29 Fighting a horde (II)

Just as General Anglius was pondering the type of person a little cat capable of killing dozens of demons would call Boss, he heard a faint blast and turned his attention toward the horde of monsters.

The commotion was caused by a young man landing atop a demon. It was a massive bear-like demon the size of a large truck, yet the man cash obliterated it on impact. Not even a second later, he swiftly brandished two white swords and sliced through the monsters surrounding him.

The sight of a young man in white armor hacking the wall not only attracted the attention of the soldiers on top of it but also that of the demons rising through it.

Immediately, the demons that were trying to climb the wall turned their focus to the young man and charged toward this one with maniacal rage and killing intent.

The young man saw how the demons began to converge on him but did not falter. Instead, he surged forward, dispatching all the monsters in his path. His constant motion prevented the horde from surrounding him, and each strike of his sword was executed with precision, claiming the lives of demons.

General Anglius and the soldiers on the wall watched in shock and awe as the young man embarked on a frantic killing spree, deftly avoiding encirclement and methodically reducing the number of demons. His strength and speed were not the only amazing ones; his martial skills were also simply outstanding.

Despite the young man's evident prowess, the sheer number of nearly one hundred demons eventually cornered him, halting his relentless assault. Once they surrounded the young man, the demons lunged ferociously at him.

At that moment, the young man's body burst with strength, unleashing a wave of white Force that enveloped his weapons and sent the demons flying.

It was only at this point that the soldiers in the wall came to the realization that the young man had only been relying on his physical strength so far, not using his Force.

The young man's killing speed, already impressive, now became simply staggering. Each swing of his swords vanquished at least three demons, his velocity too great for the creatures to match.

After a few intense minutes, silence fell upon the mountain's base, with only the young man standing, swords in hand, amidst a mound of demonic corpses. Despite appearing exhausted, with cuts across his body, his formidable presence elicited pure awe from the soldiers observing from the wall.

Naturally, the young man and the cat were none other than Vlad and Jormungandr. They had observed the horde ascending the mountain. While they could have intervened sooner, facing the full force of the horde alone would have posed a significant challenge, though not impossible. However, they had a different objective.

They aimed to secure their place in the Silent Wind Military Base, so they acted when things seemed most desperate. This strategy allowed them to conserve their strength and confront a weakened horde, reducing the danger.

But that was not all. Vlad also had to assess the caliber of those he would be joining, and the general atop the wall proved to be a pleasant surprise.

Vlad remained composed as a torrent of Origin Force surged into his Soul Dimension. He immediately focused on the bright golden energy, directing it into his body, bloodline, and Sea of Consciousness.

Vlad's Sea of Consciousness played a crucial role during this fight. Facing multiple enemies was not easy, and his rapid thought processes and profound wisdom enabled him to do so.

Once finished, Vlad felt a wave of relaxation. The enhancements to his body and mind alleviated the fatigue from the battle. Although it might have seemed easy, facing nearly one hundred demons was very hard, and it took all he had to win.

The next second, a smile appeared on his face as he saw the red orb in his Soul Dimension glowing with power and becoming more potent.

"At this pace, it won't be long before I can awaken a Bloodline Ability."

Bloodline Abilities were the essence of a bloodline for most races adhering to the Level System. Cultivating a bloodline was exceedingly complex, but Origin Force could accomplish anything.

Vlad wasted no time, instead shifting his gaze towards the top of the wall, his stare traversing hundreds of meters to meet General Anglius' eyes.

The middle-aged general could feel an invisible pressure from the young man standing on a mountain of demonic corpses, even from atop the wall.

The young lieutenant approached the general, bowing respectfully. He glanced at the small cat and clasped his hand before bowing. Although it was strange to bow to a cat, he was mindful of the lightning previously unleashed.

The small cat saved them, so he was very thankful, not to mention that it was always good to be polite with such a powerful entity.

"General, half of our soldiers are wounded, but none are in critical condition. What's our next move?"

Although the young lieutenant didn't verbalize it, his question implied a more profound concern: What now? In times of crisis, the military wielded significant authority, compelling civilians to comply with their commands. However, in this new world, dissent could lead to deadly outcomes.

The young man and the small cat possessed extraordinary power and would be valuable assets, but the question remained: would they submit to military command?
