The call

"Hello Angel are you there …. Angel?" Said Alex in a questioning tone, as I was wondering through the thick trees in the forest. I was searching for a good branch to sit on. Every branch that I found was either too small or had a bird's nest on them.

"Hello Alex" I replied quickly after realizing I didn't answer to Alex when I picked up the phone. I also realized I didn't really need a branch to sit on, because I can float.

"I missed playing with you today," said Alex. He sounded a bit sad as he said those words. It reminded me of my first day of school before dad died. I could just imagine what his face looked like.

"Hmmm, I missed you too Alex," I replied, sitting on a nice branch that I found for no reason. He probably felt as lonely as I did today. Wait, I need to think random thoughts and very happy thoughts. Dad is alive now and I still find floating weird even after all these years.

"James didn't seem to miss me at all, he said he had so much fun at school today," I'm a bit surprised that Alex missed me and James. I missed him because I can only talk to him or James but doesn't he have siblings at his new school?

"How was your first day at your new school? Did you have fun with you siblings?" I tried to change the subject to not talk about my dad. I was also wondering why Alex misses us so much. But after thinking about what I just asked, I realized how stupid of a question it was. Alex must feel lonely for a reason. I don't know, but a part of me wanted to laugh at how lonely he was feeling. Another part of me realized that I need him as much as he needed me right now.

"I don't think Elliot and Elli like me!" Shouted Alex in a sad sounding voice. He's probably still at that age where he thinks the whole world revolves around him. I still listened to what he had to say and I asked him a question.

"Who is Elliot and Elli?" I have never heard those names before. It's a bit surprising how many things I don't now about Alex. I used to call him uncle and didn't even know he had siblings. Is that why it was so easy for him to disappear off the face of the earth when dad died.

"Hmm," they are probably his older siblings that I have heard so little about.

"They are my half twin siblings that are around the same age as me."

Said Alex in a all knowing voice.

"What's a half sibling?" I asked Alex confused how he has half a sibling. Is it like cutting a cake in half and having two pieces of cake? There are still so many things that I don't know.

"I don't know what a half sibling is too." Answered Alex as confused as I was.

"Why don't your half siblings like you?" I asked trying to end the awkward silence after Alex's answer.

"I don't know why they don't like me, I'm such a great amazing person." Replied Alex with confidence. Yes Alex, you are so great that you can disappear when needed.

"Why do you think they don't like you Alex?" If Alex is as amazing as he says he is why do his siblings not like him.

"hmm, well today at school they were saying mean things to me, and everyone was staying away from me. When I sat down next to a random boy at lunch time he changed seats after giving me the dirtiest look I have ever seen. When I was walking to my car, Elliot tripped me and I fell on the floor. He didn't say sorry and even laughed at me." Said Alex in a loud and shaky voice. I already don't like this Elliot guy.

"Then Elliot picked up the phone and said hello dad and walked away into his car." It was hard to hear the last few things Alex said because he was crying.

"Dad never calls me!" Alex shouted while crying. I waited a while listening to the sound of Alex's cry.

"I can call you after school if you want Alex." I said after Alex stopped crying out loud. I can't let him disappear again and I need someone to talk to. I also still haven't slapped him as payback yet so I really can't let him vanish.

"Really?" Asked Alex in a soft voice.

"Yes, Alex every day I will call you after you're done school. I was thinking that I would only have to do this for a week or two as I came up with the idea. What time do you ended school anyway?" I do want to talk to Alex but not everyday.

"I finish school at 4:00pm." Said Alex quickly he sounded so excited.

"Ok, I will call you every day at 4:15."

I spoke about other things with Alex for another couple of hours and only realized I lost track of time when I saw the sun go down. Dad probably is sleeping right now.

I was very tired so I slowly floated back to the orphanage. The trees all looked similar, so it was hard to trace my way back to the orphanage. I entered the orphanage through a window leading directly into the boys room. My dad was already sleeping when I entered the room, so I went to sleep too. As soon as my head hit the bed I feel asleep.

The next morning I woke up to dad poking my face.

"Where were you yesterday Angel?" Questioned dad with tired questioning look in his big eyes.

"I was talking to Alex on his phone," I replied confused because I just woke up.

"For hours?" Said James with an funny questioning look on his face.

"Haha, yes hours James," I couldn't hold in my laugh for even a second.

"How do you talk that much?" Asked dad like it was something impossible.

"Well if you're talking about something fun, you can talk for a long time" I replied with a big smile on my face.

"So does that mean that Alex did not find our call fun?" Asked dad, he seemed a bit sad as he asked the question. His eyebrows were scrunched up together and his mouth looked scrunched up too.

"Who are you talking to James?" Asked John, one of the twins. He looked really scared and was looking around the room with a terrified look in his eyes.

"I was talking to my friend" replied dad with a serious look on his face. I quickly pulled out dads phone and put it in his hand.

"Tell him you were talking to your friend on your phone" John looked even more terrified.

"I was talking to my friend on my phone." Said dad in a calm voice, John ran out of the room even more terrified. He ran out so fast that we didn't have anytime to react, but why did he run away?

I looked at dad for answers but he seemed as confused as I was.

Dad quickly got ready and left for school. I was not that excited because I knew today would be another lonely day. It's weird that I could feel lonely when I have dad right by my side. I'm not alone so how can I feel lonely? I wanted to ask someone that question but I had no one to ask.

Dad played with Garry just like he did yesterday not noticing how lonely I felt. I could still remember when he used to follow me everywhere when he was little. Is this why dad didn't want me to go to school?

Time passed by so slowly that it almost felt like I was stuck at that school for years. I had so much time to think that it feel like I was having hour long conversations with myself. I was thinking about Alex's offer of going to school with him next week. I didn't want to abandon dad like that so I didn't say yes.

The school bell rung and dad started to pack his bags, when we got into the school bus I realized dad was crying.

"Who hurt my dad?!" I pushed the call with Alex to the back of my mind as I said those words.

Hello sorry for the long wait again.
