Blades & Roses

Blood. Blood was dripping from my forehead. Panting, I tried to catch my breath. For a minute, I was tempted to look back and see if the Japanese Yakuza was chasing after me. I muttered a curse, trudging through the quiet street, making sure to hide in the shadows, avoiding all streetlights. Stupid Japanese Mafia Boss and his claim to rule the mafia world. But I will never let him. Not after killing my entire family. Thinking about them, a brief flashback of my father screaming for me to flee before a bullet passed through his head, instantly ending his life, appeared in my line of vision. I clenched my hands into fists, sadness and fury burning inside me. I will make sure that the Japanese Mafia will pay for what they did. I will avenge my father. My family. From this day forward, they have declared war. And war they shall have. *** Cover Image from Google

All of a sudden, Rose was tense. Though she tried to hide it, I have learned to read people and her sudden silence gave her away.

Though it was tempting to ask her what was wrong, I want to respect her privacy. If she wanted me to know or inquire, she would've said something.

But she didn't. Obviously whatever bothered her, she wanted to keep it to herself and if she's ready to talk, she would talk.

Earlier, she was just continuously talking, and I appreciated her being open like that. The likes of me and her rarely open up to people and when we do, it's because we somehow feel safe.

I'm glad that she felt that way, even though it only lasted for a few minutes.

I appreciated those few minutes with her, no matter how brief.

If not for the interruption from Aki, I think she could have said more.

It was quite sad, but at least I got to know Rose a little.
