Prologue

The darkness covered the whole city, it was four o'clock in the morning, and the little brightness from the east emerged as if it were a shooting star. The stars and the moon still shone and gave a light that colored the desert landscape of that area.

In the distance, you could see a white house with a modest appearance, it had a barrier of small steel sticks that protected it. A shiny wooden door opened, escaping a squeaking sound that was heard all over the street. A silent street, where even the heartbeat could be heard.

From the door a man came out, his forehead and torso soaked with sweat. He wore a blue shirt open to the navel, black pants that combined with the darkness of the night, a belt with a giant buckle, which when in contact with the light, emitted a golden glow, and a pair of impeccable leather boots. With his right hand, he held his black hat, and with his left, he held a beer can.

Every step he took, the beer spilled and his feet stumbled, his shirt was covered with sweat and the smell emanating from his body was a powerful combination of an old man's lotion and his penetrating body odor. It took him some effort to reach the exit, he held himself over the fence for a few seconds and continued the odyssey. The only light that could be seen was a spotlight in the middle of the street, a golden light that barely illuminated the street, which was full of dirt and enormous rocks that made it difficult for anyone to pass. The young man opened the gate and left the house, his steps were still inconsistent, so much was his desperation that he threw the beer can aside, hitting a concrete wall. Very slowly, the young man put his hat on his head and continued walking towards the car.

There were few cars at that location, a navy blue sedan, a red convertible sports car, and a black pickup truck, which was the young man's destination.

With all possible skill, the young man looked for the keys all over his body. The sweat returned to his forehead, despite the refreshing wind. His hand movements became increasingly clumsy to the point that he almost gave up until he checked a small pocket in his shirt. The young man immediately took the keys and opened the van, got into the driver's seat, and leaned back on the steering wheel for a few seconds.

Inside the young man's head, the look was erratic, everything that happened outside was spinning around a thousand times, inside the car, the vehicles parked right next to him, did not stop moving. The young man's body and mind were tired and all he did was lie down on the co-pilot's seat, put his feet up on the window, and immediately fell into a deep sleep.

Some shadows lurked near the young man's truck; they were about three people covered entirely with black cloth. The faces were impossible to observe and all that could be seen were the movements of their bodies getting closer and closer to the truck. The steps did not emit any noise and their very presence camouflaged perfectly with the silence of the enclosure.

They were getting closer and closer until one of them got to the car. He was the tallest guy of the three, and his body looked the heaviest. He stood in the co-driver's window and with a sharp object hit the glass, breaking it into thousands of pieces. The strike was so perfect that no sound was emitted; it was as if the same wind had hit that window. The intruder put his hand inside the car to unlock the door. With a hunter's instinct, he pulled a thread out of his sleeve and immediately wrapped it around the neck of the young man who was still drunk and asleep.

With a strong pull from the intruder, the young man dressed as a cowboy woke up shaking his feet and twisting from one side to the other. It was increasingly difficult for him to breathe and the corpulent intruder did not lessen his strength, he remained rigid and showed no mercy. The young man took a look to appreciate the kidnapper, but all he saw was the balaclava that covered his entire face. With his last remaining strength, the young man took a blade out of his pocket, thinking that luck was on his side, and attacked the intruder with the blade, injuring his right arm with a scratch.

The guy dressed in black was not even bothered by the young man's action and continued to suffocate him, making it harder and harder for him to keep his eyes open. Without further delay, the intruder finished his work leaving the young man unconscious with saliva coming out of his mouth and with a huge red mark on his neck.

The intruder immediately put his body motionless on his shoulders and went toward the darkness, where his companions were waiting for him. Out of the shadows came a black sedan, with tinted car windows and dark wheels that were hidden by the shadows of the houses. The intruder put the young man inside the car, took out his cell phone and called, it didn't take long for him to answer.

"It's ready, we're done," said the intruder, toning down his voice.

"Great, I'm looking forward to it," the voice on the other end of the line was high-pitched, almost as if it were a woman, but at the same time, it had an elegant and sophisticated tone. "Oh, by the way, don't forget my dessert, thanks."
