Chapter 6

Urmah seethed, he knew what his mother and grandfather, the king, want. He recalled the date very well and knows what he has to do, but fuck this he doesn’t want to go, he doesn’t want to meet his father or his brothers.

He meant nothing to them, yet again they take pleasure in tormenting him, and they enjoy his suffering. He cursed again, knowing that he had no choice. It is his duty as a prince; he is obliged to participate in that nonsense which will happen soon, willingly or not. Yes, he has to go, but it didn’t mean that will do it with a smile on his fucking face.

“Urmah please, hear me out my son.” His mother’s voice was firm with a hint of pleading, just a small amount of it. Yes, that was Anunit, the princess of Sumer, poised and strong. Even though she said please, she really doesn’t mean it. The princess only commands and you are supposed to obey, son or not.

“Mother, I know what is this all about, and as usual I refuse to participate in this mockery. This cursed man is no father to me. Each year we do this, I’m so fed up woman.” He stubbornly argued even though it is effortless.

Her body trembled while she growled “Every damned year we go through this, you will go like it or not. It is for your people's sake, you are their future king, your feeble pride be damned, there is no time to pity yourself like this. I thought you finally had grown up” She said firmly looking him in the eye challenging him to dispute.

Urmah paced the big throne room; his grandfather was silently observing the interaction between the mother and the son. Like she said every cursed year they went through this but she can’t blame him, she knew it did hurt him to go to Akkad, his father’s kingdom in the north, to attend the celebration of his o great father the king, name day.

The two kept arguing, and he had enough this needs to be ended now.

“SILENCe, stop this nonsense. Abil-ili you will go to Akkad as the prince of Sumer, that’s your duty it has nothing to do with your status as his son or prince of Akkad and that’s an order from your king. So you better choose your next words carefully. Or god be my witness I will shackle and send you there like an animal.”

The stern threatening voice of the king killed that ongoing travesty. The duo stood silent, their eyes glaring each other down.

“Don’t you ever call me with that wretched name, king Nirgal; you know how much I hate it.” He knew that’s the reason why the old man has used it.

That was the emotional slap he needed to wake up and remember his role and status. But he cannot help that burn in his chest whenever anybody talked about his other maker or anything related to him.

“Then stop acting like a fucking cunt and behave like a male I won’t even ask you to be a prince you are hopeless.”

Urmah gritted his teeth. Once more that old man made him feel like an annoying child, he has that talent to always humiliate him.

“Be ready in two days. You will leave as soon as possible, you have long days of travel to make. You are dismissed. Leave me to have some peace; you gave me a raging headache.” And just like that, the king treated him like the bastard that he is.

He grumbled all the way back to his quarters, trying to rein his temper but with no luck; once inside the prince screamed destroying everything in his way, cursed father, cursed Akkadian, cursed GODS. If they hated him that much, why wasn’t he born a slave or even a fucking mule? Flogging is better than this miserable life.

He was the fruit of a fake alliance everyone knew the truth, but they choose to ignore it and treat it as if it wasn’t there. Maybe that will make it disappear or at least be forgotten in his eyes.

Their land was comprising two sections north and south, the Akkadian were up north, Sumerian south and for hundreds of years it was peaceful. Some tribes made their own city, their own country and they co excited, yes there was some fighting among them and power struggles, but still life was peaceful.

His grandfather king Nirgal was a strong just king of all Sumer and his people loved, respected, and feared him for many years he ruled with an iron fist then the Akkadian decided to co-existing is not enough for them anymore and the north decided to take the south by force they wanted to expand their empire so they invaded Sumer.

The Great War lasted for years and years and no side was the victor, but then Sumer resources started to drain, even though the Sumerians were a proud warrior race the whole ordeal was sudden and although they kept fighting for years they weren’t prepared for this invasion.

So they made a truce the young ambitious Akkadian king leave victor and Sumer will be under his reign and to show the sign of good well the people needed, he would marry the princess of Sumer, princess Anunit.

Then Urmah was the fruit of this dreadful union and as a sick joke, his father named him Abil-ili a name similar to his own Abdi-ili. Cursed name, cursed father, and cursed creation. He threw the big bench by his balcony, shattering it into two pieces.

Anunit entered her son’s chamber. She knew how upset he was and how much hatred he has for his father, but she can’t blame him and he can’t blame her either. They both were forced into this circumstance; she did her part as a princess to save her loved ones. It was a fate the god chose for them.

