Chapter 2. A challenge.

Ava was seriously considering taking another subject if her Professor didn't start making sense with her lectures on essays. Thankfully the bell rang for the end of the day early.

She sighed with happiness as she ran out to meet one of her sisters, Ariel Grayson, as she came out with a book in hand. Her long brown hair was held in a loose braid and her brown eyes sparkled with laughter.

Ariel had a satisfied smile on her face as she came up and hugged her,"How was Literature?"

Ava shrugged as she released her, "It could have gone better."

Ariel frowned,"Was it the lesson or the Professor?"

"The Professor. I swear that lady has no idea about anything to do with Argumentative essays,"Ava answered as she threw her hands up with frustration.

Ariel simply chuckled and hooked her arm through her sister's before dragging her away from the doors of their classrooms. Everyone in the Institute were moving around, finding their sisters before going to their Domicile. Just another average day in the Dame Realm.

" Come on ,we promised Bellona we'd make it to her fight against Esmeralda,"Ariel said as they ran down the stairs leading to the Arena. The place was getting crowded but they knew front seats would be available for them, they were her sisters.

"Did she really have to challenge her? Everyone knows Bellona is the best fighter in the entire realm, that is the whole reason why she'll be named next General of the Army," Ava ask as they walked down the Arena steps to the front row. Sisters from first to final year were moving here and there getting their seats.

This fight was suppose to be epic.

Ariel shrugged," Yes it's true but you know Esmeralda, she's been against Bellona since the moment they've met."

They finally took their seats as a cool summer breeze blew through the Arena, "Seriously ,what does she hope to prove?"

An annoying voice spoke up from behind them,"That she deserved the General title and not Bellona."

Another equally annoying voice joined in,"Definitely, Bellona was picked probably due to favouritism."

Ariel and Ava turned to see Jessie Faraday, Frankie Luna, Lyra Orsric and Daphne Regan smirk at the two of them. These girls were Esmeralda's sister and they were the worst example of girls gone dolly. Seriously?! They were all blonde and had brown eyes, freaking clones of each other.

Ariel's eyebrow twitched,"Favouritism? Really Jessie? That is the best you can come up with."

"How else would Bellona would have gotten her title?" Lyra asked haughtly.

"Pure talent." A cool voice spoke up from behind Ava.

She smiled as they all turned to see Rodna Grace, Reina Luke and Zachleya Ericson, their other sisters, saunter to them.

"And skill. Anyone with half a brain can see that she's the best," Reina added as they took their seats next to Ariel and Ava.

Honestly, Ava loved her sisters, especially when it came down to them standing up for each other.

"Whatever," Daphne shot back to them as they all turned to the front with smirks.

Best sisters ever!

Suddenly a horn was blown to signal the arrival of the Coterie.

The five Head leaders of the Realm. They were in charge of everything.

First was Amelia, the First Head leader of the Coterie, she was in charge of the laws . Second, Sethandra, she oversaw their learning. Third, Fay, in charge of healing and life. Fourth, Tatiana, defence was her turf. She was responsible for training the new soldiers, she was the one that selected Bellona to be next General. Finally, Quin, she was left with the task of their knowledge and weapons building. She was also the keeper of the Great Library, which is off limits to everyone.

They were in their middle ages but always wore hoods so as to never show their faces to everyone. No one really knew how they looked like. You could only tell them apart due to the different colored robes that they wore everyday. Amelia wore red, Sethandra wore Aqua blue, Fay wore pink, Tatiana wore green and Quin wore bright yellow.

The Coterie had by then entered the Arena so everyone all stood quietly to welcome them. It was protocol.

As Ava stood ,she couldn't help but sneak glances at her sisters who all wore solemn faces to disguise their excitement for Bellona's battle.

Rodna had sky blue eyes and long dirty blonde hair that she never tied unless she wanted to read or sleep. To her left was Reina, the hardheaded sister who had light blue eyes and spikey light blonde hair that she wore in a ponytail.

Zachleya stood beside Ariel, she had short brown hair and her hazel brown eyes sparkled with amusement. They were all dressed in white track suits, the standard uniform of the institute.

"We are here to witness the challenge match between Bellona and Esmeralda, this match will further solidify our decision for the title next General. Fighters, step forward."

Everyone in the Arena turned to see two girls in silver Una armours walk into the Arena from the enterance.

Una armour was like a tecno armour that moulded perfectly to a female's body, giving her access to any weapon she wanted. Swords, knives, guns and everything.

Every girl in the city had one, it would morph down to a bracelet on their wrist when they didn't need to fight so it would always be with them.

They came in different colors depending in your position in the Realm. High ranking officers wore Black, simple soldiers wore silver, citizens wore light blue and the Coterie wore Gold.

Bellona and Esmeralda took their place in front of the Coterie. Bellona was tall, she had long ash black hair that was braided and her violet eyes were focused ahead.

She looked ready for battle.

"Take your positions, may the best warrior win."

With that the Coterie took their seats, allowing everyone to be seated. Bellona and Esmeralda turned to face each other .

Immediately, swords appeared in their hands as they took their stances. Due to this being a Challenge Match, only swords were allowed.

They all held their breaths as Amelia raised her hand,"Fight!"

Esmeralda let out a war cry as she swung her sword first. Big mistake on her part as Bellona bloke it and kicked her leg.

Esmeralda stumbled as Bellona swung her sword again making her stumble to her left to avoid her.

This fight was going to be a piece of cake for Bellona.
