After Two Years

<p>Two years already. Those two years passed pretty quickly, Aina and I were actually among the people praying for the survival of humanity when the other faced the Gastrea of Level Four named "Aldebaran", and here I am today in front of one of the best civil security corporation ever in my opinion and after what happened Two years ago of course. The Tendo Civil Security Corporation. Today is the day I should meet with the president of that corporation to be able to work for them.<br/><br/>Once we arrived in front of the office building, my first impression was that it does not look so intimidating, it looks like a pretty decent normal building to me. Anyway, Aina and I took a step inside to finally get to that "Job Interview" and a little girl greeted us with a warm smile. She had some crimson hair, had two knee-length ponytails. She also had some kind of black tags on her hair with some designs that look like bunnies printed on them. Her outfit was a small orange hooded sweater with orange and red designs on the side, accompanied by a white dress that somehow was looking like a camisole, and her boots were very long (Knee boots). <br/><br/>She asked us to wait for a little bit because she was informing I presume the boss of this corporation that Aina and I were here. We suddenly heard a soft but still authoritative voice echoing in the waiting room that was telling us to come. <br/><br/>While entering the office room, a girl who was kind of my age, appeared in front of us, sitting at the desk, which I once again presume was hers. The first thing I noticed is that her hairs were really beautiful, Her violet eyes were piercing my soul. Her look was intense enough to make a person sweat. She noticed that and she told me accompanied by a sweet smile:<br/><br/>"Come on, there is no need to be that nervous, it is just some questions concerning the administration, that's All."<br/><br/>My Partner Aina who was sitting next to me, does not seem to be bothered by the presence of the young woman who was sitting in front of us, she was calm as usual. I did not notice that there was another little girl until my eyes went to the left in the corner of the room, a little girl, I would say around "Eleven" years old was staring at me with her blue-green eyes. Her short platinum blonde hair. It was not the girl that asked us to wait in the waiting room, it was a different one, for sure. I turned back my gaze to the young woman while listening to her rules, salaries, and our jurisdiction for the course of our actions, to not disturb the other promoters and their Initiators. The instructions were very clear. <br/><br/>After a few minutes, she called the "other members of the team". Of course, I was very curious about how many people we would meet, but to my surprise, there was only "one" guy, and "One" child. The child that was with that other guy, was the same one that greeted us on our way in. They started to introduce themselves, and the little girl immediately started:<br/><br/>"Hello! My name is Aihara Enju, but you can call me Enju, and I am an Initiator of the rabbit type! it is a real pleasure to meet you! And here is my partner Rentaro, I love him and I will marry him!!" <br/><br/>Enju was happy to see new people on the team, but I noticed while she was introducing herself, Aina reacted, that's normally not the way she is, if I could describe how she is normally, I would probably say; Very Cautious, Timid, introverted, not easy to make her talk or react, especially when she meets new people. Her reaction was really little, but I saw it. <br/><br/>The guy then started to introduce himself too:<br/>"Hey there, I am the promoter of IP Rank 210 Satomi Rentaro, and also the partner of the Initiator of IP Rank 210 Aihara Enju, nice to meet you, and welcome to our corporation, hope you two will adapt here"<br/><br/>Enju during the brief introduction of Rentaro, was in complete appreciation of Rentaro. Those two, are kinda weird, but hey, let's not judge them too quickly, after all, they are both from IP rank 210. <br/><br/>Then came the turn of the young woman who was sitting at the desk and the turn of the little girl that was staring at me in the left corner of the room earlier...<br/><br/>"Well my name is Kisara Tendo, my IP rank is 9,200 and I am the boss of this Corporation, It is nice to meet a recruit, hope you two will contribute to the prosperity of our Corporation." <br/><br/>Then the little girl in the corner of the room started to talk while walking out of her dark corner:<br/><br/>"Hello, my name is Tina Sprout, I am the Initiator of Miss Kisara, and my initiator type is Owl. I was ranked 98 but got revoked, so now my current rank is 9,200, it is a pleasure to meet you new Promoter and initiator."<br/><br/>Kisara then invited us to introduce ourselves, so we obliged. As I know well my partner Aina, I am conscious that she will never start to introduce herself first, so I always have no choice, I tried to be as polite as I could be while introducing Myself:<br/><br/>"Hello, My name is Noa Shouei, and my IP rank is 372, I am happy to be here and be able to work and make sure to maintain peace between humans and cursed Children, and here is my partner."