Chapter 26

Trista's point of view

When I opened my eyes again, I was chained to a chair with some filthy old material strewn about me. It appeared to be an abandoned fabric warehouse.

A group of men sat around a square table to play cards. When they heard, they raised their heads and looked about.

I sought to free myself from the rope that was tied behind me. I reflexively shrank back when I saw them approaching, but the rope around my hands and feet was tightly bound.

"What is your name?"

Why did you keep me here all this time?

They put on masks and appear ferocious. One of them extended his hand and lifted my chin. "It looks good."

They don't want to harm me in any way.

"It's no surprise Donald will like you." The kidnapper lifted my chin and peered.

"Don't worry, my brothers will never humiliate you as long as your man is prepared to let us live."

My man?

I paused for a moment to reflect. Do you mean Donald?

"You mistook..."

Misunderstood!
