POV of Friedrich von Roon

"HUMAN..... SACRIFICES?" I said in surprise.

''Ha, ha, ha…what have you been eating to say...''' I was about to ridicule the Finn, but when I noticed that the blacksmith opened his eyes as wide as he could, I knew it wasn't nonsense

''No...no…no…you must be joking.... are you telling me that steel must be made from human deaths?'','' I said a little disgusted by the news.

I was so shocked that I let the blacksmith fall from my grip causing him to hit the ground.

''According to ancient texts I found.... you know where....to create Valyrian steel you need, the materials to make the steel a bit of dragon glass and human sacrifices for a kind of magic ritual, in order to give magical capabilities to the steel making it, sharp, tough.... even in some case armor full of runes could..... protect its wearer.....from the same magic'' said the Finn in German

''Are you telling me that steel was made with the massive sacrifice of human lives?'', I said as I felt an incredible itch in my leg.

I remembered that I had neared my waist the cloth where I was carrying the Valyrian steel that we found in earlier

And I quickly took it off and threw it to the floor.

The Finn looked at the metal curiously and stared at me

''Wow.... you have resources to find this steel....ROOOON, oh, please don't tell me you are afraid of a metal''said the Finn with his calm tone, but at the same time every word cut like steel my pride

''Lives, humans..... died to do that, it's disgusting''I said a little hyperventilating.

''To me, it's more disgusting that it was done with MAGIC, magic is not supposed to exist, but for some reason here it does, it's not a tool to scare fools, by making a coin disappear and make it appear in your other hand....it's real''said the Finn furious and trying to bite his finger through his mask

''Now tell me old man, how many people have you killed to make your steel'' said the Finn with disgust and stepping on the blacksmith's hand.

The blacksmith removed his hand from under the Finn's shoe and stared at him in defiance of the white demon's gaze.

''No...you're talking nonsense'' replied the blacksmith.

I grabbed the blacksmith by his clothes again, although not very firmly because many of them had been torn by the dagger cuts.

''All right scum, tell me your name, I want to know it before I make you suffer the same fate as your victims'' I said angrily.

''My lord I.....''' the blacksmith tried to say.

''YOUR NAME, YOU TRASH, DON'T GIVE ME AN EXCUSE'' I shouted so loud that it was probably heard over the relentless sound of hammering in the surrounding area.

''Tobho mott'' said the blacksmith in fear.

''What a strange name for a westerosi'' I said looking at the Finnish man

''Because it's not westerosi Roon..... it's from essos'' said the Finn almost laughing at me

''Much difference?'', I asked the Finn.

''Quite a lot, but you see everything that is not Prussian as savage, you will find little difference between them and animals'' said the Finn crossing his arms

''Save your comments for when I ask you'' I said, annoyed and looking at the blacksmith again.

''I have a book I found.....somewhere, that says the trick to your free city to re-forge Valyrian steel is with human sacrifices, so don't try to lie to me....so make it easy to collaborate and MAYBE you will live''said the Finn bringing his face closer to the blacksmith as he walks slowly turning around the blacksmith

''They are lies, just lies, to affect the prestige of Qohor'' replied the blacksmith slowly shaking his head in the direction of the Finn's position.

''So, what is your trick, how do you forge the Valyrian steel again, LITTLE blacksmith, how can you do something where thousands failed, show me your magic'' said the Finn.

Tobho Mott looked in all directions, searching for someone who could help him escape from the deadly situation in which he found himself, but there were only hostile faces around him who were looking for the technique of their profession.

Without hope, the blacksmith preferred to collaborate before suffering a terrible fate at the hands of his captors.

''Yes it is with sacrifices.... but not humans.... we use animals to recreate one of the spells that the Valyrians were accustomed to using when they created their steel, my technique is not perfect, I would be lying if I told you that I can create Valyrian steel, but a better one than normal steel yes, the technique of the Valyrians disappeared with them when the doom came'' said the blacksmith.

''Show us, if it's not human sacrifices show us how you do it'' I said to the blacksmith pointing to his forge.

''That won't work..... it must be the one below, the one that is hidden'' said the blacksmith looking at the floor.

We took the blacksmith by the shoulder and went to his basement, after he opened several locks we went down the stairs and found an altar....probably an evil one

'This gives me a bad omen, but if it is the only way to get the melted piece of metal to make used again it must be done'

The forge that the Prussians and Finns observed was one in honor of the black goat of Qohor, a forge adorned with strange runes.

The blacksmith took out of a cage two oxen he had kept in his cellar totally immobilized

The blacksmith took a dagger slowly showing it to his captors to tell them that he did not represent any danger and slit the neck of one of the oxen

Placing the neck of the animal in a container that received the blood of the animal

and magically, the forge/altar began to come to life.

''Almighty god, protect your children from all evil....''

''God give me the strength to defeat the demons ....''

''God preserve our souls...'''

