Shadow God

The weather was calm and the environment was peaceful. The sound of bird chirping was echoing throughout the forest. All other animals were doing their work of gathering food. They suddenly halted in their work and turned towards a specific direction. There was a momentary silence, silence before the storm. Soon the silents were broken by four boars running crushing all which came in their way. This caused all the other animals to scatter away to save themselves. But the boar wasn't running for no reason no they were being chased by an individual clad in black half t-shirt and pants. With black boots and hand covered with white bandages like fingerless gloves not for injuries but for protection. His half face was covered with a black mask leaving only eyes and hair out. His skin has a perfect tan shade colour. With his eyes being a shade of purple giving a dangerous aura. His hair was the shoulder length in a pony tail with the darkest shade of black which on each turn flows.

These boars weren't normal ones they were enhanced by mana. They always reside in high mana density areas which help them grow as big as hippopotamus with fire coming out of their top of head and limbs.

They normally didn't cause any problems but in this particular season their numbers exponentially increase thus creating shortage of food. Which leads them towards the human fields.

That's why villagers filed a complaint to the magic knights but they got no response. They lived in the forsaken realm, the outskirts of the kingdom where people with weak mana reside because of that they were mocked and disrespected by nobels.

Magic knights which mainly consist of nobels which reside in the inner states of the Kingdom ignores them thinking they don't deserve their assistance for the simple region being not taking birth with high mana.

That's why they have to shift to a separate organisation which takes missions often deemed insignificant by magic knights. It's mainly filled with people who were not able to join the magic knight.

While magic knights are free service issued by the government of the Kingdom unlike this private organisation who takes more money than necessary.

They have to combine their months of expanses of the whole village to afford the mission otherwise they would have starved throughout the winter.

'I have already chased them away from the village but they would return again if left. I have to take care of the extra boars so they wouldn't move away from the forest in search of food.' he thought while chasing the boars.

He was letting them escape in order to reach their territory to hunt down extras.

It takes the whole day for him to locate their territory by chasing the boars. But he was surprised by seeing their numbers..

'It seems I have underestimated them. There are at least 50 of them. I have to hunt at least 20 of them to even the words.'

He thought as he releases his mana outside creating a heavy and dangerous aura to scatter them away, while also keeping them away from the direction of the village. He attacks one by one using his magic to create tendrils which he uses as a blade to slice. He made several spears to impale them killing them in efficiently. He uses the same method to hunt down everyone.

'Hunting is always fun to hunt prey. Instead of getting rid of them at once, enjoying the hunting is much more fun.' he thought with a smile while Also looking at the dead boars.

'But I should look for surroundings I can't go causing more damage than necessary' he thought while shaking his head.

He then proceeded to extend his shadow towards all the bodies of boars and teleported all of them in the village as proof of completion of the mission.

He then takes a confirmation slip from villagers to show at base as proof and he gave them all the hunted boars because they paid nearly a month of expenses in hiring the Receiving food and well wishes from grown ups and admiration from children who have stars in their eyes. If they use preservation magic this can solve their food shortages for the week at least.

He returns to base at midnight.

He took his money and left the base to have a good half night sleep. He reaches his house which is made of wood,consisting of a bed, and a kitchen in the outside of the house where he uses woods from the forest as fuel and uses mud to create a makeshift stove and some utensils. He normally would hunt for food, sometimes he would be offered food by the clients. He uses the nearby river as a bathroom.

He took off his mask revealing a handsome face with a scar on his left cheek. He then proceeded to take his t-shirt revealing a well toned body not for bodybuilding but for agility and Power. His body has numerous scars in a claw shaped mark. After that he changes his clothes and gets in bed to sleep.

The next morning he woke up by the sunlight stinging in his eyes.

'Haa another morning, It's only about a year when I could attend the grimiore acceptance ceremony to get my grimiore. I wonder how it would be' he thought while going for his morning routine which is getting fresh up and doing some pushups, situps and mild stretching to get rid of soreness.

He takes out a boar from his shadow which he stored yesterday after hunting. His shadow magic also allows him to Store non-sentient things in shadow as an inventory in which he could use magic to preserve food but for limited time only. He could carry five to six of them easily from one side of Clover kingdom to another.

He skinned the boar and made it ready for cooking. He cuts a big piece of meat and preserves others for later usage.

He uses a stick to hang it on fire and sat aside waiting for it to cook while thinking

'I remembered when I didn't skinned and cleaned it properly. I got food poisoning, I have to use my magic to heal myself.' he chuckled while remembering his previous actions.

'Mother used to always tease me that I should get a wife soon because I couldn't depend on my cooking while I used to defend myself by saying I don't need anyone because I had my mother and she used to pamper me for the whole day.' he thought happily remembering his moments with his mother.

