Blood And Iron (ASOIAF/GoT)

Reincarnation is not bad, says someone who has gone through the process several times, there are only certain occasions that you die at the moment you are born or have a long and boring life as a servant of some noble, the most normal is to reincarnate as the 99%, but when I finally had the opportunity to reincarnate as the center of political power, a European king, fate played a cruel joke on me, sending me to Westeros, the land of treachery and intrigue, luckily I was not transported alone, but sometimes I think it would have been better if I had come alone. Disclaimer: I do not own Game of Thrones or Asoiaf. Disclaimer II:Some stories will feature topics such as torture, rape, sexism and xenophobia. These topics do not represent me, I only seek to give the most historical perspective possible to the social relations of a medieval era. Disclaimer III:I don't speak English, I am in the process of learning, so I will make several grammatical mistakes, any help on the lexicon is accepted, I am not a person so deeply versed in the lore of GoT

''Roon may be a bit blinded by Prussian superiority over the Westerosis, but damn it, everything he touches works perfectly with an efficiency that would seem impossible.''

-Aleksanteri talking to Antti after reading the productivity report on Highgarden's plantations

-----------------------------------

POV of Friedrich von Roon

''Good, proceed with the plans, I need you to start building those facilities as soon as possible, we already have several houses, we can reduce their construction a bit so we can concentrate on other aspects, I think we could work on building the hospital, so we have a place for the next idiot who hit his finger with the hammer'' I said leaving my pen in the inkwell and turning around.

''Well, take me to those westerosis I guess they must have several questions, did they give much trouble?'', I asked the guard while placing my sword in my belt

''A little, some of them didn't want to leave, we had to use force to threaten them, I had to teach one of them a hard lesson, besides they didn't cooperate much, all the time shuffling and complaining all the way here'' said the soldier coming out of the tent

''Did they bring many objects with them?'', I asked again

''Well, we brought almost both supply wagons full, plus many animals, their people raised ducks, so they brought many with them'' the soldier answered as he led me to where the westerosi were

''Ducks, ha, well, I suppose we could dedicate some livestock facility for... ducks if there are enough of them, their meat could give variety to our diet... but the feathers could be used for pillows, so we'll force them to sell us their animals and look for a way to build a duck pen'' I said while following the guard

''Understood, if you are going to talk to them, the one with the black eye is the one who only complains, avoid wasting your time with him ,Herr Roon'' said the soldier pointing to the group of westerosis who were unloading their belongings

''Thanks for the warning'' I said, smiling as I saw the man with the black eye and many bruises.

Finally, I arrived where the group of men, women and children were unloading their belongings, but they stopped to stare at me.

''That's the new lord?'' said one man whispering to another.

'They don't know the face of their rightful king, well, there are no paintings of his majesty available to be publicly displayed to these westerosis.'

''I am Friedrich von Roon General-Feldmarschall of the Prussian army, in the service of your majesty Wilhelm von Hohenzollern''I said in a loud tone to get everyone's attention.

''From now on this will be your new home, does anyone here know how to do anything else than work the land or animals?'', I asked the group of peasants.

Seeing that no one said anything I assumed that was the only thing they knew how to do.

I looked at the wicker cages that filled one of the logistic wagons that we sent to the farmers and they had inside them many of the ducks that I had been informed about.

''Market price of the ducks?'', I said looking at one of the guards accompanying the caravan.

''One or two silvers, depending on the sex of the animal'', answered the guard.

''The state of Prussia will make forced purchase of all these animals that you have in possession, we offer two silver stags for each of your ducks that will become the first to start some breeding operation of these animals to obtain their meat and eggs'' I said turning to the group of westerosi that were staring at me

''M'lord, we can't sell you the ducks are our livelihood...''' one man tried to say.

''You don't seem to understand how things work, everything I say are ORDERS, I command, you obey, I am not asked or consulted, I am ordering you, as it was not a question, it was a notice, from now on, these ducks are property of the king and the state of Prussia and you will receive your payment for it'' I said with a serious tone

''But... but... but... but''' the man tried to say, but each time he said it slower and slower as he shrank back as he saw me approaching him.

''I don't like buts either, so remember well, for if you don't obey or be cooperative... just look at the idiot over there'' I said pointing at the man with the bruises.

''M'lord... then what will become of us?...we have no homes, we only got here because your men were.... very convincing to make us leave our homes... but now we have nothing''said the man in despair.

''Yes, you were part of a new form of production, from now on, you will not have the right to work the land, and therefore you will not have to deliver part of your crops as payment for the lord's protection...that is, from now on, you are free men who no longer answer to serfdom...only to the new civil code, that you are subject to conscription and taxes'' I said as I stood in the center of the group of westerosis followed by my bodyguards

there was an awkward silence as all the westerosis looked at each other with faces of fear and others of not knowing what was going to happen.

I waited a little longer for them to ask me the obvious question.

