37 The War.

Sengoku stood on top of the executioner's platform near Ace. He watched towards the sea as he saw dozens of pirate ships approach.

He could identify the flags they showed, Captains that had sworn allegiance to Whitebeard. All of whom had become well known in the new world.

He took a deep breath. "This will be a hard fought battle" He thought to himself.

He looked over to Garp who sat next to his adopted grandson.

Sengoku wanted to broadcast the war to the world, to show that they can even go to war and win against the "strongest" man.

Before the ships could get close, he decided to make "that" announcement. The major reason for this war to take place.

He started to talk into his speaker.

"Your father is none other than.....the Pirate King, Gold Roger!" He declared to the world.

Garp didn't say anything. He knew the boy's history. Roger himself asked Garp to look after his son. He could never admit it, but Garp considered Roger almost like a friend.

The Fleet of pirates finally came into view of the Marine army present, and the world saw for themselves the degree of bloodshed that would take place.

They stopped before the marine's own flee of ship that guarded the port to Marineford.

Everyone was tense, they didn't know what to do and were waiting for Sengoku's orders. It was only moments later that HE finally appeared.

HE came from underwater and bypassed the marine fleet altogether. He surfaced right into Marineford Harbor.

Whitebeard on his ship, the Moby Dick. With Three other ships with him.

"MY beloved son….had better be safe and sound" Whitebeard said with a laugh to the world.

The admirals and Sengoku all saw it coming after whitebeard spoke.

Two giant tsunami's closing in on either end of Marineford. They dwarfed the marine base in comparison.

White beard, he has the power of the Gura Gura no Mi. He can create quakes, it's a power feared as being able to destroy the world.

It was Aokiji who stepped up to stop the destruction these waves would wrought.

"ICE AGE" he roared as his hands shot ice out at both the waves that closed in.

The waves were frozen solid as they hung far above the marine base. It didn't stop there, the entire bay area of Marineford was also frozen. The pirates disembarked on the ice and charged towards the marine base.

The vice admirals jumped down to meet he onslaught of pirates.

The first "Big shot" to make a move was the most surprising one. Hawk-eyes Mihawk, one of the shichibukai, the undisputed strongest swordsman.

He wanted to measure it….the distance between him and the "strongest man" in the world.

The world and the battlefield watched theman draw his large black blade and swung it towards white beard.

It was a devastating slash, it wasn't just propelling the wind pressure, it had substance to it. It tore through the ice and battlefield as it made it's way towards the man…only to be stopped prematurely.

A man half covered in diamonds intercepted the world's strongest slash. Third squad captain of the white beard pirates, "Diamond" Jose. As his name suggested, he could turn himself into diamond.

Admiral Kizaru was the next to take action. He ate a logia fruit that turned him into "light". He appeared above the Moby Dick and shot lasers from his hands towards the strongest man.

A wall of flames intercepted the lasers. It was first squad captain, Marco "The Phoenix", he had a mythical zone fruit that allowed him to take the form of a phoenix. All the "wounds" he had just received merely burned away into nothingness and restored themselves.

"You can't take the king on your first turn" Marco said jokingly to the admiral.

As the battle carried on, Jose ripped a gigantic piece of ice right from the "ground" It dwarfed even the giant division of the marines.

Akainu finally made his move. He erupted into a lava form, he shot a giant fist made of lava into the glacier that had been thrown. The fist tore through it with ease.

One of the more surprising developments, White beard had Oars Jr. under his command. This towering figure that was many times the size of the regular giants present.

Oars jr was taken down quickly by the Shichibukai.

It was after this that the idiot finally came into play. The ship he had escaped impel down along with all the prisoners were falling from the "sky" they had actually been on the tip of that giant tidal wave that had frozen over and when it was dealt with, they fell down.

Coincidences piled on top of each other, they were lucky to fall into the unfrozen part of the sea that Jose had pulled up earlier.

They were lucky that they had a powerful fishman with them to pull them from the water.

Previously, luffy had invaded impel down, the strongest prison in the world, with the help of a shichibukai he befriended, Boa Handcock. He tried to rescue ace but was captured in the process. He was saved by a friend on his father's who provided him aid and helped him escape….he lost a few friends along the way.

He was accompanied by Ivan of the revolutionary army, one his Father's Generals. Crocodile, the former Shichibukai, was adding him. Jimbei, the shichibukai who refused to battle against whitebeard was also present.

The world watched as Strawhat luffy arrived with reinforcements from impel down to help rescue ace.