Several Prussian soldiers began to say, crucifix in hand, praying to their god in search of an answer to what they were observing.

with each passing second the fire came to life and the heat in the room increased.

the blacksmith turned around and looked at me.

''The steel, give it to me'' said the blacksmith.

I handed it to him with trembling hands, and the blacksmith began to deliver it to the forge.

I looked at the Finn who was standing with his arms folded and watched carefully every move of the blacksmith.

The blacksmith began to say words that were familiar to me, but did not make sense to me.

''Roman Latin'' muttered the Finn.

The Prussians and the Finn were astonished at what they were observing.

The heat continued to increase, and the blacksmith kept working and saying words and incantations that increased the heat of the forge.

After several minutes, the heat that seemed to be about to cook all those present alive

The blacksmith began to pour the metal into the mold of a sword.

The blacksmith using the blood of the dead ox was throwing drops to the sword saying slowly more spells and incantations and the sword began to shine like the sun.

Almost blinding everyone who was watching it

But the Finn continued to watch the whole process attentively.

The blacksmith took the glowing sword with his tongs and while it was still glowing like the sun and was so red-hot the blacksmith turned to the second ox

"Nissa Nissa," said the blacksmith and buried the sword in the chest of the ox.

The scream of pain of the animal concentrated all the eyes of the spectators because when the sword was introduced to the animal the blinding glow disappeared

I was running my hands over my eyes trying to see what had happened

But I only saw how the blacksmith pulled out the sword inside the ox and showed a perfect blade of Valyrian steel.

I looked at the Finn who was in the same position in which he had placed himself when the ritual began, but his eyes were red, it seemed that he had observed everything.

The blacksmith finished the work and placed the sword in a handle handing us a finished sword.

''It is ready, my lords, this is how Valyrian steel is forged again'' said the blacksmith handing us the newly forged sword.

''How much we owe you for the sword?'' said the Finn.

''Now you're going to pay me after threatening to kill me?'' said the blacksmith in annoyance.

''yes, I need you to train several blacksmiths with your technique, we have some more Valyrian steel and I need you to turn it into something that can serve my king'' said the Finn.

''Can I refuse?'', asked the tired blacksmith.

''No, so determine your payment because now you work for the king in Prussia, you will travel to the reach and teach the Prussians, essos is full of Valyrian steel we just need to find it'' said the Finn.

''Roon, make sure he gets paid what he asks for, we need him'' said the Finn closing his eyes and putting his hands over his eyes.

''Take him to the castle, he is our guest now'' I said to my men who were a bit dazed between the heat and the blinding light.

My men took the blacksmith away and left me alone with the Finns.

The Finn took off his mask and began to bite his finger so hard that it began to bleed.

''Do you dislike magic so much?'', I asked, looking at the Finn who was acting very strange.

''I dislike it because I don't understand it, there is no science, there are no mathematical or physical concepts, there is only magic in between ..... and I don't understand it, Roman Latin, spells, incantations, protective runes, all that we saw before our eyes and I can't explain it'' said the Finn annoyed while he kept biting his thumb.

'It was strange to see him act like that, he happens to be the man with the coolest mind when it comes to unknown things'.

''Do you plan to get more of the metal?'', I asked as I looked at the Valyrian steel sword.

''Yes I have heard that in essos the Valyrian steel is more common than here, according to the Maesters there are two hundred and twenty-three Valyrian steel swords and other objects, but in essos the swords are counted by the thousands and there are hundreds of thousands of objects of inheritance of what survived from the Valyrian heritage, enough to perhaps arm a hundred of elite warriors with that metal'' said the Finn a little calmer.

''Just imagine Charles covered with that steel and with a sword like the one you have, he would be unstoppable, a giant covered with magic steel, the problem will be how to get it, steel is not cheap, two kilograms could easily be worth more than two hundred thousand gold dragons, according to the information I got from the merchants of essos, we would bankrupt the king just buying a hundred kilos'' the Finn continued talking and started to walk in circles while making plans.

'The king always has his ear available for this madman, if I manage to give him some ideas it will be excellent for my career'.

''We could send some men to essos to look for the steel and your men could steal it'' I said trying to give the Finn some ideas.

''Those lands are plagued with wars and horse lords, only a madman would be willing to ... go.....'' said the Finnish man

''Lothar'' we both said at the same time.

''Lothar and his men could be our bloodhounds in essos and send us all the Valyrian steel they manage to capture, if they are plagued lands in war.... mercenaries, we can send lothar as a mercenary and let him fight for some free city while he gathers information about Valyrian steel objects''i said smiling

''Yes ... yes ... It could work, I'll mention the idea to the king, since having lothar in prison for so long must be worrying some nobles''said the Finn putting his mask back on, going back to being the mysterious person he usually represents

''You're not as much of an idiot as I thought''said the Finn with a provocative tone.

'He turned back into the usual son of a bitch'.