''how will we make a living...we can't plant and you recently took our animals from us, what will we live from?'', said a woman who came forward to the group

''take away, I BOUGHT YOU THE ANIMALS, there is a big difference between buying and taking away, you uneducated woman'' I said annoyed at the woman.

''You will be able to work in your majesty's plantations, personal property of your king, where we will provide all the tools, animals and seeds, and you only have to contribute with your work, but you must follow the orders of your overseers to the letter'' I said while I pointed to the huge extensions of fields that already had several kilometers of irrigation canals.

''Where we will pay a salary every moon, for your works and considered the magnanimity of our king will grant to each one of the workers a part of the benefits of the harvest, if they work hard, of course... if they only dedicate themselves to do the minimum they will receive the minimum'' I said while I gave the time for the westerosis to understand their situation and ask their questions.

''How much will... this salary be? m'lord'' said the man with the black eye

''Twenty silver stags each moon, on the first day of each moon you will receive your payment and the benefits of productivity will be delivered each time there is the sale of the harvest... according to our estimates, you should earn a little more than twice as much as the rest of your serf brothers... so you should feel very privileged to be the first free men'' I said smiling to the group of the locals

''Well, if there are no further questions, I won't take up any more of your time'' I said as I turned to walk to my quarters and continue working.

''M'lord... we just have a question, where can we erect new houses, I see the land around here is occupied, where we won't be.... a nuisance''said the man with the black eye.

'It looks like the blow they struck you, gave you intelligence'

''I guess you were warned from now on... these works of art of the best architecture to be found in the seven kingdoms are yours... hopefully living under a roof that would not collapse in the rainy season might help you forget your barbaric practices and start behaving like civilized people''I said while holding my position.

There were many satisfied and happy faces.

''But... these houses come with a cost, every moon we will expect you to pay 10 silver stags for them... we will see to it that they receive the maintenance that is necessary... if the wood rots call us and we will repair it... if the walls crack we will repair them, though I doubt it will happen before thirty years... but whatever flaws that construction has it will be our responsibility to repair it in exchange for that payment''

''Considering that most of the households will have at least two people able to work, you should have no problem in making the payment, even more with the option that you can send your children to learn jobs with our priests/knights and they will receive a lower payment'', I said smiling.

I remained observing and when I noticed that there were no more questions I began to assign the houses that were built to easily house families of up to eight members with a personal room for each one, taking into consideration that the families are usually quite large when they are dedicated to agriculture.

The westerosis began to bring down their belongings and I should have pointed out where most of the artisans were located, since when the farmers received their payment in silver coins they began to buy a lot of furniture and food to prepare their new homes.

Apparently it didn't bother them so much, now that they had several silver coins to spend on beds, chairs, tables and other furniture that were necessary to live day by day in this city under construction.

I returned to my place of work because my duty does not end, I must make sure that everything is ready for tomorrow and the first day of real work for these farmers.

The next few days were tough as we were fighting against the time

The westerosis began to work the land, with our steel tools and technical knowledge that was provided by one of the engineers who specialized in agriculture and natural fertilizers and how it was necessary to enrich the land with the necessary nutrients, the work progressed quickly for the farmers.

But for us, the real race began, every day waves of immigration arrived from all over and began rapidly to inhabit the city, every day that passed, more people arrived and the hundreds of houses that we had built began to run out before the thousands of westerosis that arrived.

Dozens of houses were being finished every day, but at the same time these were being handed over to the new inhabitants, and all our efforts were concentrated on giving everyone a place to live.

New businesses began to flourish around the city because many Prussians decided to settle in the area, since many specialized services were needed and they were the ones who could supply the demand for these products and fill their pockets in the process.

Bakeries, shoe shops, tailors, butchers, dyers, carpenters, were the new businesses that began to proliferate and with each passing day, they seemed to get richer as more people came to the city and required their services.

Work in the fields began in earnest when thousands of people went out every day to work in the fields, planting what the king had ordered, sugar beets.

Wherever one looked, one could see kilometers and kilometers of cultivated land where only that crop was planted with their respective irrigation channels and every day that passed the farmland continued to grow because more hands did not stop arriving to work.

And with the strange climate in the seven kingdoms, one can plant all year round because winter comes every few years, but during that time we can work the land without thinking about autumn or winter because this area, even in winter, continues as if it were spring, making it a place where food has never stopped being produced.

With the facilities prepared we only had to wait for the harvest, to start producing the sugar and we will have to start selling it to the merchants, which should be a problem, since the color of our sugar is different from the one normally sold, but it will be a problem that we will have to solve in the future.

And with the ducks, that for some reason the westerosis had too many, we made some hatcheries where we are looking to breed these animals, mainly for their feathers for pillows, they will sell well among the wealthy who do not want pillows stuffed with straw.

My problem now is that there are enough houses for everyone and none of these idiots must sleep in the open

By the fact that almost twelve thousand souls live in the city, it seems that next week we will exceed twenty thousand if everything continues at the same rate.