He charged constantly towards the executioners platform, he was repelled again and again. He was not powerful enough for the stage he stood on.

As he caused chaos in the battlefield, Sengoku also revealed Luffy's heritage. He was the son of the most wanted man in the world, "The revolutionary" Dragon. The man who wished to overthrow the world government.

Battles and revelations were happening all over the battlefield. Kuma had been entirely turned into a machine, his consciousness no longer existed.

Jimebi took down moria, he could easily counter his zombie abilities by summoning salt water. Apparently salt was a natural counter to them because the nature of the devil fruit powers being incompatible with the sea.

Luffy continued to charge forward as all the friends he made were intercepting any obstacles. Even when Hawkeye's stood in his way, the strongest swordsman of the Whitebeard pirates stood in the way to block him.

It was this point that Sengoku shut off the video transmission. He called forth this reserve force, the pasifistas. They were robots designed after the experiments performed on Kuma. They integrated technology that copied the laser's of kizaru.

A surprise happened on the battlefield, one of White beard's captains was tricked into attacking him. He showed neither rage nor disappointment, he merely forgave his "son". He rallied his troops and took to the battlefield himself.

His power was astonishing, using his tremors….he split the marine fort into pieces.

It was at this point that a hidden wall shot up around the frozen harbor that the pirates were fighting on. They were trapped.

Akainu took this opportunity to melt the ice. He shot dozens of giant lava fists into the harbor…..the Moby Dick had been sunk along with the ice.

Whitebeard took a shot at the wall…even his power only left a dent.

Their only salvation, Oars Jr's body….blocked one of the wall pieces from rising up.

When the pirates realized this and made their way to the body of their friend….luffy decided to do something extremely foolish.

He had Jimbei shoot him with a a stream of water over the wall and infront of the three admirals.

With the distraction that luffy caused, the pirates were able to gain a foothold beyond the wall and swarmed inside.

Luffy continued to charge forward…his body beaten and bloody. He was already running on fumes before he even joined the battle.

Due to ivan's devil fruit, he injected luffy with what essentially was an adrenaline rush during the escape from impel down.

He encountered Kizaru again…the man took him down with ease. He showed no mercy and he

pummeled the pirate and with a large explosive blast..luffy was sent flying back to where he began.

Whitebeard caught the idiot before anything more could happen.

Luffy pulled himself together as ivan approached to heal him.

"Iva-chan….please do it again…so I can keep fighting" Luffy barely said. He wanted another shot of adrenaline.

"You will die luffy…." Ivan said with a sad expression.

Luffy barely pushed himself up, on his knees with his wobbling hands supporting himself.

"Why am I so weak…..i can't save anyone" He said with tears flowing down his face.

His mind flashed with the thoughts of his friends…his crew that were separated due to his weakness. Everyone he had lost and met along his journey. It was then that he felt a shock go through his body. He recalled them. The crew he met not that long ago....they became his friends and said they would help when he was in trouble.

He looked towards the tattoo on his hand.

A smile slowly crept up.

"I almost forgot…." Luffy said happily.

Ivan looked on at the boy, his despair was gone.

Luffy used the last of his strength to stand up. His voice was no longer shaking.

"I'm not strong enough yet…..but I know someone who is. " He said with a smile.

The people around him looked on with confusion.

He focused on his right hand, where the tatoo was.

It came forth.

He held it gently in his hand.

Ivan was surprised at his sudden action, a glass orb came out of his hand.

"What is that luffy-kun?" Ivan asked.

"My friends" He said with a wide smile.

He shattered the orb.

A strange feeling spread out unto the battlefield. The fighting came to a stop…all eyes turned to where the feeling originated. They all stared at the young pirate.

"WHAT DID YOU DO LUFFY?" Garp shouted in shock, he could feel a dangerous aura culminated at luffy's location.

"I asked for help" He responded to his grandpa with a smile.

They all saw it….a strange door began to materialize behind luffy.

Luffy let out a chuckle as he began to collapse in exhaustion.

A hand reached out from behind to catch him. Unknown figures walked out from the door that appeared.

"You fought well luffy….leave the rest to us." The unknown man said. Wearing black with a white cloth slung over, with a strange orange hair.

The people on the battlefield immediately recognized them. The world started to call them the "shinigami".

No one could accurately gauge their strength. They were a group of unknowns who had suddenly appeared.

"We'll rescue your brother" He declared to the world.

Ichigo's peerage had entered the war.