He was woken up from his thoughts by burning the smell and looked up to see the meat burning.

He quickly picked up the meat and started blowing air to cool it down.

He looked at his meat with a deadpan expression ' At least it is not undercooked' he thought and started eating the meat. After finishing he went towards the base.

He reaches the base and proceeds towards the counter for the mission. While working for 6 months he got the name 'Kage no kami' the Shadow God. No one knew his real name so they used to call him 'Kage' which means shadow.

"Ooh, Kage how are you, my boy?" The man sat on the counter asked in an overly friendly tone.

Kage understands that there are various types of people who wouldn't hesitate to sell off their comrade for money so he dismisses him by saying

"Misson"

"As always directly on mission. You are young, you shouldn't worry about money this much and enjoy your life more but whom I am to say anything I don't know a thing about you and your reasoning." He said while handling him the scroll which has mission details.

As he was to leave he heard

"You have assigned a pair for a mission because it is time consuming mission and we didn't know about your full capabilities. That's why to be on the safe side we have been paired up. He hasn't come yet I will inform him about your location when he arrives." He informed him

Kage nods his head in understanding and said

"I will be on the back of the base near that big tree." He said and left.

'I only take the mission alone to complete it quickly so as not to hide my capabilities or magic because what I want to achieve can't be achieved without it' he thought as he proceeded with the mission report.

'It's a bandit eradication mission and it is the biggest group I have ever faced. This should be interesting. Individually they are very weak but in groups they can cause people to even some of magic knights but it would be easy.'

He thought as he waited for his partner to arrive. After waiting for half an hour him partner finally showed up but it was two but what caught his attention was their mana level they were similar to his mana level although he has far more than them but considering he has an enormous mana pool it only means one thing.

The smaller one asked

"Are you the one assigned to this mission with Captain Yami." But kage pretended to be ignoring him looked at the bigger one and said

"My I don't expect Magic Knight captain.Aren't they aren't paying you handsomely" he asked mocking in voice concluding that they having such huge mana means they were magic knights or nobel but nobel won't even come here for visit let alone for mission so they are magic knights. And from the insignia on their robes and the smaller ones referring to another as caption meaning he is Magic Knight Captain. One step below becoming Wizard King.

"Well Captain Yami, lost all his income on gambli....." Before he could complete his sentence he was lifted up by now known Yami by head and flunged sideways.

"You can go do whatever you want but I want you here when my mission is completed" he said and walked towards kage.

"Captain, how could I possibly know when your mission will be completed." He asked with fear and curiosity.

"Surpass your limits" was only Yami said before following Kage who started leading him towards the mission area.

"Our mission is bandit eradication, there is news of spotting bandit groups terrorising villagers. They are said to be in possession of magical items which increases their magic out and their numbers said be more than a hundred." Kage explained the mission

"Hmm" Yami hummed in response

"They just recently attacked a village killing many in the process. They also kidnapped children and women. They wouldn't have gone too far from the village because of hostages their speed would have been slowed down. We have to hurry." He said Yami's response was to increase his speed.

' This boy possesses mana even more than that of a royal maybe an illegitimate son. His decision making, calmness and understanding of situations is good even in comparison to most magic knights. Let's see how he fights.' Yami thought inwardly while showing indifference outside.

After sometime they reached the village.

"We have to ask the villagers about the direction in which bandits went and we have to split up in order to find them quickly

" Yami suggested while talking to kage for the first time.

"That won't be necessary." Kage said and expanded his shadow wide and raised his right hand and said

"Come Forth" and from his shadows came thousands of flying type creatures like small bees who blended in shadows of surroundings to conceal their presence and spread in all directions.

Yami looked at him in amazement and also irritated that he was outsmarted by a kid named" I will surpass my limit."

"These are my summons Their quantity depends on my mana. Maintaining big summons costs a huge amount of mana." He informed Yami.

These are mere mana constructs whom he gives a semi conscious to aid him in battle. Whether for searching, distracting or against a large amount of enemy. Whom he named summons.

He then commanded those bees type creatures summons to coat themselves with shadows concealing their presence.

'His summons concealed themselves that I can't even detect its KI. he is truly powerful' Yami concludes

"Found out" Kage said and started running towards North west of the village.

"They are ten kilometres away from here." He informed.

"They were slowly making their way towards the Magic Zone." he informed

He dispersed his summons as they started making their way towards bandits. He was only able to detect the place because he could use it as a tracker, but he can't obtain sensitive information; for instance, he can't see through the eyes of his summons because they aren't developed, nor can he hear through them.
