first quest

Sera eyes was about to pop out from the socket as she saw her status.

Magic caster level 3

"EHHH? "She exclaimed as she saw that the only thing that she got for seven years of training hard secretly was this. She become a magic caster and she only achieve level three.

"You are a magic caster and a level three. I never met a magic caster that is level three. I only met some big shot adventurer from the capital." The lady said without a sense of mockery on her voice.

"I'll be back for a second" Perunia excuses herself to them. Sera nodded. Sera grab back her tag and tied it around her neck. Forest put his tag on the stone slab. However something was amiss.

"Huh? It seems that there is something wrong" Sera said as she look at Forest. The lady assisting them earlier was taking care of the quest giver at the moment. she was about to call her and forest put his hands on her shoulder to stop her.

"but we need to..." Forest shook his head and took the tag and put it on his neck.

"I have to know about it myself." he said to himself. Sera didn't bother him about it and turn her back to him. Sera manage not to think of it. Her thoughts can be linked to him anyway.

"I can't just trust her fully. I don't know why she appeared at my dream before waking up but, what if I got mistaken?" he look at her again. Sera wasn't paying attention to him so she wasn't able take a glimpse of how Forest stared at him for a moment.

"Let's go ask for the quest" he linked to her and she nodded.

"Ah!" Perunia face them. "Quest was it, this is new quest for copper plate adventurer." She gave them the quest information she look at it carefully. She was thankful that she was able to learn how to read and write from her father. She smiled as she saw how much was the rewards.

"Gathering Herbs at the east of the town. This kind of herbs is actually seen from the foot of Mt. Akina" Sera said to Forest.

"10 pcs is equivalent to 30 copper."

"Ms. Sera please take this with you. This vial is for mana replenishment, this is for healing. There is some unavoidable monsters in the way and you can't just go without preparations. If you ever encounter a goblin you can give to us its right ear for 15 coppers this actually depends on the size." She put the four vials for healing wounds and two vials for mana.

"Have a safe trip" she smiled and face the other quest giver.

Sera look at forest who was in her back. "Let's go and get some money" Forest nodded and smile.

"We should've rest first!" Sera exclaimed as she was having a hard time catching up with Forest who was ahead of her.

"How may did you got?" Sera shouted to him he raised his hands and show him one finger each hand. She frowned and look at her basket. She only got three herbs.

"It's so hard" she exclaimed and she look around in her place. Keeping her eyes on the ground and trying to focus her eyes on every plants she sees. they have been looking for the herbs for almost 2 hours and they only got thirteen in total.

"There is three goblins over there" Forest linked to her as she look at her. Her eyes glisten as she heard it.

Goblins they have humanoid form but smaller, greenish and tough skin. They have pointed and big ears, big pug like nose and some sharp teeth. They differ in sized depending to their class. Normal Goblins like the one in front of them right now was weaker than other Goblins. After goblins, there are Hobgoblins and others.

"Let's attack!" she said to him. Forest put his hands on his chin like he was thinking. He thought that it would be too risky for them.

"Come on. We need to have a good money so we can have a good outfit" She said that made forest nod.

"We have to get ourselves a good comfortable inn."

Sera went to him, her exhausted feeling vanished as it shifted to excitement. She wanted to try out her skills she was honing over these years. She wanted to know how good she is already. or maybe she need to train more.

"Let me take care of this goblins, if ever I mess up… take cover" Sera said to him as they approach the three goblins munching something on the ground. Sera took her wooded staff from his infinite pouch that she got from his deceased father.

she raise her staff and she flow her mana out of her body creating a energy out of it. Water was created and it formed into sphere and and later on she manipulated the water flow and managing to form it a blade which its edges has rapid moving water that can slice you up when it came contact to your skin.

She casted it silently as she aim it to the three goblins. The water blade strike went to the goblin that was closer to her. She aimed for the neck of the goblin and it went through it without flaw. It seems that the goblin she attack was just too weak to defense himself from the magic. one of them fell on the ground.

"AH!" She exhaled her breath she is holding as she casted her magic. She is not that good in holding and casting a magic. due to her ignorance to it.

The two other goblin went on offense. They ran towards her she casted after casting it she took the two goblin into the ball of the water that is supposed to be water splashed yet she wanted to try out something. She wanted to drown the two inside the water balloon and wait for them to die.

The two goblin was struggling to get air inside. Sera began to feel exhausted as she keep the water in a ball form. She just have low mana. It seems that her mana is spend more quickly when she try to maintain and manipulate the magic she cast.

" isn't that great." she said as she watched the goblins lost their last breath.

Until she lost her mana, the water balloon disperse and evaporated into the thin air. The drown goblins fell on the ground. Sera took the vial of mana and drank it. She feels her body regaining strength again.

"Thank you for making me take care of them. I wanted to know that my training is not as useless as I am right now" She said as she look at Forest that stand beside her.

