Chapter 14

Cassandra’s POV

A couple of days passed in silence as I was waiting for a sign from Arthur , but all I could hear was his whispers , all I could see was his shadow watching me from afar , and with every step I took towards him he would take more backwards . It felt like a game of cat and mouse that never ended , I wanted to know more about him , about our family, and the most important detail of it all , why was he tricking me into thinking that my parents might still be alive? That would be impossible, right?

‘’ You know Cass , with all that extra thinking you are eventually going to fry your brain.’’ Laughed Irene.

‘’ Not funny.’’ I smiled trying to hide my laugh.

As I began to lose my train of thought I could hear my name being called in the woods again. ‘’ cassandraa…cass….come’’ it kept saying over and over again , a never ending anthem that I could hear day in and day out.

I decided to let it taunt me no more and took a walk into the woods by myself. As I took more steps on the dark grass I could feel little droplets of water touching my skin, brushing my hair to the side as I let the wind brush against my skin. Closing my eyes I let the voice guide me deeper into the woods , suddenly hitting those metal bar from an old entrance. As I opened my eyes I could finally see this big garden with wilted trees and flowers and in the fog , there it was , an old castle that looked half burned to the ground. As I took a step between the gates , once again a new portal opened throwing me into the past . Everything was black and white and I could pass by people without getting noticed. People were talking in the garden enjoying a lovely picnic together , it seemed like their were my ancestors , the closer I got to the building more and more actions started happening by my side , it was almost like a time loop and with every step I took it moved the clock a couple days maybe years. Once I reached the castle’s door it started to rain and everything has gotten sadder , looks of concern everywhere . I could see they were talking about something serios that would happen to them.

I noticed that in the living room time was kind of lingering by , painting falling in slow-motion from the walls , plates and glasses shattering from the table slowly as I could see people starting to run away from the room.

I decided to go up the stairs slowly going into the tower. With every step I climbed I could see the commotion happening outside , people screaming , yelling for mercy, they were all tied up and burned just like in the books . Their remains were soon taken somewhere else but I could no longer see the images through the windows. All of a sudden I could hear them.

‘’ LOOK ! ANOTHER CROMWELL!’’ someone yelled.

‘’ GRAB GER SHE MUST BURN WITH THE OTHERS !’’

All I could to was run faster until I reached the tower’s door. I kicked open and tried locking it behind me . They were knocking continuously as I kept yelling for them to stop , but once I opened my eyes I was back into our reality. The tower was barely standing but I was all the way up in it even though there were no stairs behind me to climb down.

I gasped for air as my chest started to burn up , it hurt to see my family , what has happened to them , why me ? why us?

‘’ Cass , how the hell did you get all the way over here? Up there ?’’ asked Will from afar.

‘’ How did you find me?’’

‘’ We are mates , remember?’’ he laughs.’’ So , are you planning on getting down from there or should we make some renovations and move in ?’’

‘’ not funny..’’ I whispered jumping from the building towards him. ‘’ This used to be the Cromwell’s castle I think , I just happened to jump into a time portal of some sort and witness some history. I think the fairies are trying to play mind games with me since they have lost some ground .’’

‘’ Don’t let it get to you , you know Bane said we must control ourselves because they want us to go crazy.’’ Will explained hugging me.

‘’ I don’t get it! A couple of months ago I was just a normal teenager and now , I am fighting not only for my life but for the freedom of others!’’ I yelled at the top of my lungs.

‘’ I know….’’

I leaned in and kissed him as he wrapped his arms around my waist. The kiss was lingering and it almost felt like neither of us was wiling to let go any time soon. His arms tightened around me as my entire body leaned into his even more as if we were melting into one another becoming just one pure of love , content and desire. My hands traveled on his body like I was traveling in search for a mystery. The tension grew bigger and bigger and I could feel a fire starting between us.

‘’ Will , we should stop….’’

‘’ I apologize’’ he whispered.

‘’ it’s alright , I um…. I’m not ready for that kind of stuff yet.’’ I explain.

‘’ I know , it was rude of me , I should have stopped. I’m sorry Cass.’’

‘’ We were both kind of into it don’t you think?’’ I laugh.

