"That's...horrible...inhumane..." Ariel muttered, staring into space as she slowly dropped her fork on the plate in front of her.

She slowly turned to look at Aiden beside her. He had a lost look in his eyes, and she immediately knew that recalling such a traumatic past wouldn't be easy on him.

"Hey, love, it's okay if you don't want to talk about it anymore; we can take it slow," Ariel shifted her chair close to him and placed her hands on his thighs.

Aiden smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. He shook his head and placed his hands over Ariel's on his thigh.

"Don't worry, it's been years, I just never knew I'd hate the woman all over again as I recall every detail," He chuckled darkly.

Ariel sighed.

"What kind of a mother does that to her child?" She mumbled.
