Chapter 15: Mending Wounds
Her eyes fly open as she smacks into something softer than a rock. Autumn finds herself safely cradled against Blake’s chest, a look of pain and rage on his face.
“How dare you?” he screams at Liam. “You could have killed her!”
Autumn doesn’t recognize his voice. The deep growl that comes out of Blake’s mouth sends shivers up and down her spine. He moves to put her down and Autumn winces. She may not have hit the rock, but her back is killing her where Liam made contact.
“Are you okay?” Blake asks, his tone becoming soft and filled with worry.
Autumn nods ever so slowly. “It’s my back, it just really hurts. I need you two to stop fighting, right now,” she demands.
Blake glares at Liam, who has shifted back into his human form.
“I didn’t mean to hit you, Autumn. I’m so sorry,” Liam says, taking a few steps toward them.
“Don’t come any closer or I’ll rip your sorry head right off your sorry shoulders!” Blake barks, causing Liam to stop dead in his tracks.
