Chapter Nine

Skylar Point of View:

I'm stuck cleaning the showers until lunch, there are four other girls on Janitorial but I got stuck with the showers. Morales was on duty in the Shower unit today, she didn't speak unless she was barking orders. "So you wanna watch me get down and dirty on the shower floor, or you just like to watch?" I laughed squatting, scrubbing the grime tile. "Just do your job Skylar." she scoffs rolling up her sleeves. "No class Morales." I joke continuing to scrub. Now I just needed to drain the mop water. "Alright go to the Cafeteria now." She instructs after inspecting my work. I whistled on our way, there was a window in the Cafeteria I could see her. I feared we wouldn't make it here. "She is a pretty thing, isn't she?" I looked over and Savana was besides me. "That looks painful." I chuckled staring at her face. "Just a bit. So how the hell did you manage to bring her here?" she scoffs. "Mind yours." I roll my eyes and sit besides Flo. Ivy walks in with a huge grin on her face, "Savanaaa come join me for lunch. It's time to catch up with my big sister." she says pulling Savana back a seat besides her. "I think I'm good." she say turning to walk away. "And I think she wasn't asking." Olivia says pushing her into the seat before taking a seat herself. I couldn't hear any words they exchanged but Olivia's eyes never left me. Faye entered the Cafeteria and sat away from my table. I rolled my eyes and took a bite of the flavorless food. "Problems in paradise?" Lex jokes picking up on the tension. "Yeah." I groan laying my head down on the table. "It's just been a lot for her Sky, she'll come around." Flo encourages. Mitchell comes in and sits down next to us, "Tomorrow morning during breakfast get Faye and the rest of the girls into the Unit. There's going to be a riot." was all she said then she quickly left again. I looked over to Faye but it seems she left,then Olivia was gone too. "Flo, Roxie, Lex come with me." I say anxious. "Where is she?" Lex asks. "No idea." I say feeling helpless after checking the empty showers. "Check the yard." I said to Roxie and Flo. Lex and I went to the library. The lights were out, but the door was opened. "Fuck Sky." Lex called out from the law section. Faye was beaten and unconscious. Her face was bloody and her arm was cut up. "FAYE BABY, WAKE UP?" I wrap arms around her. "FUCKING HELP HER!" I scream as the alarm blars, Lex gets the nearest officer. In under two minutes they had arrived to take her to medical. Hamilton allowed us to follow her there, but not go inside. "CODE RED CODE RED RETURN TO UNITS IMMEDIATELY." The voice over the intercom speaks. Morales escorts us back, everything is in slow motion for me. I see Olivia hand something off to one of her buyers. She smirks at me pointing to her arms, mocking the cuts of Faye. I couldn't get to her, her unit was locked. "Who was it Skylar?" Mitchell asks me as I entered. "It was Faye." I breath out. My whole body was over come with rage, despair. The unit looked at me, apparently some of them had some kinda of loyalty to Olivia. I threw my up and laughed, "you tell your boss she's dead." I spit, Olivia's girls go into a rage, so do mine. "GET INTO YOUR CELLS NOW IMATES!" Robin instructs us trying to break us up. "That bitch got what she asked for stepping in with Kelly." One of the girls screams. I turned around and my fist lands on her jaw. The rest of the girls riot against each other. Clare was her name. I kicked her ribs then stomped on her. Three guard got a hold of me, right before they hauled me away I gave one final blow to her face. "WE GOT YOU SKYLAR!!" The rest of the girls tell as I'm carried away. As I'm lead into solitary, I pass unit H. Ivy was standing there looking at me, she shook her head. "See you when you get out." she waves. Savannah was also for some reason in solitary. I saw her through the window of the cement door. "Looks like you just caught a charge Sky, tsk tsk." She speaks looking out of the window. "The hell with you Savannah." I shout pacing back and forth. My body continues shaking. Within half an hour Hamilton and Santiago were coming to see me. "Do you need medical attention?" Santiago asks holding a clip board. "No, is there any news of Faye?" I ask them but my question goes ignored. "I will be strip searching you for any wepons or drugs." Santiago tells me. "Whatever, how is Faye?" I ask again looking at Hamilton. "If there's an update we will update immediate family." Santiago tells me. "Hamilton leave the room please." she instructs him. I removed my clothes while she did what she had to do. "Faye hasn't woken yet. There was a weapon that wasn't found at the scene, we will search for it. Can you tell me what happened with Claire in unit I?" she asks me taking a seat on the bed, setting her clip board aside. "Let me know when she does, yeah?" I said not speaking another word.
