it was beautiful and remember. believe me all the way into the horizon. the only things you could hear were the slight sounds of gunfire and the occasional screen which was normal for a driftwood City but in this particular instance, it was less than the usual amount. typically the entire city would be filled with screams and gunfire and the occasional fire, but it was calmer and more controlled sleeping outside the orphanage inside the park. butler was biting his time inside. Dutchess was having a meeting to discuss the future of the orphanage only two people remained in the room. Dutchess and Wanda, both sitting on opposite ends of the table Wonder was nervous because she knew what this would mean for the orphanage should dutchess lose interest or refuse the agreement.
That's wonderful twiddled with her thumbs nervously on one side of the table. don't you just went over the last of the paperwork that she had been mulling over as the day went on? she hadn't been backed to her office and is not aware of what's been going on on the other side of town. she wanted to take the time and focus on her friends last wish.
Dutchess: so about his grave, did you make one? I know he's been dead for a while now is if you did. is it nearby? can I visit him?
Wanda looks nervously as she tries to answer her question to the best of her ability while still messing around with their thumbs.
Wanda: Yes, after we managed to retrieve his body we had him buried a few feet out in the forest of the park. we can take you to him tomorrow morning if you want.
dutchess is relieved that she's able to see her goodbyes properly the continues. looking over the paper before she gets ready for business, I should finish this last page she sets the stack down crosses his arms on the table. leans forward in begins discussing business.
Dutches: The way I see it, although I did receive the offer and I did admit to the loan sharks. as such, the stories a bit more complicated. I'm pretty sure I said this before but I only received the offer. I didn't accept it. I wanted to be sure of what he had in mind before I decided where I stood but when I got the letter and was preparing to set off to visit him to see what was going on, my father was being a prick at the time. because of this I wasn't able to leave the estate. I tried to get my mother to help me out on this matter but she too was sticking it to the government and went on a cruise unless leaving me in a predicament as time passed. I had forgotten about his request until today. I had been surprised by his death certificate. I was holding out optimism that he was probably faking his death to get away with some debts he had incurred but to no avail. that doesn't appear to be the case. it saddens me to have lost such a good man but it cannot be helped.
Wanda listings with anticipation but she can't tell where this conversation is leaving so she tries to ask straightforward
Wanda: so does this mean you're not going to take over the orphanage?
dutchess looks at her with a honest expression it was clear she didn't want to lie about the situation and it's clear that she can't just flat out accepts it but she was having a hard time putting into words about what you wanted to do to best honor his wishes.
Dutchess: You're not honesty, I would love to just take over the orphanage for him now that he's gone. but the thing is, I'm currently on a mission to take over this entire town which gives me a few restrictions. I can't focus on my time on taking care of and developing the orphanage as well as making sure that all of the children here are cared for, or at least find get homes while on top of that babysitting an entire town of adult size children who, for some strange reason, are obsessed with oil right now and not in the economical sense, so I would like to make an arrangement that benefits to both of us.
get your stops talking. it looks to the door of the meeting room. it's clearly cracked open and a few dozen tiny eyes are peeking in. must be there orphanage children. all curious of the new lady in the building they all have a right to curiosity, what was their futures all in the hands of a mystery person that they only just met and barely know.
Wanda looks over at the door as well. she sees the children picking in also and tries to cue for them to leave but they don't take the hands and Dutchess looks at her and gives her the expression that it's okay and she understands then continues talking.
Dutchess: for the time being well I think of a more appropriate way to deal with the situation. I will do the following since I am currently in need of residence. i will stay in the old caretakers room. I will offer as much economical support as I can. I will leave you in charge of guiding the children and should you need anything, ask Butler who tends to be good in these circumstances. should you need anything, either he'll provide it directly or he will reach out to me and I will provide it to you through him does that sound like a deal?
Wanda gives an expression of relief seeing as although this is temporary, at least she's taking the others situations into consideration that's all. she really wanted but with things as they are nothing can be done about anything and she knows this. so with those words being said, Wanda speaks.
