63 Chapter 62: Purchasing Explosives

After having dinner at the Shiba family's place, it was already evening. Yamahiko returned to the Second Division and didn't rush to present the bombs made by Shiba Kūkaku.

Suì-Fēng coughed violently, feeling a severe irritation in her throat.

"The improved smoke bomb has increased its irritant effect, affecting the eyes and respiratory system significantly. It seems to work well," Kūkaku said with a smile.

Yamahiko nodded and remarked, "Captain Suì-Fēng knew the effects of the flash bomb, so she kept her eyes closed. However, she didn't know about the smoke bomb's effects. If it were someone else, the flash bomb alone would have been effective."

Suì-Fēng felt her throat filled with smoke. Just at that moment, several figures closed in on her, wielding short knives and targeting vital points.

Enduring her physical discomfort, Suì-Fēng heard the sound of shattering airwaves in her surroundings. She summoned a short sword with her left hand, waving it in the air to block all the attacks.

But then, a deafening, earth-shaking sound followed by a high-pitched, piercing noise reverberated.

Suì-Fēng felt a sharp pain in her ears, and her head rang loudly, unable to hear any other sounds.

It was a shockwave bomb, the fourth weapon developed by Yamahiko & Kukaku without Suì-Fēng's knowledge. In an unfamiliar situation, she had been subjected to a tremendous impact.

This sharp, high-frequency sound didn't reach the level of rupturing eardrums but could induce temporary deafness. Suì-Fēng's eyes remained shut, and the irritating gas in her respiratory system made her very uncomfortable. Her ears were ringing, and she couldn't hear anything.

During this moment, those several attackers closed in again. Suì-Fēng had no way to avoid them, but as the overall commander of the Onmitsukidō, her senses were extremely sharp. She detected the presence of the assailants through the wind they stirred up while making contact with her skin. Suì-Fēng seized their movements.

In the instant the wind began to pick up, Suì-Fēng turned into a after image and vanished.

Suì-Fēng broke free from the encirclement, intending to put some distance between her and the attackers. However, just then, a powerful explosion resounded.

Outside the encirclement formed by the Onmitsukidō's members, a violent explosion erupted, flames billowing, and it enveloped Suì-Fēng.

"What's this?" Kūkaku widened her eyes.

Yamahiko explained with a smile, "Among these ten squad members, I had three of them master Kidō techniques. They are proficient in Hadō #12, Fushibi, Hadō #31, Shakkahō, and Bakudō #26, Kyokkō. We used Fushibi to lay a circuit outside the encirclement, while Kyokkō concealed it. I instructed them that as long as they could seal off Captain Suì-Fēng's hearing, vision, and breathing, they should detonate it promptly. As expected, when Captain Suì-Fēng tried to break free, she was caught right on cue."

Kūkaku asked in disbelief, "Aren't you afraid of injuring her?"

Yamahiko smiled and replied, "Captain Suì-Fēng won't be so easily hurt."

As the smoke from the explosion dissipated, Suì-Fēng's figure was covered in lightning, and the explosion hadn't caused her any harm. All of it had been deflected by her lightning-based abilities.

"All right, let's end it," Yamahiko said. He made three arrangements, using special smoke bombs, shockwave bombs, and a Kidō team to force Suì-Fēng to use Shunkō. It was more than enough.

With a flash, Suì-Fēng appeared next to Yamahiko and asked, "What were those smoke bombs and sonic bombs? And that last explosion, why did it look like a combination of Kidō?"

Yamahiko smiled and explained, "Regular smoke bombs are too weak, so I added some modifications. The shockwave bomb is a newly developed explosive. As for the Kidō, I selected members of the Onmitsukidō's with high spiritual power and trained them. They assisted in your test. It's all part of the plan."

"Mastering one Kidō per squad, with three members in each team, and ten teams forming a larger unit. Captain Suì-Fēng, is that sufficient?" Yamahiko asked.

Suì-Fēng coughed and replied, "After your training, these teams can already engage Vice-Captain-level opponents, significantly enhancing our combat capabilities."

Looking at Suì-Fēng, Kūkaku asked, "So, have you decided to make the purchase?"
