Remi’s POV
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Ava calls out from the bathroom while she fixes her hair for work. “Maybe you should call in sick for the day.”
I pop my head out of my bedroom with my work bag over my shoulder, watching Ava through the mirror in the bathroom. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. It’ll only make things worse and that’s the last thing I want. I’m already in enough hot water as it is.”
“I just don’t want you to have to face Lucy after what happened last night,” Ava says and turns around to face me, leaning her back against the sink. “I saw the photos, Remi, as has the whole world, I’m sure.”
“I know, I know,” I mutter, hanging my head in shame. “Today is going to be rough, but I need to face the music. I gave my word to Lucy that I would end things with Gray, and not even a week later I have already been exposed as a liar. I won’t be surprised if she fires me on the spot.”