Wanda: I can work with that for now. that's call this meeting here. we can discuss the terms and details more tomorrow. I believe you would like to rest for now.
let you get up from the table and decide to leave as the exit. the conference room. the children crowding the door scatter her in multiple directions thinking that they were being clever walking towards the foyer. they intercept Butler who had returned from outside having swept the entryway engaged. the situation went well and predicted that Dutchess would want to stay at least for the night. taking that into consideration. he had slipped away sometime back to the office and retrieve some clothes nightwear and at least close for tomorrow so that they can stay the night.
later into the evening Butler and duchess gather into the living room area Dutchess I kept herself to the window area seeming to be observing something while Butler was sitting on the couch writing himself to end the she takes notice to his diligence and ask him a question
Dutchess: yeah I've explained to you how that bell I gave you works?
Butler doesn't bother to look but responds to a question
Butler: I don't believe you have.
she rubs the top of her head thinking if she to tell him or not but out of concerned she tells him anyways.
Dutchess: I'd feel bad not telling you this considering I ordered you the music before but as I'm pretty sure I'll explained to Breck but I'm not sure. if I gave you this lecture the good number of my belongings are demonic in nature because of my elemental being lunar, I am allowed to have contracts with many demons and a good majority of the items on my person are all contracted with are a majority demon possessed that Bell in particular has a task demon possessing it they enjoy exchanging favors for favors. so every time when you ring that bell and ask a favor from it and that means that in return the demon can ask a favor of you whenever it feels and you have an obligation to return it and that's how the bell works. this particular instance you rang the bell and ask them to leave, which meant the demon escorted them out, which means that the demon can ask you to escort someone on their behalf in the coming days, but only once each request is a request in return. so it evens out.
Butler doesn't bother looking and still continues to prepare himself for bed.
Butler: why are you telling me this now? I'm sure you would have let me find out on my own. I would have been happy for it. so I'm curious what's your reason for telling me now.
she smiles looking over her shoulder.
Dutchess: it's because tonight's going to be interesting.
she pulls on a magnifying glass from a person and hold it up to her eye
Dutchess: there's another particular type of demon, an observation demon an exchange for their use. they only ask to be allowed to gain access into this world so that they can witness anything and everything that they want. but they offer and return is for you to utilize their power in a limited capacity. for instance, in observation, demon could possess a magnifying glass. giving it the power to see things that the demon has marked. more specifically enemies that you had made earlier on today.
Butler looks over shoulder catching on to what she is hinting at.
Butler: so the gentlemen are here again today right now.
she pulls in the curtains a bit to obscure her presence as she looks out the window
Dutchess: Yes, it would appear so seems that are lesson from before didn't quite hit home with them. this time I'll try a more direct approach.
she exits the living area making your way towards the door as she is about to reach it. she notices out of the corner of her eye. some children who had seem to be spying on her that were clearly not in any hurry to go to bed. she shrugs off what she sees pulls out to lantern from her shadow and proceeds to open the front door and head outside.
outside of the orphanage it is rather dark. the only thing you could see is the orphanage itself. the light projecting from dutchess's lantern how many army of trees that gather around the path leading back to the main road? she takes a minute to assess her surroundings, clues, her throat and then says
Dutchess: Don't bother hiding. I know who you are, where you are, how many there are of you and how easily it'll be to kill. you all come out now and I won't bother killing you. you have to. I pull out my weapon one.
a short black pole shoots out of her shadow.
duchess: two.
she meals down, placing the lantern on the ground and grabbing the pole.
Dutchess: three.
from the shadow she pulls out a dual edge hatchet the hatchet had a gold trimmed blade, a black hint and purple blade wrapped around the hilt connecting through the blade and dangling was a dog tag the tag reads Bertha many men come out from the shadow of trees surrounding the orphanage Dutchess not caring. swings her hatchet horizontally as she does the length of the hilt extends? also, the size of the blade increases in both width and length growing gigantic that single swing chops off more than a few trees and cuts down the men hiding behind it, including the men who come out a lot of dead bodies said before her from behind her a man runs up screaming holding a blade. she repairs to pull out a gun to counter against her but notices a familiar red ring on his forehead abstains from pulling out a weapon and lets things play out as the man gets closer. the ring on his head starts to glow soon as entire head is engulfed and blames and then stops. his head is no more and his body falls to the ground and that's just decides not to question it but rather keep that in mind before she feels that this will be important information for later as she lets the circumstances go more men from deeper within the parks forest start to come out charging at her Dutchess feels she's in for a long night.
