Chapter-20<Journey-1>

Fabian checked the burned body of the vampire for anything. He found two sabers that that vampire was using. On further inspection Fabian a belt with two sheaths. The vampire used these sheaths to store his weapons. Fabian took that belt with him.

Fabian found a gold ring that the vampire of wearing. He then took that ring and kept it with him with the intent to sell it later. He saw that the vampire was wearing shoes that were nicer than his pair. So he took those two. And after rummaging through the corpse of that vampire Fabian got out of the cave.

As Fabian walked out he found himself in scenery that he didn't recognize. He saw that he was in a forest but there was no snow around him. This leads him to believe that he must be far from the Boonie village. The trees of this forest were very green. The soil of these lands was damp and muddy. And looked like that it rain often here.

With no idea where to go next, Fabian just started walking. He was feeling hungry that meant he should probably drink blood from somewhere. He knew that there was no way in hell he would be able to get human blood out here. So he understood that he needed to hunt an animal and drink his blood.

The ghost told him that he could drink the blood of a magical beast. But Fabian didn't know where he could find those beasts. So for now he decided that he would find an animal and drink its blood. The old man had already warned him that he could not eat normal human food from today onwards so blood is the only option he was left with.

While walking around aimlessly, Fabian started hearing something. With his supernatural hearing, Fabian instantly understood what he was hearing. So he started running towards the sound. And as he came closer to the sound he started smiling.

He heard the sound of the river flowing. And that was a very good thing. Fabian knew that most of human or animal settlements are always located near the source of the water. After all, water was the most essential thing for survival. After Fabian saw the river he knew that he just need to follow this river and it for sure lead him to some sort of human settlement.

Since he found the river, Fabian started looking around for animal footprints. He the soil was very muddy he was able to find various tracks of various animals. But none of them were easy to hunt. As Fabian belonged to a hunter village he knew everything there was about to know for hunting. He was a cripple and never went on a hunt. But he still knew the basics.

While looking around the river Fabian found something interesting. He found a hole in the ground. That hole looked like a home of rodents and its family. He scouted the area around the hole and found 4 more holes like it. And according to his calculation, these holes are connected. If his calculations were correct then it made hunting easy.

Fabian brought a few big stones from the river and blocked three of the entrances with them. He made sure that the rocks were heavy enough that no one would be able to lift them. While lifting the rocks Fabian was amazed by his strength.

After blocking all the three entrances, Fabian brought a few dry branches near the fourth hole and set fire to them, and tossed the burning branches in the hole. Setting fire to the branches was not an easy task. Fabian had to use the most primitive way of starting the fire, which is rubbing two dry sticks to create fire. The smoke produced by the branches started entering the hole. The smoke caused the animal to suffocate. Due to suffocation, they started heading towards the exit. Three exits were blocked by something so the animal couldn't go that way. Forth entrance was blocked by the fire. Then the animal rushed towards the fifth entrance. And a malnourished man was waiting for them to come out.

In the end, it turned out that, the hole belonged to rabbits. They were all brown color rabbits. All of them had a horn coming out of their head. Fabian recognized those creatures immediately. They are called horned rabbits. From what Fabian remembers the hunters hunted them to extinction near their village. They all have tender meat. Their fur could be used to make expensive mittens for rich ladies. While their horn could be used to make a bone knife.

Fabian remembers that hunters used to tell stories about how it was very difficult to catch them. They were very fast on their feet and if come closer to them, they would jump towards you and pierce you with their horn. So one had to be extra careful while hunting them. But if someone finds their borrow then it would a piece of cake to hunt them…

Fabian stood at the end of the 5th hole with his sabers out. Although he had never used a saber before he had a feeling that it would not be difficult as it seems…

And after waiting for a while finally, a rabbit hopped out of its borrow in a hurry. And as soon as he did, Fabian's saber was there to receive him. Fabian just swung the saber and as he did, he realized that the saber was able to cut off the rabbit's head pretty easily.

Fabian was happy to see that he had hunted for the first time in his life. But then he didn't have a lot of time to think. Like like the first all the rabbits that were living in there started hopping out of their borrow one by one. And Fabian was there to receive them all…
