Ruven, flying far enough to his left that he was only a speck, was more night-blind, being only an avian and not a vampire, while Larch to his right—invisible, for she was a were-raven, black on black in the darkness—could see even less, as ravens weren’t nocturnal. Still, she could see well enough to get by, and it was she who would dive down at need to one of the lantern-bearing parties below, slowly searching the houses by means mostly magical, for the place where Maltheus was holding Harun.
The search had only just begun and Kelwyn was already impatient. Harun was down there somewhere, with Maltheus doing who knew what to him. Kelwyn wanted to find him now, but of course there was no way to rush things. Somebody else would probably find him first, in fact, and everything might well be dealt with before Kelwyn could even fly over and land.
