Chapter 138 Almost

Jiu Lin and Hu'er are snuggling on the bed. They are both awake but not talking to each other. However the atmosphere wasn't awkward or cold, it was peaceful instead. Someone knocked on the door making Jiu Lin and Hu'er look at it.

Jiu Lin fixed Hu'er's position and put some blankets on her. He stood up and went to open the door.

"Dada…" her eyes lit up and wanted to get up. She stopped halfway and flinched. Her body is still hurting and some places are swelling too much.

"Hu'er!" Jiu Hu rushed to her, only to see Jiu Lin was already on her side.

"Why did you move? Just lay down. Dad won't go away anytime." He put her back to the bed.

Jiu Hu nearly scoffed. He went towards her side and said, "Go get a veil. I'll check her pulse."

Hu'er watched him leave the room. "Why do we need a veil?"

"You are already an adult. Some things needed to be avoided." His smile is full of pampers and a touch of worry. He really want to pat her head like he used to be but didn't do it.

She nodded, thinking that it was the same back in her world, where males and females shouldn't touch each other. Well, not unless you are a courtesan.

"I will do a simple checkup on you." Jiu Hu said as he took the veil from Jiu Lin's hand who just got into the room.

Jiu Lin trusts their Dad, Jiu Hu. He went out to get Hu'er some food as it would soon be time to eat.

Jiu Hu didn't stay any longer. After the check-up, he gave them medicine and told them what to take note of.

They are alone yet again. Jiu Lin is preparing the food on the table next to the bed. He sat down on the bed and took the bowl, planning to spoon-feed Hu'er. "Jiu Lin?"

"Hmm?" He looks at her. Spoon already filled with hot soup. He blew on it to cool it down before placing the spoon on her lips.

Face flush, she avoided it. "My hands are fine."

"Oh?" Jiu Lin stared at her hand. His eyes darken.

She immediately hid it. "It seems like my hands suddenly felt tired."

"Oh. Pity." He really looks so disappointed that made her face so red.

She pursed her lips before opening it "Ah…" When the soup went into her mouth her eyes shined. "Who cooked?"

He chuckles, "I did."

"It's delicious! Your skills are getting better and better." She clapped her hands happily to praise him.

He grinned and nodded, "Hmmm… to satisfy you." His eyes are hinting at something else. 

Hu'er was confused but soon realized the use of the word 'skill' has a different meaning. "I… Are we still talking about cooking?" Her lips are trembling. She suddenly felt her swelling part cramped.

He chuckled and muttered, "Oh... Yes." Looking down at the bowl and giving her another spoonful of soup.

After eating the two snuggled up to each other again.

Hu'er looks up to Jiu Lin. She asked something she has always been curious about "Will all females go through that kind of feeling? Like my body was burning. Our Old Grandma told me that the feeling of heat is like the feeling of being in the sunlight on a summer day and a female's body desires to get something cold. But what I felt was nothing like that. I felt that there was a fire inside me, burning me alive."

Jiu Lin thought about it, but he knew that Hu'er situation is a little bit different from what he knew. "As far as I know all females will feel that on their first mating. But we can let someone call Old Grandma to ask questions."

She didn't reply for a while before nodding, "I— yes… I need her."

He gently kisses her on the forehead, "Alright. Tomorrow before sunrise comes, I will go and tell them to fetch Old Grandma for you."

"Couldn't all beastman control themselves if they take the smell of a female on her first heat?"

Her Old Grandma is already in her home. They are happily making clothes for a female baby. As Old Grandma said, the clothes they are making can be their lucky charm. She nodded, "Indeed. Jiu Lin told me about that too."

Her Old Grandma finished the cloth and looked at it with satisfaction. She put it down and answered her, "They have consciousness, control, and rationality, they would mostly be curious or tempted but not to the point of losing control."

Although she is not yet done with the cloth, Hu'er put it away. "Why do only the fox beastmen have that reaction?"

"Peacock. When a female is in her first heat all unmated peacock beastmen who could smell them will transform into their beast form. They would then show off their feathers. The female will point at whoever she likes and mate with him. Others can only fly away sadly." The Old Lady stretches her waist and sat more comfortably.

While on the other hand, Hu'er looks very attentive that she even sat straight like a good student."Can you tell me more?"

"Hmm…." The Old Grandma looks up, thinking about what else she could share. "Cranes. I have never seen them but they are known for this mating process. There are also other air beastmen that dance to impress the female to choose them as a mate."

She pats her head and reassuringly told her, "Hu'er… Don't think too much. Based on how you described it You had an extreme smell and normal heat. Not extreme heat. All females go through that first heat."

"But I felt like… I almost died."
