"...You saw a vision of your resurrección? Well, experiencing your own powers is certainly normal… However, to hear your reservations about it… Interesting."
Kisuke had taken an interest in my sudden disregard for my newfound power. While I was practically jumping in excitement about my evolution to an Arrancar, utilizing my Resurrección state was a different issue in and of itself.
"It's probably not something I need to be activating here…" I said, slightly weary of the power I held at my side.
Resurrección was the reversal of my now human form, reverting back to my previous hollow-like state. But, considering I awoke here as a Vasto Lorde with no memories of my previous time as a hollow, I was unsure as to my actual abilities. Seeing them in my head and actually using them were entirely different cases.
That was why I found myself shocked at my Resurrección. It wasn't something I wanted to be using simply as a weapon, there was more to it than that.
Using a power like that would certainly have ramifications, likely affecting things far out of my control. An ability like this wasn't something someone inexperienced such as myself needed to be messing around with.
That said, I didn't necessarily need to fully transform to utilize my powers.
Unsheathing my blade, it revealed its pristine form—a standard looking katana with a beautiful appearance. While the scabbard was the same as my color as my reiatsu, lilac, the hilt of the blade was black and white, giving it an odd contrast. The blade itself was relatively normal, though there was a lilac-line running along its sharp-edge.
Traces of my resurrección ran jolted up from the blade, small sparks of lightning clinging to the closest surfaces available.
But, the biggest thing that stood out about my Zanpakutō wasn't its color or the small lightning jumping out. No, it was the guard.
"What does your released state have to do with clouds, Lance?" Orihime asked, now kneeling down beside me as she stared at my sword.
The guard, or tsuba as Kisuke had called it, appeared to be a cloud. It was quite small, but was undoubtedly a cloud, its outlines easily identifiable.
"That's… A difficult question to answer… I'm not sure I even want to test it to find out," I replied, sheathing my sword as I attached it to my side, now hoisted along a belt.
"Yeah, yeah… You've got a fancy new power, huh? Don't go thinkin' for a second you're stronger than me, Lance, 'cause you ain't!"
Grimmjow, despite coming across as angry and pissed off, seemed somewhat playful. He started punching my arm rapidly, his feet moving all over the place as if he was boxing.
'That hurts…'
"Here," Sado said, handing me a mirror with his left hand, his right one dangling on his side.
"Thanks"
Raising it up, I finally got a good look at myself for the first time. My hair parted ways towards the middle of my hairline, the silvery-white flopping down on both sides symmetrically, somehow.
'It's like I'm really in an anime…'
My horns protruded from the back of my skull now, wrapping around my head and winding up near my temple like a crown, the visor now nowhere to be seen.
Fortunately, my facial features were the same as they were on Earth, sending a reminiscent feeling through my body, warming me up a little.
'Anything resembling Earth is a good thing in my books… But, this is a little weird… '
While my appearance was welcome in my books, my eyes were a little different. The once brown eyes I had had been completely replaced by two yellow gems, their golden hue almost radiating the mirror itself.
'Why'd my hair and eyes change color… I guess becoming a hollow does that to you?'
Either way, my new appearance wasn't unwelcome. I was glad to have kept some semblance of my former self. Even a small amount would have been nice, so this situation was already a positive.
"I must say, from the Arrancar I've met, you seem incredibly well-kept and tame, especially considering your appearance." Kisuke said, observing the lightning running up my blade as I sheathed it.
"You think?" I asked, unsure as to his comment. While I was pleased I didn't look terrifying like some of the other Arrancar and Espada, my crown-like horns were still ominous.
"I think you look amazing!" Orihime said, praising me with a thumbs up.
Sado didn't say anything, only nodding slowly as he matched Orihime's gesture.
Grimmjow was standing in the other room, hidden behind the makeshift-door, "oi, Kisuke… This thing is beeping a ton!"
"I need to go somewhere…. I'll be back soon." I said, reassuring them as I quickly left the camp.
I wanted to say goodbye to Grimmjow, but he seemed more interested in the video call that'd started.
'If the first Invasion has already taken place… Just how long was I out for?'
The fact Kisuke was now preparing for the video call with Ichigo and the Captains meant the first invasion was already over. The Royal Guard were likely making an appearance now within the Soul-Society, whisking Ichigo and his friends off to the Royal Palace to train.
I' need to reach Soul-Society quicker than I realized…'
For my plan to work, for me to be able to act freely and find out more about how to get home, I needed to speak with a certain someone.
'Reaching Muken is going to be harder than I anticipated…' I thought to myself as I unsheathed my Zanpakutō.
Hmmm.... I'm not a fan of this chapter or the direction it went in. Not too sure why, maybe because it felt rushed, maybe it was the dialague. Either way, I'm likely to go back and edit this one heavily sometime in the future if I'm ever bothered.
Let me know in the comments how you feel about it :)
Also! This will be the final chapter for a couple days while I work on some better chapters for anyone reading. Think I'll plan out the future of the story instead of writing aimlessly this time :)