Urmah ( lion ) was the name she chose for him after his father left or to be more precise discarded of them, their marriage was a political arrangement, there was no feeling between them, and that was fine by her she too doesn’t like the male.

The only thing she gained from this situation was her only son who she loved the most.

He was her pride and joy, very handsome, strong, and magnificent.

He has her light brown hair and honey eyes, and that’s where their similarities ended. Even though he doesn’t like to admit it, he is the spitting image of his father. The strong jaw, the sharp eyes, the physique, and the attitude.

Yes he was just like him; he has the temper of the Akkadian king and was stubborn as a mule just like him too.

She pitied her son, she knew what attending this occasion would do to him mentally and emotionally, his father never shown him any kind of kindness or love, he never treated him as a son, he always announced that he was just a bastard and has no right to call him father.

His two older brothers followed suit without even trying to get closer to him. That’s why she raised him to be tough, heartless, to be wild, to follow no one's rules, to bow to no one. He was savage, untamed, and just like a lion, just like Urmah. He needed no one. And that is how he always should remain.

“Still throwing a tantrum like a young?” She said with a taint of teasing in her voice, although the reason she visited him was to chastise him. He was brattier today.

The prince growled, annoyed by her interruption, “Mother, don’t use that tone with me “

“Then stop acting like a cunt as your grandfather said. “

“That fucking old man.”

She sighed shaking her head “You know he is right Urmah, this isn’t about you and your feelings. It is about what is good for your people; you are acting like a spoiled child. What would you do when you become a king? You are making him worried”

He stopped pacing, a sour look on his face; he knew she is right but still, he cannot subdue these feelings. His mind is at war between what he should do for his people and what he should do for himself. He too has the right to do what he wants and not be forced to bow his head to that bastard of a father.

That war has been raging inside of him for years now and he can’t find his peace, he won’t ever.

“I’m sorry, my poor son, it was my fault.’’ Anunit said with a voice full of sadness touching his face with shaking fingers and now he felt like an asshole, he has anguished her, he hugged his mother tightly to his chest “It is not your fault mother no one’s actually, it is the god's well UTU just hates me.” He said smiling even though he was merely joking.

“No son, you are blessed and one day you will feel it because UTU has plans for you, just wait and see.”

He didn’t reply, he just held his mother silently. Maybe she is right; maybe not what he is sure about is that in his twenty-four summers he felt nothing but misfortune and hatred for his whole being and existing.

He pushed her gently to separate their bodies and dried her tears “Now dear mother there is no need for persuading me any longer, I will do as you and grandfather asked, but know this I will suffer each day there because I will miss you deeply my Anunit, my star goddess.” She chuckled and patted his chest lovingly.

“So my little cub is sweet-talking me after plaguing me with hurt and sadness, I will bite your bait dear son, you need to leave at once so the servants can clean the mess you have made or else you will sleep on the ground this eve.”

He kissed her forehead and changed in something more comfortable other than the formal Persis he wore to attend to the court affairs and went searching for his friend.

It took him some time but his brother was drinking in the tavern they used to frequent. When he saw him his face brightened “The prince has come finally I tried to fetch you my friend, but I was told that you were with the king.” His drunken friend patted his back, encouraging him to sit and offered him some ale.

“He was informing me about my pilgrimage journey.” Urmah said sourly, raising his ale cup to his mouth drinking it in a single breath.

“What in the gods name are you talking about what journey? You make little sense at all, and I'm the drunken one.” Adadanu hiccupped and smiled, filling his empty cup cheerfully.

“Forget it my friend let us have fun this evening, and tomorrow we will ponder on what you have said.” He raised his hand, ushering for two females to join them.

“You have the first choice brother, I feel generous at the moment, my treat” He groped one’s ass and caressed the other’s chest “Now which one you fancy to suck your cock?” Urmah exhaled tiredly

“It doesn’t sit well with me at the moment brother you enjoy you and let me drink in peace.” His drunken friend frowned at him then shrugged and gripped a well-shaped female by the hair and pushed her face into his crotch. Spontaneously she sucked his cock with enthusiasm, making the male groan gutturally.

He swallowed two more cups before standing up to leave; everywhere around him everyone was engaged in some act of sexual activities, in another day he would be doing the same but not tonight.

He turned to let his friend know about him leaving but he was lost in his blissful sexual haze, so he left silently and went to his quarters wishing for exhaustion to take him and fall asleep.