Forest wave his hands in the air like it is not a big deal for him. Sera took out her dagger from her waist and went to the dead goblins' bodies.

"So we have 45 coppers and 30 coppers for the herbs let's look for more!" sera suggested and Forest agreed. It seems that Sera forgotten that they didn't even have the time to rest after taking the night out in the forest last night.

As they gathered more herb, a small mushroom puffed out some fumes at her and she was taken aback by the surprise attack.

"Damn sneaky mushroom" She cussed as she casted water slash. She took the mushroom head and put it on her pouch. She didn't know how much was it yet she thought that it may mean money.

"Forest. Get these whenever you encountered them. Watch out of their fumes, they can cause Vertigo" She yelled to him. her surroundings are ow dancing in front of her. Now what. she raised her staff to create a multiple water in her surroundings and throw it every where without targeting a certain target. She will just let those mushrooms to be wet so they can't puffed some fumes.

As she got two more of it on her way, this mushroom like monster, they are just weakling however, and their attack can slow you down and give you a vertigo. It last long when you inhaled their fumes. Panhiko is what they call to this monster.

After taking down some Panhikos that attacked them on their way they was able to go back on the Adventurer guild without any further delay.

"I want to go lay on a comfy bed. I'm tired." Sera said as they went back.

"67 coppers for the herbs and 45 coppers for each ears of the goblins and 25 coppers for the heads of the panhiko." Hilda took what they have brought in the adventurer guild. Hilda took care of the adventurers that just taken care of the quest given.

"Do you already have a place to stay in?" Hilda asked them out of nowhere.

"Uh, do you know a cheap place to stay in?" Sera replied as she gulped. 'Please say yes!' she said in her mind.

"We do, Adventurer guild do run a lounge for the Adventurers that came from other land. Since you are a member of us, there is a discount also, our meals serve in there is also as good as high class. It was as cheap as 50 coppers per night well, that is the full price, and if we applied the discount you will only pay 25 per night. Of course that is only applied to one person… unless you two slept together" Hilda look at them with something in her eyes.

"OH. I see…" Sera didn't notice the look of the eyes that Hilda gave to them.

"Thank you Miss. Hilda for that. May I know where it is?" Sera asked

"The lounge is just next to us. Would you want me to accompany you?" Hilda offered. Sera turn her offer down.

"Thank you for the thought. We can manage ourselves don't bother accompanying us. Miss. Hilda. Please tell Ms. Perunia, thank you for the earlier." Sera bowed and so Forest. They went out and went to the building next to them.

As they It was quiet, some men was sitting on the wooden chairs and having a meal. If the other building has a pub like appearance inside, here is a restaurant appearance. On the middle in front of them was a man in bulky body whose hair is combed back wearing a long-sleeved white collared shirt and wore pince-nez as he was reading a newspaper.

Sera approach him as she believe that the man runs the building.

"Excuse me" She politely intrude from what he is doing.

The man put down the newspaper and took of his pince-nez as he stare at her and his eyes went to her chest. As he saw the copper tag tied on it. He spoke.

"A new member? Two rooms or one?" he asked as he turned the page of the newspaper.

"Two rooms please." She immediately responded and laid the 50 copper on the table.

"What would you like to have for the meal?" he asked as he took the coppers.

"A stewed pheasant and a …"

'What do you want?' sera turn to Forest

"A grilled chicken and boiled potatoes…" Sera smiled and handed the tag to the guy. Forest did the same as the guy registered them using another magic circle imbedded on the stone slab.

"and a nice warm milk" she added and the man just nodded to them.

As the process ended. Sera and forest got their room numbers.

"Use your tags to open the doors of your rooms. If you are going to leave, don't forget to approach me and undo the magic casted right now in the rooms." He said to them in deep voice.

"Okay. About the meal, can we have it now?" Sera asked.

"If you want then wait for few minutes" he said and he called the woman wearing an apron near the door beside the counter.

After commanding her the woman led them to a table. They sat and waited for their meal to be serve.

"Hey, Forest… After we got the bronze plate, let head to the other town next here. Also, I want to see the whole world" Sera look at Forest who was sitting in front of her.

"Are you really sure that you needed my help?" She asked as she look at him. Forest just stared at her. His mind right now was in mess right now. If only Sera can get inside of his thoughts. She already saw that even he was not sure of what is he was doing also.

'You are a demon. Right? From what my Father use to tell me when I was a child, they live at the other side of the world. Is there another side.' She thought. Forest can't help but to hear her thought so loud.

'I can't remember my childhood too.' He relay to her. She gave a sigh as the meal they order came.

"Let's eat and worry does things later. I am tired and hungry. I bet you are too"

They dig in to their meals like they don't have time to go on slow. It was afternoon when they slept on their rooms and replenished their health and strength after having a busy day.
