IVY & JAKE

The week went by fast. My mind was still reeling from Matthew's confession. I had not processed everything that had happened with him or Lloyd. I was out of the loop with Lloyd's case, and there was more drama at school now that Ivy had been clearly avoiding me.

"Mila, Ivy and you haven't handed in your group assignment yet, is everything okay?" Dr. McGee asked. "I haven't seen Ivy in class these past week."

"Oh, sorry about that," I said. "We'll hand in our assignment before the last deadline."

"No worries," he said, "Just check in on her? I do not want two of my best students to fail my class."

"I'll do that, and sorry, again," I added, waving goodbye. 

My heart was in my throat. Ivy had not replied to any of my texts, and I was too distracted with the boys to wrap my head around what was wrong with her.

I called her five times on my way to the café before she picked up. Her voice was heavy as she feigned being okay.
