BEYOND THE LIVING

Have you ever wondered what is beyond what we know What we see? What we feel? Have you ever wondered what is BEYOND THE LIVING!!!! ... The Lord looked at the cloaked creature with his hands in his pocket. "Have you ever wondered why your heart doesn't beat?" The creature asked. "We're not normal are we?" Lucas interrupted. The creature chuckled. Its bony body creaked loudly as its body shook. "Normal?...... You are far from normal, you three are not even supposed to exist" The creature. "That's one way to put it.?" Lucas said, evidently offended by what the creature said about him and his siblings. "So are you among the many who want us dead?" Lord Nicholas asked. "Dead?" The creature asked confused. "How can you kill what is already dead, at least partially." The creature moved its boney hand over the Lord's face to reveal the bones that hid beneath. Lord Nicholas looked at half of his body that was made with bones. "This is your true form." "Is this how I'll appear forever?" The Lord asked. Going out like this would cause an uproar which he wasn't looking forward to. "No. You could change to your human form. You just have to concentrate." The Lord stared at his boney hand in concentration to see layers of muscles and skin form. "What's your name?" Lucas asked. The bones on the face of the creature moved in a certain way that made Lucas assume the creature was smirking. "That isn't needed now." It said before vanishing, leaving a thin layer of green smoke.

Massacre

The clouds were dark indicating the approach of a storm. The clouds rumbled occasionally because if the friction from their contact. Some houses were burning as people screamed and ran for their lives. It was ironic that it was about to rain yet people were being burnt alive.

A woman held in a tight embrace a small baby as she ran. She had been able to escape from the werewolves with the help of her husband who had lost his life.

She was from a brunch family of the royal family of Hansonia. Because of the love she had for a human she had left her family and had come to stay with him. Everything was going alright, that was until the village she stayed in with her husband was raided by werewolves.

Her husband helped her escape, which cost him his life. It was really unfortunate that all this happened just when their daughter was a year old. Though she had escaped she didn't get away without any injury. She had an arrow in her chest yet she had to keep running if she wanted her child to live.

Her legs slipped occasionally because of the loose soil beneath her feet, she continued to run till her feet hurt, yet she kept running despite the pain from her feet.

Her dear husband. Who loved her despite the hate his kind had for her race. The humans despised Hansonians because they had magic and also had very long life when compared to the them.

Without all those features the Hansonians were just normal human beings. Hansonians were once human beings after all.

Because of this, she had to hide her magic from the people in the village. If only she used her elemental abilities she would have been able to reduce the number of deaths. But her husband had prohibited her from doing that because he feared the consequences of her actions. Even if she was to save the villagers using her abilities, they in turn would tie her to a pole and burn her alive.

Humans were irrational beings who usually acted on impulse. They would set her to flames before even thinking about it.

The woman ran with the baby in her embrace until she reached another town. She could have stood but she dared not stop. Not now when they were still close.

...

A man with black hair walked among the crowd of people with a four-year-old boy who appeared to be his son. The small boy shared the same features as his father. Black hair, blue eyes raised cheek bone.

People who spotted them and knew who they were bowed down their heads in respect to the lord of the land. The very people who would set him aflame if they were to know what he was.

He was taking his oldest son with him just for a walk, but who knew this little walk of theirs would change their fate.

His sharp ears could hear the faint breathing of someone and the cry of a baby.

Using his abilities here would be catastrophic so he went with his son to a dark alley where very few dared to pass.

"Hop on my back, son."He told his son who raised a brow before shaking his head. He was a little too old for piggybacks. He could also hear the faint sound of someone's breath and the cry of a child which was quite impressive for a boy of four.

He crouched into position in readiness to leap, but his father held his shoulder. He couldn't be more proud of his son. With his hand, he ruffled his son's hair. And leaped forward to where the sound was emanating from.

