Chapter 79 Opening the Book (3)

Xin Hua sat down near Hu'er. He didn't have anything to present her now because the meat is already in the hands of Jiu Lin, getting ready to be cooked.

Hu'er looks at him. "I could only get meat." Xin Hua pressed his lips, ashamed. He felt his gift is still lacking. He only gave one and it will now be consumed.

"The meat is great. The first and last time I tasted it was when I was too young. Daddies even played with me to see if I know what are the tastes of the meats. I kind of miss it. So thank you for giving it to me. I heard it is a rare wild animal. Where did you get it?" Hu'er looks at him with eagerness.

Xin Hua's tail is swinging lightly. No one saw it but Xin Hua could feel it so he calmed himself down before telling Hu'er what happened, "I… I wanted to give you a diamond as a gift. Turn it into the small mirror for you. So you don't need to stand up to see yourself."

He always sees Hu'er standing up to see her face and if there is some dirt then goes back to sit. Xin Hua thought that if he made something that she could hold on to, she wouldn't need to stand up. The small mirror can just be near her fur blankets where Hu'er can take it whenever she needs it.

"That's so sweet of you, Xin Hua." Hu'er got closer to him. Her eyes went softer.

Hu'er didn't expect him to be so detailed and observant. She didn't even think of it yet he did. It was indeed very sweet of him.

Xin Hua is blushing. The other two were cringing at the side yet Hu'er and Xin Hua didn't notice them. The two already have their world.

"But I couldn't find any. The diamond mine is solely for the Tribe so I looked for other mines and couldn't find any. It's getting dark too, so I can only go back." Xin Hua sighed.

They can't go to Hu'er room or house when it is passed sunset. Jiu Lin and Ke Rin can't go upstairs too. They are restricted to her floor. This is the only time they can give her their gift.

He continued, "Before I could go out the mines, that wild animal ran in the mines. Because it's a bit old I was able to catch it."

Xin Hua put his hand on his nape. Hu'er saw his mannerism appear. Xin Hua will always do that when he is humble. She chuckles.

Ke Rin eagerly told what he did too, from choosing the flowers to creating the cream. He exaggerates everything that he did which made Hu'er amused.

When Ke Rin finished Shun Su stepped up and told her everything that happened to his journey of perfecting the skill of how to paint. When it comes to storytelling Shun Su is definitely the best. Not one of them can rival him.

Shun Su started from the very first time he thought of learning how to paint to looking for someone who knows how to paint, learning how to create a paint, and a good paintbrush, he even told her how there are tons of paint brushes, how to create a scroll, how many times he tried to paint her, his failure, everything!

Hu'er is so entertained and focused on what Shun Su is telling them. Shun Su finally finished and it was just in time as Jiu Lin and Song Li both went out.

"The food is ready. Dad would come up soon, we need to go," Jiu Lin put the food on the small table.

"There is still a lot of food downstairs. Uncle Jiu Hu said he will bring it up later." Song Li followed what Jiu Lin did.

Shun Su, Xin Hua, and Ke Rin also stood up and said their goodbyes to Hu'er.

"Thank you again~" Hu'er waved at them happily as they all went out.

Jiu Lin glanced at her one last time. She grinned at him. His eyes soften and smile at her too. Jiu Lin finally closed the door.

She waited for a while. Hu'er took the book that she hid under her blankets. She is grumbling under her breath about them coming at the wrong time.

She finally got the chance to open the book. Hu'er didn't waste any time anymore and immediately opened it.

Her eyes went wide. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She turned the page faster as if looking for something. Looking at every picture.

Hu'er is already grinding her teeth. Breathing heavily as she calmed herself down. When Hu'er got to the last page, she couldn't deny it anymore.

Closing the book, Hu'er stood up and put the book back where she got it. Sat down again, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath before releasing it.

Hu'er looks calm as she starts eating. However, she is screaming inside.

'Why did I even act like that? For what? For nothing! I must have looked like a thief! Or—or someone who is so suspicious! Luckily, no one saw me or they would be laughing!

Jiu Lin! That Jiu Lin also acted like that! Why would he act like that? Blushing as if he saw me doing immorral! I thought I did something shameless but I actually wasn't!

Well, if I did, he would be acting appropriately…

But no! That book isn't what I thought it would be! It's not! It's really not!

It doesn't have what I wanted to see! All those small words and those big drawings are so… so… so innocent!

Jiu Lin… Hmph! I won't talk to you anymore Jiu Lin! You fooled me!' Hu'er ate in frustration.

Then, she suddenly thought, 'I will make one to let you all see the true yellow book!'

Meanwhile, Jiu Lin, who is eating downstairs didn't know that he innocently got blamed for Hu'er's madness.
