ODETTE'S POINT OF VIEW
As I left Zafira hanging with the reporter, I took the chance to drive away and went to the office. I was walking on the ground floor when I saw some employees watching on their phones. I step into the elevator and hear what they are watching; it's a press conference between Kiel and Zafira. I keep my posture and chin up, just like acting normally.
"This conference is regarding the issue of Kiel Calvin Lopez and Zafira Ajax. Before we start, we would like you guys to know that this is for confirmation, not misleading information or an unrelated issue. Who wants to ask first?" The conference was starting, the elevator was open, and as I went out, my employees bowed to me to show respect.
"Good morning, Ms. Odette. Mr. Chua just called and asked about the meeting later at one p.m," Trisha said this while we were walking to get into my office. As we get in, I put my bag on my desk and open my laptop.
"Confirm to Mr. Chua that it will be one p.m. and it will be in the Sky High Restaurant, the restaurant near their office. Also, Trisha, for the presentation, I want to make sure it's already prepared before we go on the meeting to make sure nothing will be a problem in meeting with Mr. Chua. Clarify everything with his secretary, okay?" Trisha took down notes on everything I said and nodded at me before she left my office. I sit down and start reading the presentation for Mr. Chua. My telephone rings, and I pick it up.
"Good morning, Ms. Lim." Is this Mr. Chua? I look at the clock; it's just ten in the morning.
"Good morning, Mr. Chua." "Is there anything I can do?"
"I want our meeting to be early, maybe after thirty minutes; don't worry, I won't hustle it for you if you can't make it. And please clear your schedule for the whole afternoon too." I still have a meeting for Dad's party coordinator this afternoon.
"Sure, I'll just tell my secretary in thirty minutes."
"Good." He hung up the phone. I took my bag and the report and went out of my office. I went to Trisha's desk.
"Let's go, Mr. Chua. We just called after thirty minutes. We need to be in the restaurant; also, clear my schedule for this afternoon; Mr. Chua requests it." While walking, I keep reminding myself what I should focus on. Mr. Daniel Chua is a young bachelor who owns a video game company.
"Ms. Odette, how about your meeting with your dad's party coordinator?"
"Let's reschedule it for tomorrow and be at eight in the morning, so I don't have to worry about that thing the whole day." When we reach the parking lot, I immediately get in my car with my secretary and drive fast on our way to the restaurant. I saw Mr. Chua get out of his car. As I parked my car, I gave my keys to Trisha and went to Mr. Chua.
"Good morning, Mr. Chua." I offer a handshake to him, and he accepts.
"Ms. Odette Lim, nice to meet you. I'm glad you made it. Let's take a seat." He pulled a chair for me as I sat, and he sat in front of me with only a two-person table and chair. I took my laptop, and I heard him chuckle.
"No need for that; I already read your proposal regarding my new company building. I just want to ask you, Ms. Odette, why would I get you as my project architect for my new company building? As I know, you're just a daughter of Richard; without his name, you can't be a well-known architect." I took a deep breath and looked at him. This is why I hate being a dad's daughter. I headed down while looking up at him.
I put my chin on my hands, placing my elbow on the table.
"I may not be famous or known just like my father, yet I did everything to prove I was as great as his. But in my work, not just using his last name; maybe I was his daughter, but as you can see in the proposal I made for your new company building, I may not be as great as his now, but I know in the future I can beat him and be better, not just to prove I was his daughter but prove I can grow with my foot standing on the ground. If you allow me, this daughter of Richard Lim can show you what she can do." I smile at him after what I say while still looking at him.
"Proving yourself may take a long time." He stood up and offered a handshake.
"I want to see how you will improve." Ms. Odette Lim, not just with this project but with future projects you can have with my company,"
"Thank you, Mr. Chua, for trusting me." I looked at Trisha and thumbed up at her. I saw a smile on her face.
"Did you clear your schedule, Ms. Odette?" He said he was an inch away from me.
"Yes, Mr. Chua."
"Nah, too formal; you can call me Daniel. Let's go. I would like to show you the place where I want to build my new building." He grabbed my hand, and I got up and grabbed my bag. I saw Trisha get my laptop. We went out of the restaurant and got into his car.
"I'll call the driver to pick up the car, Ms. Odette," Trisha said I nodded and closed the car door.
"Can I call you Odette, right?" I nodded and put my seatbelt on.
"I didn't expect to see you again after we graduate from middle school." Wait, that's the reason why his name sounds familiar to me.
"Are you Daniel Chua, as in the team captain of Aeris Academy? Wow! I can't believe it was you." He laughed at me while still focusing on the road.
"Yes, I am; I didn't expect you to become an architect. You were too popular because of your fashion sense way back then. I didn't know you were the one who drew that fantastic building, but when I heard your name in my secretary's voice, I immediately looked up your account on social media. To be honest, I didn't recognize you at first."
"Hearing your name was kind of familiar to me at first; if you didn't tell me that we both graduated from the same middle school, maybe I'm still clueless."
"That's funny, though; I heard from the news you are already engaged with the first son of the Lopez group of companies. Are you okay?"