The Lord of Riverdale stared at the woman who lay on the floor with a child in her hand. Her eyes were closed but he knew she wasn't dead because he could still hear the beating of her heart. The little boy looked up to his father. The rate at which the woman's heart was beating was decreasing and even he knew she would die soon.

When the lord took a step forward the woman's eyes snapped open. Her eyes were filled with killing intent. She had an arrow through her yet she still stood up and attacked the lord. The lord fell a few feet away when a strong gush of wind propelled him backwards.

A Hansonian! He knew them very well and they were creatures who didn't wander too far from their kingdom. Which was why he was surprised to see one in the middle of Riverdale.

The killing intent in the woman's eyes disappeared and she fell on her knees. She spat blood from her mouth yet she still looked strong and ready to fight if needed. The rage of a mother knew no bounds when the safety of her child was being threatened.

"Come down. I won't hurt you or your child. I'm Aiden, the lord of Riverdale." He explained and the woman's shoulders relaxed. She knew him. He was a good man too. She could give him her child to take care of.

The woman tried to speak but the lord didn't let her.

"Shush, conserve your energy."He told her but the woman shook her head. She knew she would die soon and needed him to take care of her Child for her. She pushed the child into the little boy's hand.

" Please take care her for me... s-she is a Hansonian r... "The woman breathed her last before she could finish her sentence. The small boy looked as his father, as his father bent down and closed the eyes of the woman.

" What's her name, dad?" his son asked him. The Lord knew his son was mature than he was supposed to, so he gave his son the chance to name her.

"Give her a name of your choice."The boy who went by the name Nicholas stared at the baby's face. She looked cute with the little number of teeth's in her mouth. The boy thought for a while before he decided on a name for her.

" Luna, I'll call her Luna." He concluded. His father hummed in satisfaction. That was a good name. Though he wondered why his son gave her that name he didn't have the time to ask him. They had to find a place to bury the woman and get a Hansonian family close.

Luckily he knew the perfect hansonian couple he could give the child to. They dug a hole and buried the woman there. Using his claws the Lord carved a symbol on a rock that would serve as a reminder to them.

Then they went to a young couple who were Hansonians under the cover of being humans. The couples were at first startled when the Lord asked them to take care of the child. But after a lot of thinking they agreed. It wasn't like they had to pay for anything. The Lord gave them enough money to pay for everything they would need

Time flew by quickly and it was soon Luna's fourth birthday. The lord and his son Nicholas had come to visit her as usual. Because the lord didn't know Luna's actual birthday he just used the day they found her as her birthday

A servant of the Lord carried a box in his hand.

"Lucas, Gina, and their mom got you this," The Lord told the excited birthday girl.

Lucas was the second son of the lord while Gina was the third and last child of the lord. They had been frequently visited Luna and her parents. Luna was not told the truth about her real mother for her own safety.

Luna excitedly opened her box and she found a pretty dress. It was black and little diamonds decorated the neckline of the dress. The base of the dress was also decorated with diamonds. But something was wrong with the dress.

" How would the dress fit me? It looks like it's for aunt." Luna exclaimed. The Lord smiled at her.

"It's yours but you are not allowed to wear it until you are old enough to wear it.." The Lord told the little for who gave him a nod.

Now it was time to take her gift from her best friend.

"Nicholas, where is my birthday gift?"Luna asks blinking cutely at him.

" What did you get me for my birthday?" Nicholas asked, raising his brow

"I made you a scarf" Luna argued. She had started learning how to knit a year ago.

Nicholas remembered the scarf she made for him. It was in a glass in his room right now because he feared it would get torn if it was mishandled.

"I don't want that anymore. I want something else."Nicholas said.

Luna looked thoughtful before her eyes lit up," Okay how about I give you me?" Everyone except the lord and his son gasped. The girl said what she said with utter innocence but people around didn't know it.

Nicholas had a smirk on his face, "Promise?" he asked and before anyone could do anything the little Luna nodded like a rattle.

He handed her the small music box that had a dancing ballerina in it.

"Take this."
