her vision back. The flashing light, thunderous sound and the impact had her delirious. With her one free hand she felt over herself, but couldn't find any new wounds. Other than her aching body and dizzy head she was whole.
Her eyes refused to focus on anything and everything around her was a slurry of colors. Every breath was difficult, an ordeal she had to focus on to get air in to her lungs. The force of the blast had knocked all the air out of her.
Soon blocks of color became objects and the alarm blaring rang in her ears. Tens of her personal guard were rushing in with their weapons drawn and she threw them a thumbs up. Nelly turned to view the part where Edmund had stood and there was only a gaping hole in the wall and floor. The force field that protected the other areas of the tower was pumped up in its emergency mode, covering the hole made, keeping the pressure inside survivable.
