Melva and Vance were both invited to dinner at Parlow's house to thank them for bringing home their long-lost daughter. Melva had never known that Twila had been kidnapped in Ichorhold. She had thought that Twila had come to Nightwind on her own free will or she had been sent there for the blood moon's contract. If she had known that she had been kidnapped, she would have brought her here to meet her parents much sooner. She felt bad for making her parents wait and worry about their daughter for far too long.

They were all told to wait in the parlour while Mrs. Parlow prepared their dinner. Melva and Vance mentioned that they were going to head somewhere else after this so they did not need to bother with their portions of food. They did not want to interrupt their family's reunion and quality time. However, Mrs. Parlow insisted that they stayed for dinner or they would not be allowed to step out of the house.
