Matter Blink!

Hugo felt the weight he was carrying increase when Alpha2 gripped hold on him.

"Umph!"

He grunted as the burden became more evident, but adjusted the position of his wings to balance him and Alpha2 in the air. Hugo stared at Alpha2 for a good minute, during the span of that minute, they had nodded to themselves, implying that Hyena would take care of the monsters for that matter.

And knowing Hugo and Alpha2, Hyena had already guessed that much when he saw Alpha2 grabbing hold of Hugo's hand.

They were planning something, that was for sure.

Meanwhile, Hyena finally got the chance to go wild after days of just sitting around, fighting some lesser monsters and other shit like that. Life was hard with an intellect such as his. He felt everyone was an idiot, almost every situation was unamusing, and almost everything was annoying.

Now, he saw some monsters that would just keep getting back up, again and again. It was heaven, and to top it off; the monsters had unbelievable strengths. They were so strong that it made him mad.

"Enhanced Claw strike- Guillotine!"

Hyena bares his hands to show claws that were growing at an alarming rate, the claws reached a length of no less than 12cm—it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the length was a bit shocking, and the structure was even more peculiar.

Hyena gained the physiology of a mutated spotted hyena and became an Evolutionary, but a fact recorded by people in the past about spotted hyena (Hyena can be plural or singular. In this case, it is plural) was their blunt and nonretractable claws.

However, Hyena had defied science by going against these two recorded facts. The force of the strike was enough to slash three of the monster's heads off.

And like blossoming green flowers, the fountains of green erupted after the X-shaped strike.

Now, there was only one Plague monster still able to fight. It was the one, Hugo was about to pulverize before Alpha2 interrupted him.

"What are you guys even doing?! Attack better next time! If you don't fight properly, we won't be able to have fun when Alpha2 finishes his conversation with Hugo."

*Cough!*

'Stupid old man, does he expect me to waste the powers of these Plague monsters before I even get to test it against that Hermes guy and Hugo?!'

Vector, the so-called harbinger of Plague and misfortune had no intention to talk to this guy who hadn't even awakened an ability. In his eyes, Evolutionary were just the products of failed experimentation.

But his passive approach just gave Hyena more and more reason to keep attacking him.

"You must take me for a fool if you think I don't know you're looking down on me. If I can't even sense that much, why would I have left my country which I have high control over?!"

Blue energy engulfed Hyena's body for a brief second and covered the entirety of the Plague monster's eyes, and simultaneously Vector's eyes widened.

'What?! Dammit, why is everyone this Black Knight nows so weird, I had a vague feeling that I should have requested more information on this guy!'

From then on, Hyena radiated titanic levels of energy. Like a giant beastman from heaven descending to the earth—that was a farfetched analogy, but it was certainly what Vector was feeling at that moment.

"Dammit, I didn't prepare enough Plague seeds for this event, it seems like I'll need to retreat temporarily and strike at a later date."

Unknown to him, as he said that last part out Hyena unveiled a triumphant smile.

"You finally spoke... But I'm curious, those Plague seeds that you spoke of. Are they in any way related to these funny-looking monsters?"

Vector realized his earlier mistakes and gave the command to deal with this man before things could get any more out of hand.

"Hold on, Mr Vector. Before you so foolishly attack Hyena, I would like you to know that I'm ready to annihilate your monsters." A low whooshing sound appeared next to one of the plague monsters and from there, a familiar figure showed himself.

The newly resurrected plague monsters turned away from Hyena and looked at Alpha2 at the same time; their bodies seemed to come alive with energy as they rushed towards the one who humiliated them and ignored the orders of their master.

"COUGH!"

Their rage was unbearable, making Vector realize another of his flaws. These monsters that he'd placed so much confidence on... were useless.

'What good is a soldier that doesn't follow his general's orders?'

As he saw the event unfold from within the eyes of the monsters, Vector had already decided to destroy all his current prototype Plague monsters. He would make new... more perfect ones!

Now that he'd seen how useless these things were against Skydancers like Black Knight and his Squad, the last thing he wanted to do was keep fighting and on the opponent's side, the last thing they wanted to do was let him go.

Hyena was out of the loop, he saw Hugo and Alpha2 talking earlier, but he didn't check with them to see what the plan was. And this time around, he saw Alpha2 gradually but all the while still distancing himself away from the opponent.

'This is a disgrace,' Hyena couldn't help but think to himself. He was no muscle head, but seeing Alpha2 challenge Vector, then retreat afterwards was just extremely disappointing.

'Whatever!'

He looked over to Hugo who just nodded, upon noticing his weird gaze. This led Hyena to the conclusion that Alpha2 had something extreme in mind. And as for that nod, he knew exactly what that meant.

"Shred them as you will."

It was the kid's vocabulary. One had to wonder what kind of life he lived to have formed such a twisted sense of voiceless communication. But who was Hyena to judge, he was probably more familiar with this kind of gesture compared to Hugo.

'No wonder I feel so in sync with him. This Hugo kid has been trained by a professional at these kinds of things, but who?'

That didn't matter at that moment, he had a job to do, and that was to shred the living hell out of these things. So much so that Vector wouldn't recognize them.

Hyena leapt into the air and brandished his clawed hands that shone greedily for more killing. Snarling at three of the monsters, Hyena slashed downwards onto the monster's heads.

"Enhanced Claw Strike- Lacerating cut!"

The force of the strike pierced into the earth at least three or four metres inside. Three monsters were slashed into bits, and since they weren't smashed, they couldn't duplicate themselves and only healed their joint parts together.

"Showoff." Hugo snorted and held his blade with his two hands.

"Magic Art- Blood empowerment!"

Hugo slid his thumb across the sharp edge of the sword and removed it when it reached the tip, and at first, there was no visible effect on the abilities of the sword.

But then, thick red blood dripped down, all the way from the hilt of the sword, to the tip. A red light shone across the blade of the sword, and voila! The blade of the sword became a deep red and was highlighted by occasional streaks of red.

"Unmph!"

Hugo adjusted the position of his wings and slashed down on three of the plague monsters.

"Dammit, why can't you just let me have my moment?!" Hyena's face became dark when he noticed the damage caused by Hugo's attack. The cut in the earth- no, it was too simple to call it a cut. The overwhelmingly long gash in the earth's surface had reached over six metres down.

"Oh? The both of you are quite good at impressing people, but unfortunately for you, this is not enough."

Vector spoke through three of the plague monsters that had now healed and were ready to attack again. But under his careful control, he had managed to hold them back.

"What the hell are you saying? You're... already dead."

"Matter blink!"
