THEY WERE ALL MISTAKEN
Esmeralda work up refreshed after crying all her emotions out last night in her father's arms.
"Sir, you have a visitor." The maid said to Robert who was busy reading a newspaper.
"Hmmm."
"Uncle…" Robert heard Elias's voice from behind.
He turned and face him, Robert really wanted to stand up and punch Elias but he controlled himself in other to give the young man a chance to explain himself.
"You are here?" Robert expressionless asked.
"Yes, Uncle can we talk?"
"Of course, we can… you also know we definitely need to talk as well right?"
"Yes, that's why am here," Elias said.
"Have a seat," Robert said while pointing at the sofa.
"About yesterday uncle, what you all saw have an explanation," he said, adjusting himself and continuing "Lexi and I did have a relationship before… but I broke it off when dad told me you guys decided to pair Esmeralda and me.''
Elias continued explaining himself without him daring to look straight into Robert's eyes, Which of course gave him away to Robert...
"I broke off our relationship I promised uncle… I have always had a crush on Esmeralda but I was afraid to tell her about my feelings due to the fear that she might break our friendship when I do so."
"Hmm… I heard you Elias, but will you tell me about yesterday now?" Robert moved closer to Elias, "How did that woman end up drugging you as you said yesterday?" Robert asked Elias whose leg keeps shaking when Robert moved closer and tabbed him.
"I was at home preparing for the dinner party when Lexi came, I told her to leave but she refused to and said she will only leave once we say goodbye to each other properly" Elias glance at Robert in other to see whether or not the man is believing any of his words.
He hurriedly looks away when Robert who knows Elias was glancing at him turned to gaze at him too. Robert gave him a slight smile which Elias knows it's an indication for him to continue.
"I believed her because when we broke up, she was against it Uncle… she also brought a bottle of wine with her, and we made a toss to our new beginning… I never thought nor suspect she would drug the wine." Elias sighed. "And more so that was because we were in my quarters in the Watson mansion and not outside anywhere else," Elias concluded and kept quiet.
Robert who saw that the young man kept quiet which is an indication that he was done explaining himself, "Elias listen to me, although what happened yesterday wasn't entirely your fault. I can't force Esme if she doesn't want to marry you. And I want you to know that I don't hate you at all on the contrary."
"But I won't force this marriage on her… Esmeralda will be the one to decide whether or not she wants to still marry you or not. And in case of whatever her decision maybe, I just want to advise you to make sure this doesn't happen again no matter with whom you may end up with. Because no one deserves the pain you put them through at all yesterday." Robert took a deep breath.
"My child didn't deserve what happened yesterday or the pain she is going through right now." He made sure to make it clear to Elias that he won't force Esmeralda as long as she doesn't want to continue with the wedding any longer.
"…Uncle please help me!" Elias said in a very sad tone.
"There is nothing I can do son, Esmeralda has the right to make the decision she wants because this is her life and not mine…" he sighed "I already learn my lesson, I will not be the one to take any decision for her but instead will support her on whatever she decided on from now on.
Elias immediately hold Robert's hands, "I love Esme, I promise you, uncle," he said as his tears continuously dropped.
Robert squeezed Elias's hands, "Like I said, I don't hate you at all, on the contrary, you are like the son I never had, you grow up right in front of my eyes, and I know you love Esme which was also amongst the reasons your father and I decided to get the two of you married. But I also won't force her to go on with this marriage as long as she doesn't want to anymore as I said earlier." Robert said to devastating Elias beside him.
"Bastard, you still have the nerve to show your face here?" both Robert and Elias overheard Patrick's angry voice.
Robert stood up, "Calm down Patrick, we need to calmly talk about this.''
"How can I calm down after what he did? hun?" Patrick angrily said.
"Yes I know what happened yesterday was wrong," Robert said while trying to calm Patrick down who is about to punch Elias.
"Am going to disown you, ungrateful bastard," Angry Patrick spurts.
Patrick's shouting brought Esmeralda and Linda down the stairs.
Soon after Vanessa Fernandez came out as well. Linda glared at Elias upon seeing him while Esmeralda turned her face away from him.
Elias immediately stood up and went forward to Esmeralda, "Esme please try to forgive me and give me another chance please!" Elias crunches down as he continuously kept begging Esmeralda.
Vanessa's eyes went wide open, what?
"What is going on here?" Vanessa asked confusedly.
"Aunt, that jerk was caught with another woman last night before the dinner party." Linda filed her aunt in since the woman didn't go with them to the Watson's last night due to her sickness.
"…What? How can you do this to my girl? hun? How can you? i thought you love her? What happened to that? Tell me?" Vanessa shouted at Elias who is still continuously crying under Esmeralda's feet.
"Aunt…"
"Vanessa!"
"Aunt!"
Esmeralda, Linda, and Robert shouted and Esmeralda immediately pushed Elias away and went directly to her aunt when Vanessa suddenly fell while shouting at Elias.
"Vanessa are you okay?" Patrick who also moved forward asked.
Elias also ran to them in other to check on the woman, "His condition deteriorated since last week that's why she wasn't able to come with us yesterday." Robert explained to Patrick.