<br/><br/>As usual, she kept her composure and started to introduce herself with her emotionless and cold voice:<br/><br/>"I am Aina Sumiko, IP rank, 372, Initiator of Lynx type, here to get the job done, nice and clean"<br/><br/>And that was the end of her very short Introduction. To be honest, Since the day I knew Aina, she never got too talkative, I remember the first we met, 2 years ago, she was running away from some human, that did some horrible things to her, they abused her, beaten, Shotted her under the pretext that she was a monster because of those "Red" eyes. Aina is, of course, a cursed child, but it did not prevent me to decide to take care of her, not out of pity, but because she is just...a child. to my eyes those children never disturbed me, they are just human and I just wanted to take care of a maximum of them, to make sure that all those little girls can live a normal life like every human, even if that made me a waste of society in the eyes of "The normal Population". I don't understand why, even after the new law regarding the cursed children, they still get hated for no reason, because Two years ago, Those same said monsters saved their ass from that Gastrea of Level "Four" if I remember correctly, But anyway, it's past, should not be bothered about that, because now I can help them this time. <br/><br/>I was still thinking about how I was gonna help them all when I got interrupted by Kisara:<br/><br/>"Hey! Are you okay? You spaced out for a bit..."<br/><br/>I took a few seconds to get back to my normal composure, while Aina was glaring at me but did not say a word: <br/><br/>"I'm, uh-umm, please forgive me, but don't you worry boss I am perfectly fine"<br/><br/>"Oh, ok, if you say" she replied quite confused, and then added.<br/><br/>"Well, please, I would like to talk to the promoters only, please, Initiators can you get out for a second? You can play outside or I don't know, make friends with Aina?" <br/><br/>Aina looked at me with some suspicion and decided to suddenly grab my hand, as like a signal she wanted to give me, but I nodded my head positively to tell her that everything will be okay, she then released my hand, and went out with the "Two" other girls and closed the door behind her. In the room were only, Rentaro, Kisara, and myself.<br/><br/>Rentaro just started talking out of the blue but he was relaxed enough and could be seen as confident, serious, and especially serious:<br/><br/>"Well, thank you, for being part of the team, but well we have no time to chit-chat, there are still a lot of cursed children out there that need education, of course, our main goal, is to make sure that the gastrea don't penetrate the city, and eliminate them all, but also make that the cursed children have a normal life, just like us. So I'm going to build a new school for them...again..."<br/><br/>"Again? What do you mean by again?" I replied trying to understand their intentions toward that said School they wanted to build for the cursed children.<br/><br/>Then Kisara took the other part of their thoughts:<br/><br/>"What does Satomi mean by "Again" well, umm, Two Years ago, we built a school in the "Outer Area" I don't know if you know what this place is, but I will assume you do, do not waste our time. As I said earlier we built a school in the outer area, the cursed children, and well, The place was bombarded, and they...all died."<br/><br/>"Now I think you know why we did not want the girls to hear it again, they were in that school, not your Initiator tho, but still to respect them, we prefer not to include them in that discussion." Replied Rentaro quite angry and sad at the same time."<br/><br/>"I...I understand" I replied while being somehow shocked by what I just heard. <br/><br/>Something that no one knew in that discussion including myself, was that the "Three" Girls were listening behind the wooden door and heard everything that had been said in that room. <br/><br/>After clarifying what Rentaro and Kisara wanted to do concerning the school, they called back the girls in the office, and that was it, it was the end of what we can call a job interview. After the meeting, everyone went home.<br/><br/>On the way home, Aina and I were talking about what we should eat tonight, and then she suddenly without any reason pronounced the following words:<br/><br/>"I'm sorry Noah" <br/><br/>"What are you apologizing for Aina? Is there something wrong?" I replied to Aina not understanding why she would apologize for. But she just said it again, without giving me any context except this time she looked at me directly into my eyes:<br/><br/>"I'm...just, sorry."<br/><br/>Still confused about why she was sorry, so I stopped walking and crouch to her height, looked into her eyes, and replied calmly:<br/><br/>"Aina...you can tell me everything you know, we are partners, we can help each other alright?"<br/><br/>But no response to what I'd just said, she instead deviated from my gaze and replied gently:<br/><br/>"Let's just...go home, I wanna go home. You can choose what you want to eat, I will eat it anyway, your cooking is great."<br/><br/>After finishing her phrase she just smiled at me. So I didn't insist on the matter and told myself that I could ask her later, who knows, she might answer me. So took the food and directly went home together. <br/><br/>A few hours later it was finally dinner time, on the menu: "beef stew with rice, bean sprouts, and sautéed fennel" We both ate in silence like we usually do, then came bath time, and after that sleeping time, but before I took another chance to ask the same question I asked her on our way home, it was still pretty much the same response from her, "Don't worry it is nothing important, just try to get a decent amount of sleep because tomorrow, it will be our first day of work, we can't mess this up." while smiling at me. Perhaps it is best to forget about that question, even if I am still worried about that "Sorry". But I tried not to think about it too much, after all, if my partner says she's fine, then she must be fine, isn't it? <br/><br/>TO BE CONTINUED... <br/></p>
