Tension

He gave her that cold look as of the first day that they met. She was now getting nervous as his expression was changing. His face looked stone cold but his eyes were still seducing. She was wondering whether he was trying to play games with her, or he had changed already or whether it was just her imagination.

Her countenance changed as her smile began to fade away. She looked away from him, stealing some looks at him to see if his face had changed but it didn't.

The priest watched them as he was also wondering what was going on. Everyone's heart froze as he left them in suspense. Julie was also nervous that Maxwell might say no, she didn't know him too well to read his mind but from the look on his face, it wasn't going to give a good response.

Ava was getting tense. She turned her face occasionally as tears began to well up in them. She felt stupid once more, this man was going to take his revenge on her. He was going to embarrass her on her wedding day. She wished she had married Sebastian, at least she already knew her fate and could see the future with them but with this man right in front of her, she was confused.

His mind was not readable, his eyes were too cold to look into. She couldn't get on the other side of his thoughts. She was very disturbed.

"Please do not today…please don't embarrass me right here…please don't do this…punish me elsewhere and I'll accept whatever punishment but please don't do this to me. I'm so stupid to have thought that you will marry me. What was I thinking? What even made me accept your ring? How stupid was I? You have a way through my heart, but I don't. I don't even love you…I don't know how I got to this stage with you. Oh Lord please help me just this once…ease Maxwell…say yes…say yes please…" Ava prayed in her heart as she looked flustered.

She looked at Maxwell with pleading eyes. He didn't blink, he kept staring at her. His gaze penetrated through her heart like a sharp sword. It felt like he could read her mind. What was he? Was he some sort of robot that didn't blink? Everyone was left tense as some even joined their palms together as they waited in anxiety.

"Maxwell please…please say yes…" a

Ava prayed in her heart as she looked at him, managing to look into his eyes, sucking in the fear it created.

"Yes…, I do." Maxwell replied after seven minutes of silence. Ava's heart dropped as she let out a sigh with a trail of tears running down her cheeks. Everyone sighed as they got up and clapped in excitement. Julie wasn't left out of this happiness. Even the priest smiled broadly.

"Thank you Maxwell." Ava said in her heart.

"Me too." He whispered on his lips. Ava smiled at him. He collected her hand as he slipped his ring into her finger, then kissed her on the hand. Ava smiled sweetly at him as she also put on his ring. He took her both hands and kissed them.

Eric was beyond shock. He wondered if Maxwell meant everything he said and did, he knew him too well or to say, he knew him to some extent. He wished that Ava wouldn't give in with all her heart because he won't think twice to leave her heartbroken.

The joy and happiness on Ava's face made him smile broadly, exposing his front teeth. He wiped her tears with his finger as he leaned towards her and kissed her on the forehead. A year dropped from his eye and only Eric was quick to see that.

What is happening? Is Maxwell really in love with this girl? He never shed a tear for anything, especially for a woman. Eric was confused. He didn't know if Maxwell was acting or was serious. He just flowed with the moments…he didn't even know if he should be sorry for this girl or be happy for her. Maxwell left everyone in a twist.

The wedding party went in full swing. Maxwell had already made arrangements for the reception at a very large hall. It was a surprise to Ava as she wasn't expecting this. As Sebastian had told her earlier, they won't be having a large party because of finances.

After they left the hall, her friends took her to the house. She was wondering what was happening. They were new people whom she had never seen.

"Who are you?" Ava asked as Julie came to the house.

"I am Andrea, your make-up artist ma." The lady replied.

"Make up artist? But I didn't hire you…" Ava said as she looked confused at her sister.

"Or did you?" She asked Julie.

"I'm surprised to see them here just as you are, I didn't." Julie replied.

"It's Mr. Maxwell that hired us. He asked us to dress you up for the wedding. Please don't have much time. Can I start?" Andrea replied.

"What? When…how…I don't get…" Ava was confused. How did Maxwell plan for all of these in a short time? He kidnapped her just yesterday and today, he is all prepared for marriage with her.

She complied as she sat down and had her makeup done. A beautiful ball gown with golden and silver glitters on it was brought to her. She changed into it, her hair was styled into beautiful elegant, Vintage-Style curls. She looked super beautiful, more beautiful than a queen of an island. She wore her new pair of shoes that was bought for her by Maxwell. She loved every bit of this, she felt loved again.

She walked gracefully into the car that was waiting for her as she stepped on a red carpet that was opened for her from the door of her house to the car which was decorated with wedding designs. On the car bonnet was her picture. She was filled with tears but Julie told her not to cry or else her makeuph will be messed with.
