Chapter 118 Consequences (2)

Summer is coming. The sunlight is not too blinding but they could feel it getting hotter when they stay far too long. The air is not yet hot. 

This is what Hu'er felt as soon as she opened the window. This made her remember something.

Ever since the day Hu'er regained that memory, her nightmare. She realizes why her memories are all messed up when she was a child. Why she couldn't remember the book that clearly, is because she selectively choose to forget it.

It's been forty-eight days. She never saw her Daddy Jia Ting anymore. Jiu Hu became very protective of her. Almost all her Daddies couldn't get near her. Her future mates will only visit her two times a day.

Hu'er didn't feel too restricted though. She could feel Dada's emotions. He is afraid something will happen to her. He is afraid of something.

Jiu Hu is making a powder at the very corner of the floor. Hu'er's door is wide open so she could see him working with it.

That powder is something they need to hide a female's smell from a beastman when in heat. The balm and cream that they made are continuously improved by Ke Rin. Right now, Jiu Hu is making the powdered version. It smells like jasmine.

Hu'er could smell it even if she is in the opposite corner. It's not an irritating smell so it's fine for her to smell it.

Hu'er whispered, "Dada?" attracting his attention.

"Yes?" Jiu Hu lookup. He put down what he is working on. Jiu Hu went to her room.

Hu'er sat down on her fur blanket and hesitatingly asked, "Where's Daddy Jia Ting?"

Jiu Hu froze and didn't answer her. He pursed his lips and couldn't look at her directly. He looks guilty. "Is there any problem?" Hu'er looks at him, worried.

"I'm sorry," he muttered and looked at her.

She got confused by his sudden apology, "Why are you saying sorry? Did Daddy make a mistake?"

He sighed. "I—He went out with the traders, hunters, and patrols to trade some salt with Aquatic Tribes."

Still confused, she nodded, "That's great."

Going to Aquatic Tribe this early could let Jia Wei and her daughter avoid death. She's just worried about what her Daddy Jia Ting will do to the beastman named Si Han.

There is one thing she has never told them. It's her worries. Hu'er is afraid that there might be consequences for changing the fate of others.

She accidentally took the beastman that Ruan Qi likes. Saving her Daddies from getting killed. Now, it's saving two females' lives.

If her Daddy Jia Ting did something that would change the content far too much, she is afraid that there is a consequence for them to bear. It will be fine if they can bear it but what if they can't? What if it will take someone's life to pay for it?

"Did Daddy Jia Ting say what he will do?" Her eyes are full of worries. She is nervous.

He smiles and assures her, "He will just trade more salt and then trade it to other tribes near us. This will lessen the possibility of tribes going to the Aquatic Tribe. He won't do anything bad. He promised."

"Dada knows?" she asked which Jiu Hu confirmed.

After a while, Jiu Hu apologized again and finally got the strength to say, "We could have given you immediate justice but didn't do so…."

"Ah?" She was stunned. Hu'er didn't know what justice he was talking about.

Before she could even ask what he meant, he explained, "Jia Ting should be punished according to our rules, but we let him go."

She shook her head, "There is no need. He—."

Jiu Hu interrupted her, "It's needed. He is a beastman and should be aware that there will be punishment for nearly killing a female."

Hu'er's lips dropped. She didn't think that the situation had nearly become big. "He didn't… It's actually not his fault. He didn't know…"

"Even so, snapping in front of a female like that is punishable by the tribe." It is indeed true. Hu'er remembered what the Old Lady had told her.

A beastman snapping at a female like how Jia Ting did could put him in seclusion for fifty days in the dark with only one food a day. A beastman shouldn't and mustn't show his fangs in a threatening manner to a female.

Nearly killing a female could put him to death in the worst scenario but if the female let him go, he would still be thrown out of the tribe.

"Did you tell the Tribe leader?" Hu'er immediately asked.

Jiu Hu was stunned. "...Not yet, but we will as soon as he comes back."

Back when Hu'er regained consciousness, Jiu Hu stayed with her until she fell asleep. Then, let Jiu Lin and Ke Rin stay by her side to watch her sleep, making sure nothing will happen.

He then beat Jia Ting up. At first Jia Ting fought and defended himself but soon Jiu Hu punched and kicked him. Jiu Hu saw that he finally pulled out his emotions and asked him what happened. That's when he knew and understood why Jia Ting did that and lost control.

He is guilty of not punishing Jia Ting but also wanted to help and avoid what should be avoided. So they planned something and made sure that Jia Ting understood why Hu'er chose not to say the names of those who directly caused the death of his Aunt and cousin.

Hu'er got an idea, "There's no need. Just let Daddy Jia Ting take care of and protect my future cubs." Jiu Hu was about to say they could just do that but Hu'er didn't let him say it. "I would get cubs sooner or later. I don't think I can be good at taking care of such fragile beings. I don't think I could. Giving him the cubs while I rest and everyone is busy working seems to be a good idea. Yeah?"

Jiu Hu relented, "Okay, but if he did that again he should be punished."

Hu'er chuckles, "Would he? I don't think so."

Jiu Hu smiles, "Just in case you let him scotch free again."

"I won't. By the way, can Dada tell me what Daddy Jia Ting's relationship with Jia Wei is?" Hu'er is really curious about it.

Jia Ting being close to Jia Wei should be the reason for him to get angry like that. But to the point of threatening her like that is a bit off. There should be something else that made him do that to her.

Jiu Hu thought about it before nodding, "I think I could… You have the right to know."

"Why did Daddy react like that?"