"Should we switch the topic?" I laughed at him. My mind was full of thoughts about Kiel and trying to get rid of everything that had happened. I try to smile at him.
"It's hard to be his fiance. I know that. Don't worry, let's make ourselves busy and do this project together." He smiled; I didn't notice the perfect ratio of his face; maybe that's the reason why a lot of girls fall for him. When we reach the place for the site construction, I look around and see how it will be an inconvenience for all the employees. In front of the company will be the bus stop, and on both sides is an inconvenient store; a few steps away is a hospital.
"I love the place for the company building; it's convenient for the employees and has easy access to the bus and taxi stops."
"That's what we look for first before buying a lot for the building. We knew it was hard to get a transfer when it was rush hour; that's why we looked for a place near it. So they will have easy access and a convenient way to buy their goods if they don't like the food in the pantry area."
"Can I be your employee?" I said, hearing those words, "Look how important each employee was to his company.
"Nope, you can't, but maybe a special position suits you." He came an inch away from our faces. I gulp, looking at his eyes, pull myself away from him and look back at the lot. I can feel him smirking at me.
"Now I know why they say it's hard to make you fall."
"Hah?"
"Nothing, so I want construction to start as soon as possible."
"I will try to make it." He looked at the sky.
"Let's go; since I just got back from my flight, let's eat my treat, then we can watch the cinema. I will not accept a rejection, so you can't say no." He tapped my head and smiled at me.
He opened the car door and let me in first before he went into the driver's seat. While driving, he opened the radio, and while listening to the news, I heard that.
"Kiel Calvin Lopez runs out from his press conference, all his fans waiting to see if he can successfully tell his fiancée how he feels." Daniel looked at me, then back at the road.
"Seems someone wants to see you; good luck with him; you're with me, and I won't make you feel in pain now."
"Daniel, can I ask?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"Why are we going?"
"We can go to Paris just for a meal." My eyes were wide open. It seems he can do that, but the fact is that right now I still have a meeting tomorrow.
"Wait, I can't; I still have a meeting tomorrow with my dad's party coordinator."
"Okay, then how about we eat stake? Then we can go to the arcade." I shake my head and chuckle. I can't say no because our deal could be off.
"Sure."
He turned off the radio and started singing.
Being born in the same country
Talking in the same language
We're so lucky; it's such a relief.
Nothing is certain in this world.
On a day that I wore nice clothes
I met you, and I was lucky.
It's because I did well in the past.
I can call your name, and I can hold your hand.
Is the falling sunlight only shining on me? Can I be this happy?
You call my name, and you lean on my shoulder.
Is the sky's sunlight only shining on you? Can you be that dazzling?
So lucky, my love.
so lucky to have you
I consider myself extremely fortunate to be your love. hmm
I know this song. Lucky by EXO I sing along with him while we are heading to the stake house.
"You know their song too?" He said this while parking the car outside of the restaurant.
"Of course, I love their songs; I even once went to their concert."
"We have a similarity; it may not seem so, but I like listening to their songs, especially El Dorado."
"That's my favorite song." He went out and opened my car door. We went in, and he immediately ordered once we got seated.
"Good day, madam and sir; this is our menu." I look at the menu while browsing, and I feel my phone vibrating.
"Sirloin steak medium rare, a red wine, and you, Odette?"
"Same sirloin stake, but please, well done. Thank you." I give the menu back to the waiter, but still, my phone is vibrating.
"It seems you have an important call; you can answer that; we are still waiting for the food." He said while looking at my bag, "Is it that obvious that my phone keeps vibrating?"
"Sorry, I'll just answer this call." I grabbed my bag and went to answer the call; it was Kiel who was calling.
"Where are you?"
"I'm with a client meeting; why?"
"Send me your location, my queen; it's driving me crazy. I miss you. I have to tell you something. Please, let's meet now." I turned around and saw Daniel looking at me.
"I can't talk to Kiel; maybe later, when I get home, we can talk. I need to leave now, and Daniel Chua is waiting." I hung up the phone and went back inside.
"Sorry, someone just called."
"Is that your fiance who's calling you?"
"Is that blatantly too much?"
"So he's checking on you; just tell him you'll be safe with me; I won't hurt you the way he does." I cover my mouth and laugh.
"Tomorrow, after you meet with your dad's party coordinator, would you like to go out with me?"
"I'll look at my schedule first with my secretary; I'll message you then."
He held my hand while looking into my eyes. Exactly as I let go of his hand, the waiter came back with our order.
"Two sirloin steaks, medium rare and well done." The waiter said to place our order on the table together with the wine. While eating, he keeps staring at me.
"Is there anything wrong with my face?"
"Nope, you're just like a goddess who's eating the most expensive meal."
"Stop flattering me."
"I'm just telling the truth. Will you be mad if I tell you I want to know you more? Can I treat you more than he can?"
"You know I have a fiance, right?" And after what happened to us, he still wants to continue the wedding, and I don't know how to answer you right now."
"Where are you?"
"I'm with a client meeting; why?"
