Chapter 121 - Slim Possibility

As I waited for my driver, I texted Noemi and Rachel to see when they would be free to eat and chat. Though I was not exactly having any trauma from the incident, I felt wary going in to a restaurant to eat so I positioned my place to talk. It was ideal as it limits unwanted ears listening in but also comforts my anxiety. 

Thankfully, both were free to come over tonight for dinner.

I informed my parents of my guests and went home to plan out my thoughts. The last time we had a long conversation was during the bachelorette party. The days that followed were busy as Rachel was getting ready for her honeymoon while Noemi was attending to her husbands family who flew in to visit. So us talking became limited to just texts in our group chat. 

It was a full house at home with both sides of my family home. I could not recall the last time we were all together. Of course the circumstances surrounding why this was is less than ideal but nonetheless it was refreshing to come home to a crowded house. 

Being an only child often meant only hearing my parents and no other noise. 

I asked the chefs to prepare a separate dinner for me to eat with my friends in my room so we could talk freely. Thankfully my parents and grandparents already ate dinner by the time I arrived since they knew I was having friends over. 

Just when dinner was about done, the girls arrived. "Celeste how are you doing!" Noemi came running in and hugged me with such incredible strength. Rachel soon joined in after though she had the mind to not jump me since Noemi just about knocked me over. 

"It is so good to see you guys. Lets get settled we have much to discuss." Once we got into my room and began eating, I shared just about nearly everything that had happened since the wedding. Before they arrived I contemplated telling them about Dean and I but, even though I trusted them, I figured I would keep that part out of the story until we had a breakthrough with the rules and taboos.

Due to all the drama that has happened, I did not have much time to see if anything on my end had a loophole that we could use. However, since my grandparents were here, I would take advantage and see if I could gain any insight through them. 

After giving them the edited news, they were just as appalled as I was. "Just who does he think he is? Sure he may have money but that does not mean that he can throw away charm and class. Ugh I am so glad that he did not work out." Noemi as always was the first to voice her opinion. And thankfully she was on the same page as I was.

"But are you ok? I remember the last time you had a reaction it was so awful." Rachel squeezed my shoulder, worried about my physical health. 

"Thankfully I am doing well. If not for the men in my life I don't know what would have happened to me." I even felt a bit itchy thinking back on what had happened. Because my allergy is not super common and easily avoidable, growing up I thought I would never have to experience a reaction. But I learned the hard way that I should not have take my allergy so lightly. 

"So for that woman. What happens now? Sure that guy said he will take care of it but I doubt it just ends like that. Right?" However based on the silence, she realized that it would in fact end just like that.

"I don't know the full details but according to my dad as well as the legal team, it just means that our hands are clean of whatever happens with her." I wanted to see fully the process but my parents insisted that it was not necessary and the more I went into the weeds with it, the less it will make sense. 

"However, until she is actually gone and we see just how far her roots extend, I will have someone keep an eye out for my safety. Just incase she tries anything last minute or if her family attempts anything."

Her parents were saddened upon hearing the news of their daughter and according to my dad, they have reached out to ask for mercy but he just let them know it is out of his hands as she will be tried in a different country for her crimes. 

Essentially placing the blame on Dante and his family instead. Though it sucked that his family will take any brunt of whatever force her family wishes to enforce, it all really started with him so by that merit, it will also end with him. 

"So yeah that has been my week but now that you guys know that I am ok what has been new with you guys?"

Noemi, who had taken a few bites of food, stopped to say her piece first. "You would not believe what has happened in my husbands side of his family. So my man has a younger brother named Kane and he is some big shot movie person in Taiwan. So basically, this D-list actress has been dating him for some time but my in-laws would not approve of her essentially blacklisting her from the family."

"According to them it was nothing personal on her but rather a fortune teller said overall her character and future was not ideal for the family and she was a bad omen. However, the girl would not stand down and when we went to visit, she came in and claimed she was pregnant."

It was clear where the story was heading. It was not uncommon to have people get pregnant to force a wedding in place. Particularly as many of the older generation would not miss the chance to have an heir in place. 

"Here is the crazy part, so my mother in law said she did not care if she had a child, they would not recognize the child into the family. So she gave her youngest son a choice, stay in the family or marry the girl and raise the child. He could not have both."

That had me surprised. Noemi's husband was a conservative man much like his family. I was shocked they would cast him out like that rather than bring them in.

"Kane decided to stay but the girl got so angry that even with the child she could not be recognized into the family that she broke up with Kane in that very moment. She cared more about the status and not about Kane that she lied about being pregnant and was hoping to force their hand not expecting it to backfire on her."

"Wow if that happened to my younger sister my parent's would just bring the guy in regardless. I am so shocked they even considered kicking him out."

I began to wonder about the same thing. Would my parents kick me out if I had a child out of wed lock? Not that I could but if by some slim possibility I did get pregnant prior to marriage what would they think?
