9 New contracts

A complicated gaze flickers into a servant's eyes. Lowering his head as he was summoned to come forward.

Kenshin gave the merchant his due for the three slaves. Furthermore, their contract by "human" standards was handed to Kenshin to safe keep for now.

Unsurprisingly, Kenshin made his own purchase of that female fairy girl. Guess even a good up bring can't beat this world's low ideologies of women.

Here, a woman needs to keep her head down and follow her father, husband or son's decisions and can't voice her own.

Worse if that said woman is made a slave then she can't say anything even if she unjustly beat or rapped.

If the family is poor, the girls mostly get sold as a servant or slave to pay for their family's needs as they are seen as expenditure and aren't profitable.

They are considered less needed than a boy since they need dowry to marry out of their respective family.

Rarely, the girl happiness will be a concern for the father. As even the mother has no say in who her daughter will marry.

If a rich family needs a relation to another, often then the girl will be the "gift" to further up the relationship.

To be considered virtuous, she also can't date nor make male friends. Good thing I am not a human,

I wouldn't be anything near being virtuous in this archaic world.

I don't take orders from anyone and none can change my mind. Once I realize this, I couldn't help but snicker at the fact that it's in all fortunate that I am a tiger. I would be considered a tiger woman in this land unfit to be married and likely they would try to sell me off.

The fairy girl stepped into the carriage which is sent back with only her aboard since I and Kenshin walk toward a medicine hall to help my two children.

Also, I asked for some spirit-potions to grow cultivation as well. For the future one for each of the two boys.

On the other hand, the girl has trash talent. I don't need to know a lot to realize it.

The cost wasn't too bad, I still have a lot of silver left from the original amount I had borrowed.

I have one gold bar and nine hundred silver with a couple of coppers to spare.

Originally, I had two gold bars. But, before we headed to the merchant Kenshin had it broken into smaller silver and copper pieces for an easier time to purchase what I needed.

Arriving at the medicinal hall, we get a doctor to look at the two children. After an entire fifty silver were deducted from my wallet. From the examination fee to the cures and medicines. Here, health is for the rich.

Sigh.

Seems I will be hunting a lot and doing guard duty on the edge of the manor forest to prevent poachers and assassins to come from there...

The girl has been fed the medical porridge, and the boy as well to make sure he is not carrying the illness as well.

The other man that I purchased stays quietly with his head down. Looking at me from the corner of his eye. Complicated light shimmers in them from the look he has, he swears something in his heart.

The girl complexion improved a lot after being fed the concoction of medical herbs. She still had a fever, but she no longer was in critical need. Seeing her improved condition, I gave a head bow to the physician for the service granted to me in treating the girl.

He cupped his fist, returning the greeting. Even if my action had startled, him he recuperated fast.

I could not even guess his cultivation level, which leads to two possibilities: either he didn't cultivate and was trash, or his strength was greatly above mine. I lean toward the later, as one needs to have a good base for even making alchemy.

Kenshin stayed silent most of the time giving the physician ahead acknowledgement before leaving with me a new carriage. Obviously, the sick slaves couldn't walk the distance to the mansion.

A small carriage was brought along with Kenshin noble carriage. Class distinctions are very enforced, and a slave can't ride a master's one unless he would be serving inside.

The boy and girl get onto the farm cart. It has no ceiling to protect them from the wind. I look at it and lightly frowned. Looking around, I find a stall vendor that is selling home items. I walk toward it and have Kenshin buy four blankets that are thick and warm.

Since we don't have a physical home yet, I also buy two large luxurious style tents. A tall man would have no trouble standing up and have plenty of space to place all that is needed for living.

Also, I am growing fast. So I need to plan a bit about my adult size which is quite impressive. I wouldn't fit in a normal door, I need to plan accordingly. In case I can't change the size or become human-like. After all, it might be wishful thinking.

We move toward wood workman shops. Where we pass the command for a house to be built on the far end. Near a natural pond and stream of the prince private forest.

With this, I gain a safe territory, and Kenshin a free ferocious beast to guard his lands while I'm still young and small. Not everyone is an expert.

Most of the population are very low cultivators that can no longer pose a threat to me.

Greatly reducing those that would dare enter the sanctuary to poach.

The road that will lead to my home will pass at the centre and will be large enough to accommodate a carriage to bring the necessary materials to build the small house.

It will have two rooms large enough to home a nine meters tall tiger beast and smaller rooms for up to ten servants. For now, this is plenty.

The cost wasn't cheap, but since the material will mostly be from the forest and other trees will be uprooted to make the road some of the cost would be saved.

Overall, five hundred silvers came from my pouch for the road and house.

The furnishing would be nothing fancy, but it would be finely designed.

After all, it is still on the prince's land. It can't be too bad or it will make him lose face.

We finally headed home. I climbed onto the cart. Letting the little boy and girl curl up against me with a warm blanket, the sun had long gone down.

The night's cold grip is already here. To prevent their illness from getting worse, I had to make sure they were not cold.

Once we arrived at the estate, I established the contracts with them guided by Kenshin. The three were now officially under me.

They could not betray me as I would know by the link to the contract if they did.

They also could not harm me willingly, as this would harm them as well. The contract would bring retribution to them for harming their master.

They could also now hear my voice; a telepathic link was established when the contract was sealed.

We then took a few donkeys along, charged with the tent materials and some corded firewood, axes, pans with other cooking wares.

Even a bow with two hundred arrows was part of the cargo.

Most human necessities in addition to food, seeds and medicinal herbs that could be planted and grown were stored somewhere in there.

We set out near the middle of the night. The little girl slept through the whole trip on my back. I had her brother cover her with one of the blankets so she wouldn't be cold during the walk.

This long hike would still take a few hours considering the terrain.

Furthermore, we had donkeys to drag along. It would be a long sleepless night.
