The Cunning Plan (1)

"You are my most trusted son because I believe that, unlike your brothers, you use your brain but leaving your only son to grow fragile and unprotected in this turbulent time was simply insane! Is this your child-wife's idea?" 

Karl lowered his head for his father was right. He tried to talk against it with his wife but she was hellbent on her decision to let Calixto grow into a young adult before he took the magical powder from the Witches of the North. 

He was ready to fight tooth and nail with his wife because Calixto was his only son. His children from his other two wives were all useless daughters. He had no plan to include them in the list. However, his first wife told him that her decision to let their son grow into a young man was a suggestion from one of the witches that happened to own her a great deal when they were still young practitioners of magic. 

"You're letting your child-wife make this very important decision?"