‘’ Well..’’ he laughs too as he rubs the back of his head. I lean in and give him a kiss on the nose as I start running into the other direction making sure he wasn’t far behind. We start running into the woods like small children as the sun was hitting our skin every so often between the branches of the bloomed trees. The further we went into the woods the harder it was to see the sun shining on the sky. As I took another step a portal opens and closes with me inside it.

‘’ OH FUDGE! Leave me alone!’’ I scream knowing that fairies were playing games with me. Will was still on the other side , probably stunned to watch me vanish once again. It was the usual for us nowadays.

‘’ You should learn some manners future Luna.’’ a voice creaks from the darkened trees. Wait …. I know that voice. I took a step back to stunned to speak once I saw who I was talking to. ‘’ Oh don’t look so baffled .. it’s just me.’’ She laughs maniacally.

‘’ But… we.. I mean my parents killed you.’’

‘’ They did try , but I am something else after all , you can’t kill me that easily.’’ She mumbles getting closer to me.

‘’ Haven’t you had enough already?’’

‘’ Oh my dear child , it’s just the beginning and you shall be begging me for mercy as your blood will stain eventually this forest. It will be your screams last to be heard.’’ She smiles at it maniacally.

‘’ What makes you think you shall win? I made you vanish already .’’

‘’ But here I am , Faune in flash and bones.!’’ Hearing her name out loud gave me chills , she should have been dead long ago. As she was getting closer I remembered that sometimes the water is the mirror to those portals and so I started running towards the lake of this dimension .

Her steps got closer and closer to mine but I decided not to shift , not yet, I was sure it was anther trap of the fairies.

‘’ You can run but can not hide!’’ she starts screaming repeatedly.

Once my shoe touched the lakes marginals I was back in the forest where Will was looking for me , Jasper and Malik were helping him track me down easier as Irene brought her books trying to figure out those portals.

‘’ Guys.. I’m fine.’’ I smile from behind them.

‘’ What happened?’’ asked Irene jumping to hug me.

‘’ Faune…she is not dead.. I think she wanted to either chat or kill me so I tried to escape the portal . I guess Banes tales with the portals has helped figure out how to escape at least some of them. I am not sure what she is looking for but from what I can tell she is planning to kill me sooner or later.’’ I explain walking towards them. As I was walking behind the guys I noticed a red thread wrapped around my hand. I didn’t see it before , the moment I pulled at it started wrapping itself stronger on me growing bigger and bigger as is scattered over my entire body . I drop to the floor as I could hear Faune’s voice wailing in my ear not being able to do anything . They start trying to rip the thread apart but the more they pulled the tighter it got. I almost fainted if Irene wouldn’t have found a way to save me. With the help of her healing crystal she was able to break the thread as it stopped moving on me now laying on the ground in the shape of the word ‘’death’’.

‘’ She is one messy bitch I can tell you that. She is messing with us big time.’’ Tells Irene as she hands me a bottled potion for quick healing.

‘’ Well she really wants me dead but also wants to torture me I guess. I need to find a way so stay away from her as much as possible until we can figure what we can do about her.’’

‘’ Okay so it is pretty simple for now , I need to finish my training as soon as possible and please Irene make a stronger spell so she won’t be able to track me down anytime soon , or at least we can build our army better.’’ I suggest walking away from them.

‘’ Where are you going?’’

‘’ I have some unfinished business with my lovely cousin that I think I should take care of. And no do not try to stop me or stay in my way please.’’ I never felt more angry in my life though I wasn’t sure it was my cousins plan I had to have a word with me , man to woman. I know that the war was inevitable but regarding that I was willing to make a pact that there will be no more killings until then . I can’t afford to lose anyone in my pack nor do they. As I was getting closer to his apartment building I could feel a sense that something was going to happen . Once I could feel the danger is was already too late. Four wolves were coming my way with shielded gloves as they were carrying a thick layer of silver getting ready to lunge at me.

I started running as fast as I could but being in the public eye I could not just simply shift into my own wolf so I keep taking different corners trying to lose them in the darkness and the fog of the night. My scent didn’t make it easier since they could make out pretty easily where I was heading towards.

Unfortunately for me later on the run I took a pretty hard fall leaving them enough time to catch up to me, all I could was wince in pain as the silver touched my skin.

‘’ Looks like we have a pretty big catch my guys!’’ one of them smirks at me as they laugh together.
