Chapter 28

Mao Qiang rode inside the floating carriage that was pulled by a long bright blue creature that he swore was a dragon.

"Hey father isn't that a dragon," asked Mao Qiang.

His father looked at him like he was a fool before sighing heavily.

"Yes, that is a dragon if you could even call it a dragon, you see Mao Qiang that is a flood dragon but its bloodline is weak, so weak it's barely even a dragon and it's nowhere close to being a true dragon, this pathetic beast can't even assume a human form," said a judgmental Mao Ling while looking at the dragon like it was garbage.

The dragon showed no reaction to Mao Ling's words I looked into its pitiful eyes and saw how cold and lifeless they were.

Whatever was done to this dragon had completely broken its will to live.

Still though having a dragon all be it a pathetic one pulling your carriage just how prestigious was my father?

From what I know only high-ranking figures had dragons pulling their carriages.

It wasn't just a display of their authority it was a major show of power.

It was well known that dragons even dragons with weak bloodlines were incredibly arrogant so to tame a dragon was considered a mighty display of a cultivator's power.

Which was all well and good but right now I only care about getting to the conference and even though we were traveling at the speed of a bullet train it was still too slow.

"This is taking forever," mumbled Mao Qiang under his breath.

Mao Ling pretended not to hear his complaints and stared out the carriage window.

Mao Qiang did the same thing it was like this for a while until I suddenly felt a tingling sensation in the back of my head.

It was something I had felt before it was my instincts telling me of impending danger.

Mao Ling noticed my strange behavior which concerned him so he decided to summon a violent storm that surrounded the carriage in a protective barrier just to be safe.

Moments later a piercing light cut through the dark storm clouds followed by the sounds of ear-splitting vibrations.

It was like a piece of cold steel was singing through the clouds and that song cut everything apart with its sharp light.

Mao Qiang was astonished by this light but Mao Ling wasn't so amused.

He recognized this light as sword Qi, not just any normal sword Qi it was the sword Qi of an Ascension realm expert.

The sword Qi turned in threads that cut attempted to cut apart the carriage but they were repelled by the strong winds.

Instead of harming us the threads struck the dragon and sliced through its steel-like scales killing it instantly as if the mighty flood dragon was nothing more than a lowly worm.

It was marvelous I'd never seen such pristine finely honed Qi before it was so destructive yet so elegant I wanted this power.

While I was admiring this Qi my father only became enraged and pulled out a spear with streams of lightning dancing along the razor-sharp spear tip and soared into the air toward the aggressor.

I stood there quietly observing the threads of sword Qi and immediately began analyzing it trying to see if I could touch upon the laws of the great sword Dao and use its power.

My father flew through the air before coming to a halt he turned and with a voice barely able to contain its quickly growing rage called out a person's name his voice echoing through the storm.

"Shi Long come on out you cowardly bastard and meet my blade!!!" shouted the infuriated Mao Ling.

Seems like he knew who this was but who could it be?

His name it began with Shi which seemed to be the same as that other woman Shi Xi was it?

I remembered I killed her son and that she was dad's first wife also I remember she came from a clan of sword cultivators.

This was most likely someone from the same clan seeking revenge against me and my father for their family's disgraced member Shi Xi and her dead son Mao Jiang.

Just like I expected a man resembling Shi Xi dressed in black and gold Daoist robes appeared brandishing a silver long sword bathed in a brilliant sword light.

He grinned wickedly before speaking in a shockingly cold voice.

"Mao Ling for insulting the only sword cultivator clan remaining in the sacred sun sects territory I Shi Long will kill you where to stand,"
